David Zurawik, a TV writer for The Baltimore Sun, slammed "pretend journalist" Chelsea Clinton on The Daily Download for her work on NBC. "I continue to be fascinated by a network news division putting someone as outrageously unqualified as Clinton on a prime-time newsmagazine," he wrote. "I watched her again last week in a softer-than-soft piece on a weight loss program started by Pastor Rick Warren at his Saddleback Church, and I can say with absolute certainty that she has not improved one lick in the last year." He proclaimed, "In fact, I think she is

Comments:
Zurawik is sure no conservative. I didn´t even know Chelsea Clinton was still acting as a "journalist." Of course I won´t watch NBC so I wasn´t enlightened by that fact. She´s just getting primed for her political career. Oh groan.

Poor Web Hubbell is turning in his grave. I believe Chelsea was his only daughter.

Speaking in a monotone on plum assingments with a face made for radio?

No kidding!

You would think that anyone as well educated as Chelsea is would want to make a name for herself on her own instead of taking the favor of a stupid TV job from political soul mates of her parents. Doesn´t she have any pride? For God´s sake Chelsea, go to law school, get A´s, get on law review and then make a name for yourself on your own hook. Stop milking the system. You´re in your 30´s now. Grow up!

People her age with sharper abilities and more degrees have to move in with their parents because they can´t find jobs. It´s amazing what having the right name and set of relatives can get a person. The rather mediocre Kennedy kids have known this all their lives.

Chelsea isn´t the only "pretend journalist" at NBC. At least she is new at the game.

Chelsea is proof why people go into politics. She has no job skills and nothing to offer an employer. Being how she will be eventually labeled the 2nd smartest woman - next to her mother - in the world, this qualifies her to be senator of whatever state she chooses.

As for NBC, if they are looking for a woman with real brains to host a magazine show, they might try asking Liz Cheney - but then Liz has too much brainpower to get mixed up with that outfit.

Jenna Bush Hager does a wonderful job.... Personality, charm, wit, compassion, laughter, in other words, genuine.

Chelsea, not so much..

On the contrary, imo journalism really doesn´t need more than a high school diploma. She´s overqualified. It´s only due to certification inflation that journalism has been stretched as a subject into grad school.

Her real job is to bring in ratings to sell ad space - that´s all. She´s either performing in that capacity or she´s not.

Reply 10 - Posted by: snowoutlaw, 12/27/2012 3:22:42 PM     (No. 9086295)

Maybe but Chelsea is the best "pretend journalist" NBC has. NBC has no real journalists so she fits right in.

The left really believes in political pedigree,no matter whether the person can stand on her own two feet or not.I seriously doubt her bogus marriage is working out. I seem to remember her husband vacationing by himself not long after they got married. She´s probably frigid as hell in bed.

Obama´s girls going through Sidwell will probably turn out to be over educated zombies themselves cashing in on the folk´s name ID.I actually hope better for these two girls like turning conservative.

#1, webster hubbell is still alive. Look at the wiki entry on him. I had forgotten some of that stuff. The man is a thief. But he kept quiet and protected bill and hillary, just as he said he would.

As far as commenting on Chelsea Clinton´s talent, she has put herself out there on NBC, and while I haven´t watched NBC since the 1990s, I understand that she stinks at her commentary job.
Should she be immune from criticism because she is hillary´s daughter?

I´m actually more outraged about the Obama´s unqualified gig at the WH. As for Chelsea and NBC, she will do as well as the other qualified professionals that have been making up and spreading their propaganda.

No Personality
No Looks
No Hygene

The tried-and-true path to a career in journalism, in print or broadcast, is to start in the smaller markets and work your way up to the big time. Apparently Miss Clinton has no time for that. I´m not sure experience in the smaller markets would help in her case.

The Boy Scouts of America today voted to lift its longtime ban on admitting gay Scouts but will continue to exclude openly gay adults from leadership roles. The vote by its 1,400 national membership came as no surprise to gay rights advocates, who hailed it as a first step to ending discriminatory practices in the 103-year-old organization. The ruling by secret ballot at a national convention in Dallas means that mothers like Jennifer Tyrrell, who is a lesbian, will still be excluded from the Boy Scouts.

Although White House Chief Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler claims to have learned about the IRS audit scandal only last month, she had three unprecedented one-on-one meetings last year with the Treasury Department’s chief lawyer, who has known about the inspector general’s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative nonprofits since at least June 2012. The Treasury lawyer in turn has a long history of extreme left-wing agitation. Christopher J. Meade, Treasury Chief Counsel, met with Ruemmler on September 27th, December 11th, and December 13th, 2012, according to White House Visitor Records requests.

President Barack Obama condemned “in the strongest terms the appalling attack" that killed an off-duty British soldier in a London suburb. “There can be absolutely no justification for such acts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim, the police and security services responding to this horrific act and the communities they serve, and the British people,” Obama said in a statement the White House released Thursday. Obama also reaffirmed the “special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom.

President Obama is using his national security address today to reject the "Global War on Terror." "Beyond Afghanistan, we must define our effort not as a boundless ‘global war on terror’ – but rather as a series of persistent, targeted efforts to dismantle specific networks of violent extremists that threaten America. In many cases, this will involve partnerships with other countries. Thousands of Pakistani soldiers have lost their lives fighting extremists. President Barack Obama knows the dangers of not going far enough or fast enough to stop the climate crisis. History will celebrate his decision to lead us toward a clean energy economy that solves climate change and creates long-term, sustainable jobs for Americans. But achieving this awesome goal requires that we reject the TransCanada Corp.’s proposal to build the Keystone XL pipeline, which would cut through the heartland of America. This is a simple decision for a president who supports protecting our climate and creating jobs. Returning our economy to stable growth requires Americans to

What does a murderous jihadist terrorist have to do to get some recognition for his cause? You hack a British soldier to death in broad daylight on a London street while shouting “Allahu akbar” and then “swear by the almighty Allah” that you’ll never stop fighting, and the U.S. broadcast networks still can’t bring themselves to utter a word about Islam. True, the ABC CBS and NBC evening broadcasts called the attack “terrorism,” but for all the information they gave viewers, the attackers might have been Basque separatists or animal rights zealots. The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
