Reid: House ‘Being Operated
With A Dictatorship Of The Speaker’

Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:pineledger, 12/28/2012 6:29:56 AM

Washington--A last-gasp effort Thursday to avoid automatic tax increases and spending cuts got off on the same convulsive, partisan tone that marked congressional attempts to resolve the impasse before lawmakers left Washington to go home for Christmas. (Snip)Reid charged Thursday that the House was “being operated with a dictatorship of the speaker. John Boehner seems to care more about keeping his speakership than about keeping the nation on sound financial footing,” the Nevada Democrat said on the Senate floor.

Comments:
A slight bit of projection, Harry?

Reid brings home plenty of federal taxpayer booty to his state and can be counted on to make outrageous, insulting and completely false accusations toward Republicans so of course he gets re-elected for that. He has no other accomplishments. Now that Boehner has lobbed this phony fiscal cliff to the Senate to solve Reid is at a loss so he goes back to what he does best - showing his stupidity and running his mouth.

Of course Reid is accusing Boehner of doing EXACTLY what he is doing in the Senate. Seriously, someone should "explain" it to him in terms he might understand.

Toads are friends to mankind. Harry Reid is a nasty, shriveled human being who should be tossed out on his ear for not doing his Constitutional duty.

As a citizen of this country I´m am sick of these people. They say things that we all know are wrong yet they think that we believe it. I´m sick of the games that are played in Washington DC by this group of people, blame this one, blame that one, call this one this, call that one that. They all are acting like they are dictators and passing legislation to enrich themselves and not for the good of the country, they all need to be impeached, thrown out. Because we are not as a nation getting better with these people.

This sniveling moron is upset with the Republicans for not presenting a balanced budget? Really?? This from the man who has supposedly been in charge of the Senate for the last four years and has not submitted a single budget, even though he is Constitutionally obligated to do so, for any of those four years.

The question I have is this: what is wrong with every democrat senator? Am I to assume that they are ALL in agreement with a filthy, lying discourteous Leader?
Aren´t there rules about slandering another member?
Is there not even ONE democrat left with honor in the Senate who is willing to put country before scoring points?

Reply 26 - Posted by: chiller, 12/28/2012 10:04:42 AM     (No. 9087321)

Let´s go slowly for the benefit of liberals; When it comes from Obeyme or Reid, it´s usually the exact opposite. In this case, the "dictator" was clearly unable to dictate anything to Republicans. The article at least referenced the incident, but blamed Boehner for pulling the vote, rather than his inability to dictate.

So, the question is: Was the AP reporter simply taking dictation from Reid, or did AP bother to ask if the actions on record directly contradict his charge. It was AP, afterall, so we probably know the answer.

Some of the nation´s largest banks, including Wells Fargo [WFC +1.58%] & Co., suspended foreclosure sales in a number of states following guidance issued last month by federal banking regulators. While some foreclosures have since resumed, the halt marks the latest dustup over how foreclosures are handled. Banks said their actions were triggered by a four-page bulletin issued last month by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Reserve. The bulletin outlined basic operating standards for foreclosure sales. Many of the nation´s largest banks were already operating under consent orders with the OCC or the Fed

Common-sense politics devolve into a season of craziness in this engrossing account of the 2012 U.S. presidential campaign. Journalist Alter follows up his bestselling The Promise: President Obama, Year One with a savvy dissection of the 2010–2012 election cycle and related political dogfights, including budget and debt-ceiling showdowns, the Republican primary circus, and the “Obama Derangement Syndrome” infecting Tea Partiers and talk-radio hosts. At the center are rich portraits of the antagonists: Obama is seen as a cerebral antipolitician with no “schmooze gene” who hates back-slapping, slogan-spewing theatrics; Romney is portrayed as a well-meaning

Let’s face it. The Great Gatsby never has been—and probably won’t ever be—successfully turned into a great motion picture. Many have tried (four flop movies, not to mention various small-screen attempts, including a truncated but memorable Playhouse 90 with Robert Ryan and Jeanne Crain in the golden days when TV still knew what quality programming was). Robert Redford was a perfect Gatsby in the pretty but boring 1974 version by Jack Clayton, but the movie was dead on arrival. The best I’ve seen is still Elliott Nugent’s black-and-white 1949 version, with Alan Ladd at the top of his form

It may go down as one of the great currency bets in Australian dollar history – a $US1 billion gamble on a Reserve Bank rate cut that has delivered a $US19 million ($18.65m) profit in 36 hours. The beneficiary, if you believe the rumour mill, is investment legend George Soros. Best of all, it appears the 82-year-old American pulled off the deal three times, all with different foreign exchange brokers in Asia, for a tidy profit of almost $US60 million. Oskar Lafontaine, the German finance minister who launched the euro, has called for a break-up of the single currency to let southern Europe recover, warning that the current course is "leading to disaster". "The economic situation is worsening from month to month, and unemployment has reached a level that puts democratic structures ever more in doubt," he said. "The Germans have not yet realised that southern Europe, including France, will be forced by their current misery to fight back against German hegemony sooner or later," he said,

U.S. President Barack Obama gives the commencement address to the graduating class of The Ohio State University at Ohio Stadium on May 5, 2013 in Columbus, Ohio. PRESIDENT OBAMA: Unfortunately, you´ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that´s at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They´ll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices.

After months of weighing potential candidates, President Obama finally has his pick for the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which oversees the housing giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Obama wants to tap Representative Mel Watt, a Democrat from North Carolina. Confirmation is far from a sure thing. Watt’s nomination has been met with cheers by many groups that work with borrowers, from the National Community Reinvestment Coalition to MoveOn.org, though some liberals say he’s too close with banks, which are a big part of North Carolina’s economy.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”
