| Most Americans have never heard of the Risk Management Agency, but the obscure U.S. Agriculture Department office spreads good cheer and millions of dollars in grants each year to industry trade groups and universities in the name of promoting economic stability in the farming industry by reducing risk. Along the way, such well-oiled players as the $1 billion-a-year Christmas tree industry or the grape farmers who supply California’s booming winemakers have cashed in on the largesse. Even the lobby for prune growers got in on the action, scoring funds to teach its members how to better negotiate marketing contracts, records show.

Now we face $8 a gallon milk if the government stops buying excess production and converting it to powered milk that rots in warehouses. Of course this creates a lot of jobs in the powdered milk industry,so it has to keep going.
I think if Romney was elected,he would have phased out a lot of this crap but with Obamaclaus,it´s business as usual or even worse.Wind,solar and batteries have become renewable pork.
All these trade groups would have to say if their subsidies got cut,is it would cost jobs and that´s the end of the conversation.

As a conservative Christian, I believe that the Christmas-Tree industry can and should make it on it´s own. Same with all the rest of these groups. Milk producers should make it on the milk sold to people who use it - not the government. If prices go up, maybe more people who have otherwise unused land (about 65 acres for me) in rural areas will begin producing their own milk, trees or other farm products and, maybe even sell some to neighbors. Same with any other agricultural product.
Oh, of course some of the laws and regs that were put in place at the behest of some of these ´producers´ to protect their market from smaller competitors would have to be abolished.

Why should our tax dollars go to supplement private industry at all. No wonder we are broke when you read every day more wasteful spending. There is no end to the crazy things the gov. props up and I don´t think it is the responsibility of the Fed. gov. to get involved in any of this but it´s probably payback for votes.

I first saw the headline early Tuesday on Real Clear Politics, a political news site where I generally start my morning. It´s not where I expect to see a story on breast cancer. Then I checked my e-mail messages -- they all seemed to be about Angelina Jolie´s op-ed. Students in my undergraduate class wanted to discuss it in our next session. Colleagues expressed concern and wondered what the right response was. People I don´t even know sent e-mails. Just when you think the news surrounding Obamagate cannot get any worse, it does. Some say U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s days on the job are numbered and that it’s just a matter of when he’ll be forced to resign. While I’ll not shed a tear over Holder’s departure, one of the replacement names being floated has me reaching for tissues: Gov. Deval Patrick. Patrick has denied he’s interested — but the job isn’t on offer yet. If it is, President Obama should not select him nor should he be confirmed by the Senate for a plethora of reasons.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:
