Here is what we learned yesterday about the Jets with Greg McElroy as their starting quarterback: Nothing. Here is what we learned about starter Mark Sanchez, who was benched in favor of McElroy: Maybe this Jets’ mess hasn’t been his fault after all. And here is what we learned about backup Tim Tebow, who was inexplicably passed over as the starter when Sanchez was benched: He’s mad as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore. So he didn’t. Tebow, it was revealed following the Jets’ latest loss — yesterday’s lackluster 27-17 defeat to the Chargers

Tebow should be docked for one game´s pay for such a baby temper tantrum.

Tebows a competitor who doesn´t want to lose his edge rotting on a bench.Giving him menial plays to run is doing something for the sake of doing something.Tebows up against a media and fellow players who don´t think the football field is a church,so he´ll never get a fair chance.

Ridiculous column. Tebow has displayed the patience of Job. Get out of there, Tim. You can´t win (or even play) in that cesspool.

Really childish column. Why did the Jets trade for Tebow? They treated him like dirt all year. He essentially never played. The Jets are a very bad team with a bad coach. At least Tebow is interesting to watch. Tebow was way more patient with the Jets than he had to be.

Actually, as a person I like Tebow. I just don´t think he fits into the NFL which is really a passers league now. I think he will be out of the NFL next year.

Current Jets make it impossible to be a fan.
Tebow has my respect, and I hope to see him
playing anywhere else.
BTW, this article is crap.

The Jets give NYC a bad name.

Tebow signing with the Jets was a major mistake on both sides, easily foreseeable. It disrupted the team, did nothing for Tim in that hellhole market and absolutely destroyed Mark Sanchez.

Still, it was nice to see that pansy Cromartie get spun like a top yesterday.

Reply 11 - Posted by: Pearson365, 12/24/2012 10:27:48 AM     (No. 9081852)

Tebow was simply a gimmick to convince season ticket holders to renew for 2012 season. The stadium sharing Giants had just won the Super Bowl, so the Jets needed something to sell expensive tickets, with mandatory exhibition games, to Jet fans who were born yesterday. So, lots of media hype was generated by Teebow acquisition, with Joey from Queens calling into sports radio to rave about how Teebow would make the Jets instant winners.

Teebow will be traded to a Florida NFL team for a 4th round draft choice, and will be used again to sell season tickets. The Jets owe their other QB, Sanchez, $8 million, and will eat a large share of this in order to trade him for still another QB of the future.

Tim Tebow deserves so much better than this. I only hope that some hidden good comes to him as a result of going through this year. At the very least, he´ll learn some good life lessons and have a better sense of what it means to be "afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed."

Good for Tebow. He got a year in NY to see what a hell hole it is, got paid a lot of money to sit, stayed healthy, and can say he didn´t contribute to the mess that the Jets put on the field. Hope he makes out OK with another team.

I bet most of his salary went to his foundation to help kids. Can´t blame him for taking the money they offered. It wasn´t just for him

The writer´s entire condemnation of Tebow is based on "multiple sources", none of whom he names. That means that whatever truth is behind the allegations g=have been spun to make Tebow look as bad as possible.

So Tebow is human, stop the presses.

I´ve changed my mind - if Andrew Luck can have a great season with the Colts, whatever voodoo they used with him, could be used with Tebow and Tebow can play in this league after all.

Reply 17 - Posted by: kanphil, 12/24/2012 11:22:32 AM     (No. 9081975)

For all the criticism of his passing style, Tebow knows how to win football games. And he´s a great role model for kids. Everybody knew New York would eat him alive and spit him out. No surprises there. He´ll find a spot in the NFL and live to fight another day.

I think this reporter has things backwards. He´s dissing a quarterback who doesn´t get a chance to play for not playing but should be writing about a front office who brings a player in, gets all kind of publicity and then sits him on the bench and lets Sanchez run the ship a ground.(Who could forget the BUMBLE against the Pats?) Sounds like a franchise that´s in good hands to me.

The cowards in NY never have him a chance, because they are cowards and prefer to lose rather than risk being proved wrong. Fire Rex Ryan.

Q: What do you call a failed writer?

A: A sports writer.

Q2: What do you call a failed sportswriter?

A2: mark cannizzaro.

"This shows that, as genuinely nice a guy as Tebow is, he can play the same insidious political games other players do behind the scenes."

Somebody should take away cannizzaro´s thesarus before he hurts himself, or at least show him how to use it.

Insidious? Tim Tebow? Hardly. The guy has simply had enough B.S. from the nasty little pipsqueaks who have been badgering him since he found himself in the spotlight.

Murder your preggers girlfriend and then waste yourself in front of a coach? The sportspuds will crawl all over each other to give you a loving kissy-break.

Get bloody drunk and roll your rig, killing a passenger? Again, the sportsclowns will circle their wagons around you, offering their "support."

Stand up to the hypocrisy that has been swirling around you since before you even took a snap in the NFL? Jerkwads like cannizzaro practically fall off the toilet in abject phony outrage.

Screw these no-talent pencilpushers, and screw the NFL too. Tim Tebow is a straight-up guy, and the simple fact is that the little dirtballs who make a living off of men like Tebow have a hard time with straight-up guys. The Tebows of the world make them feel jealous and embarrassed.

