They got it all wrong. Chicago needs to start firing white teachers until the numbers match.

Rahm Emanuel has pull strings and operated in the political shadows for most of his career. Even in Congress he avoided the heat. I am wondering how he is finding life now that he is in charge of the reality parade that is Chicago politics? Not so easy is it Mayor?

It is not necessarily the teachers, but the homes where these kids come from for the most part.

FTA: It alleges that more than half of the tenured teachers fired in the most recent round of school closings and turnarounds were African American.

This reminds me of the problems wymen created a few decades ago, when they complained that they were prevented from reaching the higher levels of management. When actual hours worked, it was discovered that many of the wymen took off a couple of years to "bond with their baby" then when they returned to work, they worked fewer overtime hours. The men who were promoted had been working many overtime hours continuously, with no baby leaves.

I´m not real certain how "tenure" works, but does longevity accrue in addition to tenure?? Could it be that the minority "tenured" teachers had less seniority, or more often/longer leave periods??

The article does not state the percentage of white teachers who were tenured/not tenured nor compared that figure to the same for black teachers. How did the firings affect the percentages of the teachers still employed?? Hopefully, these issues will be clarified in the court filings.
