| Nearly all the major players in the fiscal cliff negotiations are starting to agree on one thing: A deal is virtually impossible before the New Year. Unlike the bank bailout in 2008, the tax deal in 2010 and the debt ceiling in 2011, the Senate almost certainly won’t swoop in and help sidestep a potential economic calamity, senior officials in both parties predicted on Wednesday.

"Fiscal cliff" is a metaphor, a figure of speech. It conveys nothing but alarm. This, of course, is the intent of politicians on both sides, to frighten the public. Reporters, editors and columnists are falling right into the hands of such partisans by chanting the phrase like a mantra.

The deal was always unlikely. The difference is that people are finally figuring out that Obama and the Democrats are unwilling to offer anything the Republicans are willing to accept. The thing that even now they seem to be ignoring is that Obama is perfectly happy with no deal, as long as he can avoid be blamed for it. It is just an added bonus that he thinks he can get people to blame the Republicans.

So, they will play "Kick the Can" on down the road again- My guess is a quick midnight "Two month extension" of the status quo. Again, no budget, according to the Constitution- people in this country are so stupid. They have lost their nation and don´t even realize it. In fact, most (Øbama voters) don´t even seem to care.

There is no reason for the GOP or Conservatives to play kick the can. All of Obama´s gimmicks will die: emergency unemployment, Payroll Tax holiday, tax credits as checks for low income earners not paying income tax, etc all cease. Clinton tax rates in place raising taxes more on the poor (percentage increase) than on the rich. Any Democrat who proposes lowering tax rates should be asked what spending he will cut to offset the loss in revenue. Way I see it, revenue goes up 450 billion in 2013, we now need 1.3 trillion in cuts for 2013.

Former News Corp president Peter Chernin has bid around $500 million for Hulu, the online video streaming service he helped create in 2007, according to two sources with knowledge of Hulu´s sale process. The website, jointly controlled by News Corp and Walt Disney Co, reached out to potential buyers in March after initially contemplating a deal in which one would buy out the other. It is not clear whether that transaction is still being contemplated.

After lengthy investigations, the Pentagon has determined that three Army generals committed misconduct in separate incidents, adding to an unusually long list of senior military commanders who have been censured over the past year.On Friday, defense officials confirmed that Army Maj. Gen. Ralph O. Baker, the commander of a strategic counterterrorism force on the Horn of Africa, was fired March 28 on charges of sexual misconduct. Two officials familiar with the case said Baker was investigated for allegedly groping a female civilian employee after he had been drinking.
