| A 6-year-old girl -- shot and left for dead by the Taliban in Afghanistan earlier this year -- received free reconstructive surgery at a hospital in the U.S. Friday. (Snip) The nonprofit children´s organization, based on Staten Island, helped bring Marizeh to the U.S. after the attack that cost the girl her right eye. Taliban fighters ambushed Marizeh´s family as they drove home in a remote, unidentified region of Afghanistan last spring, said Montanti. Her father tried to hide the girl under his feet inside the family car but she was shot in the face, after watching both her father and brother murdered.

But Obama said the Taliban were not a problem anymore.../s This is so sad. I am glad she is getting treatment. But why do we always have to clean up the mess made by evil people. We should be able to just get rid of the evil once and for all.

This is what really hacks me off about Obama surrendering in Afghanistan ostensibly to make the anti-war nuts happy.For these asinine people to claim they care about the human condition is absurd as it gets. This will be an everyday story once the US and NATO all but pull out of the country.
The whole concept of a military mission has been watered down to some sort of para-military police action,instead of pulling out all the stops and destroying the enemy. You can´t cure evil,so you may as well get rid of it.
In yet another example of th emedia protecting Obama from failure,there´s absolutely no interest in why military suicides are through the roof. They wouldn´t be keeping it a secret unless it was a bad reflection on Obama.Something has changed since Bush was no longer CiC.
A main cog in military thinking,is go into a hostile region,finish the enemy off and go home.Obama´s philosophy is the opposite of that and it has to be causing major frustration within the ranks.
There´s no interest in how an Iranian woman,posing as a cop,slipped through security.It could be an act of war if she was following orders from the Iranian regime.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide.There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
