| Children of conservative religious backgrounds who spend a lifetime rebelling against their parents often replicate the “fundamentalism” of their youth. Except their mutated version is often angrier, more intolerant, and unmitigated by the sense of divine grace that permeates even the most zealous of Christian “fundamentalists.” Franky Schaeffer, hyper resentful son of the late great evangelical thinker Francis Schaeffer, is an icon of this pathology. But in the wake of the horrible Connecticut killings, he has outdone even the most foaming at the mouth caricature of himself.

I´ve read many theological works from Augustine to Bonhoeffer but seldom as one pertinent to today´s world as Francis Schaeffer´s "A Christian Manifesto." I always disliked the title, but the content is amazing. If Franky never read it he should, as should everybody.

FTA: "...The younger Schaeffer, who’s largely lost his faith,..."
He never had any faith as described in Holy Scripture.

Francis Schaeffer was a truly great man. Franke Schaeffer dropped out of the south end of a north-bound horse.

What a nasty man. His foam-flecked rant reminds one of hydrophobia. He has become politically rabid. He is a gruesome example of Nietzsche´s maxim that he who fights monsters must take care lest he become one. And he is a chilling example of the malice and moral vanity that constitute the core of Leftist ideology. This is not Eros but Thanatos.
He needs to take a good look in the mirror. He has become what he claims to be against.
Yuk. Just reading his words makes one feel unclean, craving the decontamination of a shower. They are the malevolent howlings of a demon. I don´t think the Oedipus Complex should get him off the hook for such almost(?) insanely hateful slanders. They are the external manifestations of a profound inner wickedness. This is precisely the same kind of paranoid narcissistic rage that causes some people -luckily a very few- to take up a semi-automatic weapon and begin shooting strangers.
The worst thing is that he is not the only one. There are others equally hateful and malicious - equally self-righteous and vindictive. They actually seem to thrive on their hate. It is perhaps their main, even their only raison d´etre.

The author of the article mentioned Harold Zinn, the "historian" - isn´t it Howard Zinn? The subject matter of the article is indeed wretched, but the author needs some editorial help.

During his radio show on Friday, Rush Limbaugh told his listeners, “I think abortion is at the root of so much that has and is going wrong in this country.” The conservative host went on to discuss that the reason why amnesty is essential to the liberal agenda is because abortion has, since Roe v. Wade in 1973, wiped out millions of potential taxpayers. The Democrat Party, Limbaugh said, has turned to amnesty as a means to ensure a “permanent underclass” in order to continue its image as the party of big government entitlements.

Colorado´s Black Forest fire is barely contained at latest reports and has killed at least two people while consuming hundreds of homes and other structures and forcing the evacuation of more than 38,000 people, but a dozen other significant fires are also burning across the country, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. (Snip) Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld of the New York-based American Center for Democracy´s Economic Warfare Institute warns that last July "al-Qaeda´s English-language online magazine, Inspire, published an article called ´It Is of Your Freedom to Ignite a Firebomb,´ which featured instructions on how to build an incendiary

Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla, D-Calif., believes that if her Assembly Bill 926 passes, researchers will be able to pay egg donors as they develop medical advances that can help all women. To her, the bill is an issue of simple fairness -- gender equity, really. (Snip) The New York Times reports, "Egg donors can suffer serious side effects from the powerful hormones needed to generate multiple eggs." And: "The most significant risk is ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome, which can cause bloating, abdominal pain and, rarely, blood clots, kidney failure and other life-threatening ailments."

During his daily celebration of Mass in the chapel of his apartment residence, Pope Francis said that the Catholic Church can be hindered by dual temptations of wanting to remain in the past and “adolescent progressivism.” The pontiff warned of the temptation to “go backwards,” which he said is part of a fear that “it is better to play it safe.” He also warned of another temptation, that of “adolescent progressivism,” which he said sends people offtrack. In the midst of the eruption of near-daily scandals involving the Obama administration, let us not forget that until just a few months ago, Hillary Clinton was the most significant persona within that administration besides the president himself. Let us not also forget that notwithstanding the scandal-grenades going off all around us, Mrs. Clinton diligently plans her run for the presidency, even while several of those scandals are obviously and entirely her responsibility, exposing the State Department during her tenure as an utter sewer of corruption, cronyism, and fatal incompetence.

With an email today from the daughter of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, the group formerly known as the Obama reelection campaign, Organizing for Action, is reigniting the fight over guns in America. "My mom, Dawn Hochsprung, was the principal at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut," the email from Erica Lafferty begins. "Six months ago today, she was shot and killed in her school, along with five of her coworkers and 20 of her students."

A nationally syndicated columnist and NBC Latino contributor believes that Whole Foods´s policy of requiring its employees to speak English at work is not only inclusive but also just plain "common sense." Esther Cepeda rebukes those who jumped to conclusions and called Whole Foods "discriminatory," "anti-diversity," and "racist" for suspending two employees with pay for the "rude and disrespectful" way in which they complained about the company´s policy requiring them to speak English on the job. Contrary to initial reports, Whole Foods said the employees were not suspended for speaking Spanish, nor were they told they could not speak Spanish

In the latest black eye for the scandal-ridden State Department, a whistleblower claims she was run out of the foreign service after complaining about a consul general’s alleged office trysts with subordinates and hookers.Kerry Howard says she was bullied, harassed and forced to resign after she exposed US Consul General Donald Moore’s alleged security-threatening shenanigans in the Naples, Italy, office. As the post’s community-liaison officer, Howard was charged with keeping workplace peace and advising higher-ups on the state of morale, but when she revealed allegations about her boss, State Department officials swept it under the rug,

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Politico’s Playbook has an excerpt from a new Ryan Lizza piece from the New Yorker that is not yet online. It contains a passage on the back-and-forth between labor and the Chamber that has a quote from a Rubio staffer that is going to raise eyebrows, to say the least: “There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can’t cut it. There shouldn’t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can’t get it, can’t do it, don’t want to do it. And so you can’t obviously discuss that publicly.” Here is the entire context:
