We´ll Go Over The Cliff

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said this morning that it "looks like" Congress will fail to come to a deal to avert the year-end fiscal cliff. "It looks like that´s where we´re headed," Reid said. It´s not exactly a surprise — leaders left Washington last week without any imminent signs of a deal in the making. But it´s a grim warning just days before tax hikes and automatic spending cuts begin to take effect. Reid opened the Senate session by launching into a lengthy criticism of the House and Speaker John Boehner, saying

So how long is it since the Senaate actually passed a budget? Think that might have anything to do with this cliff thingy we keep hearing about?

Will someone tell the ignorant fool that he has a bill before the Senate that will do exactly what he fears. It passed the House months ago.

We are not going to do anything.

We are not taking up anything they are working on over there [in the House].

~ Senator Harry Reid ~

No, it´s not exactly a surprise.

Why don´t they just extend the deadline? Congress set the Jan 1 deadline and they should be able to change it. It won´t change the fact that we are headed for a brick wall but there wouldn´t be that hard deadline anymore.

It´s going to be OK. Just like the Y2K panic was a false alarm so is the "cliff." The alternative is to borrow more money from China and send the bill to our grandchldren- which ain´t fair.

The previous Congress set this up because of the deficit getting intolerably larger and larger. It has to stop sometime and this is as good as any. Let it happen now!

Harry´s trying to cause a market meltdown to get the Pubbies on their knees begging for a deal. 500 points would do it.

Poor Harry. Since when did he become concerned about the spending of government funds. He´s worried. Hillary is hiding, the big O is returning from the land of beauty, warmpth, and leasure, to pretend his concern re the budget. Never mind he hasn´t passed a budget in four years!
obnoxious people.

They want everyone taxed more. They want the unemployment extensions to stop. They want the Payroll Holiday to end. They want your money and want those old programs which bought votes in 2 elections to end. They expect the GOP to be blamed for their plan. They simply underestimate the anger among the non-Rich and overestimate their ability calm any revolts among their supporters. I think the GOP is going to make them own the tax hikes and DEMAND cuts to programs equal to 3 times the new revenue. I hope the GOP is ready to demand offsetting cuts in spending for every dollar of new revenue the Dems asked for and now want to give back.

Harry says it ´looks like congress will fail to come to a deal´. What he really means is that Repub´s won´t capitulate with his demands. That Boehner dude is such a ´Dictator´ as Harry would call him.

Can´t you people figure out that Reid couldn´t care less what you think?

Somewhere back between Ruby Ridge and Waco the public surrendered the country to the government, and they know now that all you´re going to do if you get mad is whine...

Reid says we’re going over the cliff. He came to well of the Senate to say that and then left with no Senate business scheduled for the day. What does that say about his fiduciary responsibility in the cliff business?

Hey Harry "left jab" Reid. How about you go over the cliff while I throw over an anvil after you. You moronic democrackheads starting with Odummy got us into this mess and now he´s on his way from his taxpayer funded vacate in Hawaii to "get to work". What a bunch of dipwads.

52% of the voters voted to destroy this nation this past November.

Go on over the cliff, crash and burn. It´s what they voted for, it´s what we all are going to get one way or the other.

Obama or Reid are not going to go anywhere unless the GOP in the House passes it. The GOP was elected too, and those that elected them expect those votes to have consequences.

Mr. No-Budget Harry Reid has only himself to blame. I knew Reid was going to be nothing but trouble if Nevada elected him to the Seante again. Why are the voters in Nevada so stupid?

Gee, no Congressionally mandated Federal Budget has been passed in 4 years, and he´s worried about a "fiscal cliff" (whatever the heck that means).

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration’s efforts to raise private money to carry out the president’s health care law have provoked such a strong partisan uproar that potential donors have become skittish about contributing, according to several people involved in the fund-raising program. White House officials said they did not sign off on the fund-raising calls made by Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, but were generally aware that she would be seeking support from outside groups. Two House committees have begun investigating the solicitations. Five senior Republicans from the Senate and the House

Fire-breathing political advocates from the both sides of America´s political divide have issued new calls for Barack Obama to fire his attorney general, Eric Holder. LIberal radio show host Bill Press weighed in on the air Friday, and then in a series of tweets, while Texas Senator John Cornyn put a target on Holder´s back during a Sunday television appearance. ´I think it’s past time for him to go and for the president to appoint somebody who the public can have confidence in,´ the ultra-conservative Cornyn said on the CBS show Face The Nation. ´You know, I´ve lost confidence

In some states, more than three-quarters of residents were born in that state. In others, fewer than 40 percent of residents are native-born. Here´s a look, via a recent University of Virginia analysis, of which states (plus D.C.) have the most, and least, native-born residents, according to 2010 Census data. The 10 states with the highest percent of residents who were born there (percent of residents who are natives in parenthesis): 1. Louisiana (78.8) -2. Michigan (76.6) -3. Ohio (75.1) -4. Her daughter, Marnie Aument Loughrey, is running for Traffic Court. What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
