| If you´re looking for optimism as the world turns toward 2013, stay up late watching paid-for television explaining how to turn wrinkles into miracles. Past that, my own reservoir of uplift is a bit dry this year. A famous and successful American optimist, Ronald Reagan, put his finger closer to the problem when he suggested there was little limit to what people could accomplish if government would get out of the way. As Barack Obama flies from Hawaii´s beaches to Washington´s cliff, there may be four or five liberals who´ve come to agree with the Gipper.

First the TEA Party got blamed for everything that goes wrong. We´re still there (ask the Speaker)
Now, millions of John Galts will start dealing with the looters running our government.
Maybe Reid and BO can force through a massive bill called Obamabuy. Everyone will have to buy approved things from approved providers and those that can´t afford to buy will be given subsidies run by an impartial and honest government exchange. Those who can afford to buy but refuse will be taxed/fined until we reach 1% unemployment and 10% GDP growth. The Bernanke will create a negative interest rate forever so borrrowing will actually create income for the government and the deficit will disappear.

Another Reagan quote comes to mind quite frequently these days: "There is no limit to what you can accomplish if you don´t care who gets the credit" or something along those lines.
My how far we´ve fallen. The Obama attitude is "there´s no limit to how much destruction you can cause if you can figure out who to pin the blame on".
I see that word in headlines every day. Blame.

Obama War Room: Nowhere Man
OBAMA: [on the beach, yelling] C’mon, Michelle. Get your butt back on that board, paddle out, and try again. I’m countin’ on you, girl. VALERIE JARRETT: Excuse me, sir. Air Force One arrives at Dulles around noon. Your double will be whisked to the White House, incognito. He’ll hole up in the subbasement until you sneak home next week. OBAMA: A shame we gotta play these games just so I can kick back a few more days. Hey Axe, nobody’s gonna know? AXELROD: Reporters went back with your other self, sir. And the Service has created a 25 square mile exclusion zone around the compound. All locals have been temporarily relocated. We’re calling it a precautionary measure. OBAMA: Washington? DAVID PLOUFFE: We’ll pass out still photos of you pacing the floor in the Oval Office, phone in hand. At his press briefings, Carney will say you’ve been reaching out to the principals in an effort to keep fiscal disaster at bay. OBAMA: I have? AXELROD: Yes, sir. Your voice impersonator has placed dozens of calls to Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, Reid, Hoyer and others to urge them on. The connection is broken before any discussion ensues. OBAMA: Does Reid know I´m not coming back? PLOUFFE: Yes, sir. He says you might as well be on the moon for all he cares. AXELROD: We’ve built a mock-up of the Oval Office at the Compound, sir. Later on, you should deliver that three minute statement I prepared about the need for everybody to get serious as doom approaches. OBAMA: Awright. Hey, one more Blue Hawaii, easy on the vodka, before I head out for another run. Forget the little umbrella.

Assuming that it is even possble to pick up the pieces in 2016 and salvage what is left of the America we once knew, all I can say is we had better start banding together now like we have done since Obie got in. For the sake of our children and grandchildren.

Maybe the government should tax everyone at 100%, then send out ´tax refund´ checks to everyone and sign us all up for food stamps. Or better yet…just print enough money that everyone can have some.. Wait! That´s what they are doing now!

Government is the problem not the solution. In general the bigger an organization the more likely it is to be dysfunctional. The more money there is in one place the more shysters will be attracted! The Principle of Subsidiarity states that public functions should be handled by the smallest most local organizations whenever possible. This is the exact reverse of the centralizing statist tendencies of government today. Large scale government is an extremely wasteful way to take care of social needs. A statistic I heard which is probably long out of date is that it takes $70.oo to give $1.oo to a needy person because of bureaucratic waste. We need an APP for that along with showing the national debt show how little of this money achieves it´s stated purpose and how even less achieves a genuine constitutional purpose. This it the sort of groundwork needed to educate a population on the results of statist government!

Disarmament: President Obama has proposed targeting cuts in deployed atomic weapons of up to a third below levels achieved in a 2010 treaty with Russia. He wants a world without nuclear arms — specifically ours. Only a shameless politician could invoke the name of President Kennedy in Berlin to announce the nuclear disarmament of America. When Kennedy proclaimed "Ich bin ein Berliner" in June 1963, it was a statement of solidarity with the free people of West Berlin and a pledge of resistance to the tyranny that surrounded it. It was not an act of

War On Terror: President Obama is practically engineering a silent coup against flawed Afghan President Hamid Karzai, with whom we replaced the Taliban in 2001. He´s copying America´s worst mistake of the Vietnam War. A perfect comparison it may not be, but disturbing similarities exist between the Obama administration´s unfolding abandonment of Afghanistan´s corrupt President Karzai and the Kennedy administration´s betrayal of South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem 50 years ago. Karzai on Wednesday backed out of impending talks with the Taliban after the U.S. announced its diplomats will negotiate directly with the country´s bloodthirsty former rulers.

President Obama insists his policies are driven by a "common sense" approach. He also speaks in terms of "we the people" and "the government is us." Such declarations are reminiscent of old Soviet posters displayed for all to see: "ALL POWER BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE" and "PEOPLE AND COMMUNIST PARTY ARE ONE." But the real power in the USSR was in the hands of Communist Party leaders. They, in the name of the people, defined foes of centralized government as "enemies of the people." Similarly, Obama´s Department of Homeland Security has defined right-wing extremists as "those that are mainly anti-government,

RUSH: I´ll get to Obama and Germany. There were two things he did in Germany. He had a press conference with Merkel and he had a speech, the Brandenburg Gate. If you remember, in 2008 Obama went over to Germany and he requested at that time to speak at the Brandenburg Gate, and the Germans, boy, they were under a lot of pressure because back then Obama was The Messiah. He was making a tour of Europe on his messianic pilgrimage as part of his campaign. He requested to

RUSH: Hello, folks, and welcome to the Rush Limbaugh program here on the Excellence in Broadcasting Network. Middle of the week, Wednesday. It´s a thrill and a delight to have you with us. It is also a day of really profound heartbreak for those of us who knew the author Vince Flynn, who passed away this morning at 1:50 a.m. Central time at a hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Prostate cancer that was discovered too late. I´m numb sitting here today in a state of shock about this.

A massive twit-storm washed over your humble columnist yesterday, set off by our Wall Street Journal op-ed defending an Obama nominee and the rights of criminal defendants. To recap briefly: Sen. Claire McCaskill has placed a "permanent hold" on the nomination of Gen. Susan Helms to be vice commander of the Air Force Space Command. McCaskill is punishing Helms for having granted clemency to an officer under her command, Capt. Matthew Herrera, who was convicted of aggravated sexual assault. We reviewed the facts and concluded that Helms was correct in holding that the prosecution case was so

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
