Jackson leaves EPA
to mixed reviews

Washington Times, by Ben Wolfgang

A hero to the environmental movement and a constant thorn in the sides of Republicans and the energy sector, outgoing Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson presided over one of the most controversial and dramatic periods in the agency’s history. She made her mark by helping craft new automobile fuel standards, imposing a ban on new coal-fired power plants, and being among the loudest in calling for action to combat climate change. But Ms. Jackson, who announced her resignation Thursday after four years at the helm of the EPA, also sustained several legal defeats

Obama´s praise of Jackson´s accomplishmemts shows that he is mad:

"...playing a key role in establishing historic fuel economy standards that will save the average American family thousands of dollars at the pump, while also slashing carbon pollution,” Mr. Obama said.

1. The cost to consumers to achieve the EPA´s CAFE standards will be at least $3,000 to $5,000 per car. The added cost will not be offset with fuel savings until year 8 or 9 of ownership.

2. Obama wants to eliminate consumer choice by forcing micro vehicles on us. Americans don´t buy the micro cars & micro trucks that will have to average 56 MPG. We will keep our existing cars longer to avoid buying a 2 seat car that weighs less than 1,800 pounds.

3. Small cars kill, and micro cars will kill an additional 2,000 to 3,000 Americans per year. Tiny plastic capsules offer little mass to absorb collisions.

4. The EPA´s CAFE rules will drive auto manufacturing to China & India, where cheap labor can make micro cars that will have an MSRP of $25,000 in 2020.

I´d like to ask the current "Speaker of the House" WHY in God´s Green Earth is this agency still being funded? This is just ONE reason we need a True Conservative as Speaker of the House in January......

The alias woman named Richard has been ousted because of scandal - would we could rid ourselves of other similar liberal incubuses[incubi?] I guess the successsor will be even worse - Funding oiught to be withdrawn - . This apponted agency has played a huge part in our worsening economical problems

I don´t know your point of view if you say she had mixed reviews. Nothing this woman did was a positive including ducking strict laws about secrecy. Here is Obama riding in on his white horse of transparency and being anything but. They stonewall FOIA requests all the time, even then you gat a heavily redacted account of what happened. This woman should be facing an indictment, not wondering what her next career move is. She´ll probably sit on a board of a radical left wing think tank.

I´m also thinking she avoided doing economic impact studies of her radical war on big energy.I can see her siting there say X is an acceptable number of job losses to fight the myth of climate change. She doesn´t care if a father of 3 loses his livelihood.

You can bet if the EPA was using secret e mail accounts, then there´s other Obama goon depts. doing the same. These people are systematic cheaters.

The Republicans have no strategy to fight this nonsense and until we get serious about our messaging the left will continue to dominate the debate. For decades the left has been able to cultivate their agenda and they are reaping the rewards. Statistic after statistic is available to refute the lies of agencies like the EPA, and yet, we hear nothing from the Republicans. Time to spend some big bucks on ads cleverly produced that will refute the outrageous claims of the EPA and similar agencies. Go Alinsky on their butts. Use ridicule and humor to educate the uninformed. It is time to play by their rules and beat them at their own game. Think outside the box because what we are doing now is not working.

Another corrupt incompetent Democrat hack trying to keep her fat butt out of prison. This the most corrupt administration in all American history and is only going to get worse. Too bad that the MSM won´t acknowledge this fact. So many of these Democrats should be indicted from Obama on down. If the public only knew how bad it is.

Reply 13 - Posted by: M2, 12/28/2012 8:42:22 AM     (No. 9087180)

I guess she wasn´t radical enough for this Administration. Still, good riddance.

This is a scream:

“Under her leadership, the EPA has taken sensible and important steps ...implementing the first national standard for harmful mercury pollution, taking important action to combat climate change under the Clean Air Act and playing a key role in establishing historic fuel economy standards that will save the average American family thousands of dollars at the pump, while also slashing carbon pollution,” Mr. Obama said.

Does no one find it ironice that the same agency that insist we buy mercury-filled poisonous lightbulbs is the same agency now lauded for "implementing the first national standard for harmful mercury pollution"?

Is there no argument against the preconceived nonsense idea that climate change can be "combatted"? Only air pollution can be somewhat alleviated by certain reasonable regulations. Ditto water. But combatting climate change is a ridiculous notion.

Let´s look some more at Ø´s quote: “Under her leadership, the EPA has taken sensible and important steps to protect the air we breathe and the water we drink..."

It wasn´t under her leadership, or even recently. The sensible and important stuff happened back in the 1960s. "under her leadership" the EPA has only further grown malignantly. It´s only become more bloated, increasingly unnecessary and stifling the economy ... under her leadership.

Wouldn´t it be sweet to see all this stuff (Bengahzi, the East/Gulf coast port strike, etc.) to overwhelm and finally cause this admin. to implode?

Journalist Michael Hastings was killed early Tuesday morning in a bizarre car incident in Los Angeles. Hastings, 33, was best known for writing the Rolling Stone story that ended in Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s resignation as head of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Hastings’ final story, “Why Democrats Love to Spy on Americans,” was a searing take on the NSA snooping scandal, which Hastings described as “North Korea-esque.” Hastings pulled no punches as he linked the NSA scandal to the Department of Justice’s spying on reporters and the IRS abuse scandal. Hastings built a case that the same Democrats who turned Bush-era

An IRS supervisor working in Washington told congressional investigators that she personally reviewed applications from groups for tax-exempt status, in testimony that appears to show the agency’s scrutiny of conservative groups extended beyond the confines of the office in Cincinnati. Holly Paz, who was a supervisor in the Internal Revenue Service’s tax-exempt status division, indicated during an interview with congressional investigators that she did review such applications, but indicated that she believed “tea party” meant political advocacy in general — not necessarily conservative groups.

Political appointees at the Defense Department, the CIA and the White House brushed aside concerns from career officials about helping two Hollywood filmmakers research their 2012 movie about the top-secret Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden, according to a report from the Pentagon’s inspector general. CIA Director Leon E. The Supreme Court ruled today in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council that federal law does not allow states the option of requiring voters to prove they are American citizens when they register to vote. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA, or “Motor Voter”) creates a standardized national system for registering to vote in federal elections. It allows for registration three ways: (1) in person, (2) when you get your driver’s license, or (3) by mail. The Election Assistance Commission (EAC, created by a later federal law in 2002)

WASHINGTON — The National Security Agency sweeps up data on millions of cellphones and Internet communications under secret court orders. But as it mounts a rigorous defense of its surveillance, the agency has disclosed new details that portray its efforts as tightly controlled and limited in scope, while successful in thwarting potential plots. On Sunday, officials said that though the NSA is authorized to collect "geolocational" information that can pinpoint the location of callers, it chooses not to. t looked bad last week, but it looks much, much worse now. The federal government has been spying and lying. The only comfort is that, apparently, it´s been largely incompetent at both: Nobody believes the lies, and the spying wasn´t even able to catch the Tsarnaev brothers. Not long ago, the Director of National Intelligence assured us that the federal government does not "wittingly" spy on Americans. That has turned out to be a lie. Perhaps a suddenly firearm-friendly President Obama can put in a good word for Jared Marcum. In April, Marcum, an eighth-grader at Logan Middle School in Logan, W. Va., was arrested when he refused to take off his NRA t-shirt. The New York Daily News reports: The clothing kerfuffle began when Marcum wore a shirt bearing the NRA’s logo and a hunting rifle. As he stood in line in the cafeteria, a teacher ordered him to either change shirts or turn it inside out. Marcum declined and was sent to the office, where an officer

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