HOPEFULLY...we will get Tebow back here in Florida where he is loved and appreciated. He IS a great player if given the chance. He proved himself with the Gators and with Denver. I don´t blame him for sitting out these last games. Why should he put himself out there and maybe get hurt. I wouldn´t put it past some members of his team to let that happen. What a bunch of Scum! They should be ashamed of the way they treated Tebow. I hope he has another chance some day to beat the snot out of that team OR any Team that Rex Ryan might be coaching. He certainly should be FIRED for the job he did this year as coach of the Jets!

Hooray for him.

I don´t think it was selfish as much as he´s tired of being treated like crap and threw it back in their faces. And I don´t blame him.

Reply 27 - Posted by: Muguy, 12/24/2012 12:52:34 PM     (No. 9082118)

The Jets did not honor their intentions and out of frustration, and essentially benched Tebow when he arrived. Usually when the starter is injured or falters, it would be Tebow´s job to go in. It appears the Jets wanted to look at #3 like it was a pre-season game. That has to hurt anyone.

This isn´t the first time this has happened, and if you want a perfect example of a "team player" look no further than the Texas Rangers´ Micheal Young. He played his heart out for them, and was moved to 2nd base to make room for Alfonso Soriano, then moved from shortstop to make room for Elvis Andrus, then moved to third base for Adrian Beltre with a nothing but a team attitude.

Now he is playing for the Phillies. It happens. Being a "team player" is really the only way, until management or coaches play with things and cause you to doubt why they are in charge.

I dare this guy to go out there and put his body on the line in a way that doesn´t make sense for his skills for a team that has shown nothing but hostility to him.

What a child.

NY sports writers are a different breed. This guy is a jerk because Tebow has handled this season with class and dignity. He did not ask to go to NY - but had to vacate Denver for Manning. Give him a break since he sets a good example for all of us through his faith.

Reply 32 - Posted by: horacer, 12/24/2012 1:29:41 PM     (No. 9082180)

The Jets are a circus. At the end of last season Santana Moss, who was a starter at WR, refused to go back into the last game of the season. Ryan´s gone, Tebow´s off to Jacksonville and a new coach will have to deal with Sanchez and the zoo.

Headline February 4, 2013 - Patriots win the Super Bowl!!!

Great writing everyone, especially #22... just not headline or article... and agree with most of you above, it was a gutsy, smart move benching himself...

Loved when announcers said how empty the Jets´ stadium was yesterday... and those there kept calling for Tebow!

Firmly believe Tim´s not playing all season at QB was payback [revenge?] by Ryan, for Tim leading Broncos over Jets last Nov and Tim´s 20-yard TD run to seal the deal... [Since the seats were already sold... Jets´ initial reason... $$$]

Tim is a Giant of a man... literally, saw him up close Father´s Day at Qualcomm with 27,000 others as he and Dr. David Jeremiah lead us in worship...

Ryan... more of a mouse...

Reply 34 - Posted by: cranky, 12/24/2012 2:12:06 PM     (No. 9082220)

Lets see. The Heisman trophy, taking an NFL team that could not win with receivers that could not catch a cold, to six straight wins, 7-2, beating Pittsburgh and making a joke out of the Jets, all prove that this guy is a lousy qb. Anyone can see that.

Year after year Ryan pronounces he will win the SB and looks like a fool. This preseason he says he has the best team he ever coached. His qb goes from bad to wrose and he keeps sayng he believes in him. This all proves the Jets problem is the qb who never got to play.

The next time Tebow is on the field with the Jets they will look even worse than the first.

Reply 35 - Posted by: Nevadadad46, 12/24/2012 2:34:40 PM     (No. 9082247)

Both Ryan and the NY libtard soprts writers treated Tim like a fourth class floor sweeper. Tim did exactly the right thing. Now, they want to curse him even more because he didn´t lift his head, grin a beaming smile, lick their boots and say, "Why, thankee Mr. Ryan fo da chance to proove m´sef again. Sho´nuff wite o´ya."

- there are limits to insulting behavior past which it it really, really hard to forgive.

I honestly feel that the New York Jets sissy
offensive line girls don´t like white quarterbacks.
I have seen these girls play bad,but c´mon
man to allow your WHITE quarterback to be sacked ELEVEN times is no excuse to me you
line girls are racist!! You don´t like white
quarterbacks.
Don´t tell me that isn´t true because it is either you are a racist or you are very
STUPID lines girls and can´t read defenses!!
It is one of the two either way you are made to look very bad and a very poor excuse for a human being!!
I am fed up with the Jets caliber of offensive protection!! IT SUCKS AND SO DO THE JETS AS HUMAN BEINGS!!

Reply 37 - Posted by: flatwater, 12/24/2012 6:04:09 PM     (No. 9082410)

Let´s see....The Jets pick Tebow up as a QB, and then refuse to play him as a QB.

Why would he be angry?

Screw the Jets. They´re a trash team, coached by a moron. If your starting QB is failing, give your backup a chance. Don´t just give him playing time in gimmick formations where everyone is keying on him. All you´re doing is trying to get him injured.

Reply 38 - Posted by: tillster, 12/24/2012 6:29:11 PM     (No. 9082441)

Some of us expect to work for our salary.
We don´t know what the Jets promised Tebow but I bet it wasn´t sitting on a bench for a full season.
Best thing for Tim is to be traded and see if he can fit in fulltime in the NFL.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
