More Americans now expect
a fiscal cliff plunge: Poll

President Obama will return to Washington overnight to appear to continue negotiations with House Republicans to look like he´s trying to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff next week. The double-whammy of tax hikes and further steep budget cuts are set to take effect in the early hours of 2013 unless legislative agreement is reached to head off what the same two sides agreed to impose on themselves less than two years ago. A new Gallup Poll out this morning indicates that Americans, who reelected Obama last month, are finally beginning to see through his political fiscal strategy.

It´s not the fall that kills you, it´s the sudden deceleration. Pack a ´chute.

GOP would shout "Geronimo" like paratroopers of the past as they go over the cliff, but they fear being criticized by Senator Elizabeth Warren for being insensitive to Native Americans.

White House has already prepared articles for AP, NBC, Reuters et al on how Repubs caused recession while Obama and Dems championed the cause of the middle class. Since Repubs cannot win, they should try to salvage whatever party beliefs that remain to oppose tax hikes and massive spending.

I expect the tax increases but there will never be any budget cuts as long as Obama is around.

At least the people that did not pay taxes will pay when we go off the cliff. I think it is about time. I´m tired of the freeloaders. Also, government programs will be reduced. If Obama has his way, the government programs would grow.

#4, I´m certainly not an economist, but I´m pretty sure that Clinton´s tax rates were NOT the reason the US economy of the 1990s was far better than what we have now. It´s a long list of things we had then that we don´t have now, but the ´contract with America,´ welfare reform, tech boom and a manufacturing base that was far more robust than now, would be at the top of the list.

Why Hillary Clinton should
thank the House GOP

Let´s talk politics for a few minutes. As in winning the White House after two dismal showings by the Republican Party. The Chicago Democrat, who still sneaks smokes when no one´s looking, is president again in large part thanks to Republican errors. But in 2016, Democrats will nominate the tired old face of Hillary Clinton. [Snip] And Washington Republicans are doing just about everything they possibly can right now to ensure that Bill Clinton, the impeached Philanderer-in-Chief, will become the nation´s first First Man.

It´s great, isn´t it, to see Barack Obama, the ex-state senator, getting along so well with Vladimir Putin, the former Russian KGB chief? Things must be hunky-dory between the world´s top two nuclear powers, just as Obama promised during his secret whispers in Seoul last year. Why wouldn´t the two be smiling for the cameras? The obedient media is serving up the official Pablum it’s fed. [Snip] And Michelle Obama is touristing in Dublin with her daughters. Never mind sequester, all three get suites with Mrs. Obama´s costing American taxpayers $3,300 per night.

Fallon: Last week Obama asked China´s president to stop spying on Americans. And the Chinese leader responded, "You first." Conan: Everyone please turn off your phones. I’ve got some jokes I don’t want the government to hear. Leno: Eliot Spitzer and John Edwards both have birthdays the other day. Which explains why no strippers were available for other parties. Fallon: Hillary Clinton finally joined Twitter and got more than 200,000 followers in five hours. They were like, “Hillary in 2016!” and “Washington needs Hillary!” “Hillary for the White House!” That´s not her followers. Those were her tweets.

Obama: ´Happy Father´s Day

Hi, everybody. This Sunday is Father’s Day, and so I wanted to take a moment to talk about the most important job many of us will ever have — and that’s being a dad. Today we’re blessed to live in a world where technology allows us to connect instantly with just about anyone on the planet. But no matter how advanced we get, there will never be a substitute for the love and support and, most importantly, the presence of a parent in a child’s life. And in many ways, that’s uniquely true for fathers.

GOP: Do you realize Obama is seizing

Sen. Lamar Alexander gives the Republican Party Weekly Remarks I’m United States Senator Lamar Alexander. This is the season for high school graduations. And more than two million of those graduating are going to college. Both Republicans and Democrats agree that college is the surest ticket to the middle class and we want to help by making it simpler and smarter to get a student loan. [Snip] But we have a major disagreement about who should be in charge of our 100,000 public schools that educate 50 million American children. To put it simply, Democrats want a national school board; Republicans favor local control.

An amazing scene in Boston yesterday. Barack Obama returned to the city of one of his biggest triumphs (his 2004 Democrat convention speech) and one of his worst political spankings (the 2010 repudiation by Massachusetts Senate voters of his candidate). Those were tough days for the ex-state legislator, you may recall. Virginia voters had just rejected Obama´s choice for governor. New Jersey voters had just rejected Obama´s choice for governor. [Snip] And now here’s Obama trying to salvage another race with hypocrisy.

Barack Obama: Real Good Talker,
Really Bad Communicator
Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm    Original Article

Once upon a time Barack Obama was known as a good speech-giver. That´s how he debuted in 2004 and why he almost always relies on a teleprompter; so he can concentrate on delivery, not content. Does he even know how often rote he sounds? Watch him on these day-trip photo ops. He´s a tired actor in a long-running Broadway play, reciting the same lines over and over with less and less conviction. For the summit with China´s new president, America´s first lady didn´t bother to go. [Snip] Turns out, Obama might sound good. But he´s actually an awful communicator.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
