| The office of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) responded to reports today that President Barack Obama called him and other congressional leaders to receive updates about negotiations to avoid the Jan. 1 "fiscal cliff" by noting that it was the "first time McConnell has heard from any Democrat, including the President, on this since Thanksgiving." The President and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) made a show of returning to Washington this week, as if to continue negotiations--when their open opposition to Speaker of the House John Boehner´s "Plan B" last week helped doom that plan to defeat

He reaches the same conclusion I reached right after the election. Obama intends to go over the fiscal cliff and his only interest in preventing it is to avoid being blamed for it. Since he is convinced that the Republicans will be blamed for it, he thinks he is going to get to have his cake and eat it too.

It´s 3 against 1. NØbama, the Demon-RATS and their minions in the MSM, are all going to blame the Republicans for all the bad things that are going to happen.
The Republicans are going to get blamed, and there isn´t a thing they can do about it.
So they might was well stand on principal and not give an inch in this whole thing.

According to the script...we are supposed to
dither and fuss and then cave.
Then proceed to take the blame for whatever additional monstrosity of legislation has been produced.
Standing on principle would be hateful and racist and something only a Newt G. would do.
And we are much too civilized for that.

Right here, right now. This is the only chance the GOP will have to keep taxes where they are and stop raising the debt ceiling. They will not have this chance next year at this time as we will be heading into the pre-2014 midterm election cycle and that means nothing gets done. If they cave now it`s over for them. The GOP is skating on thin ice with conservatives an every other political persuasion who voted for them. Any screw up now and they can kiss the House goodbye and say hello to Speaker Pelosi again in January 2015.
My guess is they`ll screw it up since they have no track record of ever coming out on top in a fight with the Dems.

Did anyone notice that Obama´s plan calls for continuation of emergency unemployment extensions. I´d bet that these unemployment extensions the payment of tax credits to the poor represent more cost than the project saving from taxing the rich.

Ever since he announced he was stepping down as Tonight Show host Jay Leno has seemingly been harder on Barack Obama. Well on Monday´s Tonight Show with Jay Leno that trend continued as Leno featured a clip of schoolchildren peppering the President with the tough questions that the press should be hammering him with on a daily basis. The Senate Judiciary Committee’s passage of a sweeping immigration bill was expected. But the explosion of chants of “Yes we can! Yes we can!” and “Leahy! Leahy!” came as a surprise. The “Gang of Eight” bill passed by a wide 13-5 margin early Tuesday evening. Amid the cheering, Democratic committee chairman Sen. For a "failed scandal," Fast and Furious sure brought out the heavy hitters at the Department of Justice to deal with a whistleblower. The department´s inspector general has released a report accusing one US attorney, Dennis Burke, of leaking a document that smeared John Dodson, a key witness in the Fast and Furious scandal, and accusing other officials in the department of coming up with a strategy to discredit him. Breitbart: The DOJ IG said it found "Burke´s conduct in disclosing the Dodson memorandum to be inappropriate for a Department employee and wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney."

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?"
