| Allentown, Penn./Kansas City, Missouri- Gun enthusiasts thronged to shows around the country on Saturday to buy assault weapons they fear will soon be outlawed after a massacre of school children in Connecticut prompted calls for tighter controls on firearms. Reuters reporters went to gun shows in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Texas, and found long lines to get in the door, crowds around the dealer booths, a rush to buy assault weapons even at higher prices and some dealers selling out. Ask a person who talks about "assault weapons" to define the characteristic that make it an "assault weapon" and they can´t.

All those mass shootings were perpetrated by crazy people, who were dangerous to others and themselves. No NRA members have ever perpetrated mass shootings. Obviously the focus of the government should be on keeping dangerous crazy people from purchasing and possessing any type of firearm. Unfortunately politics has already got in the way.
Its is pretty clear to just about everyone that guns have been around in great numbers since long before the USA was founded, but that the splurge in these mass shootings of innocent people by dangerous crazy people only started a decade or so ago, after really violent movies and video games started to be created and made available to the general population, including crazy people who do not have the mental capacity to process violent multimedia video without it addicting and permanently affecting them in ways not fully understood yet, and that may well cause a very few of them to fall off the reality cliff and go out and commit mass homicide.
The politics of all this are also pretty clear, the small arms and ammunition industries, along with the gun accessory and parts industries are mostly Republican constituencies, while people who are mentally ill, with only a small percentage being both crazy and dangerous, are a big liberal Democrat constituency group with most of the mentally ill voting for liberal Democrats due to the liberal Democrats support of expanding social services, along with the fact that the liberal Democrats consider the mentally ill to have a disability and a voter in need of their help. That´s why the liberal Democrats will never blame a crazy person perpetrator after these mass shootings, and always put the blame on a gun, the NRA, or conservatives in general.

I´m not surprised at Liberals surprise that law abiding frightened to death citizens are anxious enough about their safety to stand in line to buy protection in the form of guns. When our own president advocates and approves violence in the streets there is no other choice. Violence in the streets by union thugs, ghetto dwellers everywhere, and has even involved illegal aliens flooding into our country. He is a rabble-rouser extraordinaire when it comes to hate and discontent.
The unthinkable has arrived. Our government is setting the stage for open revolt as a result of their Communist Socialist Administration attempting to move toward total government control. As another President said, "This will not stand!"

For not much money a simple ranch variety .22 can be made to fit their screwy definitions of "assault weapons". Stick on a flash suppressor, a different stock and a pistol grip and the owner becomes an official psychopath conservative.
Allegedly lanza had guns because he stole them after having failed a background check. That info, if true, seems to be getting lost in the shuffle by the fanatics.

I can assault you with a baseball bat.
I can assault you with a glass ashtray.
I can assault you with a knife.
I can assault you with a single-shot bolt-action rifle.
I can assault you with a single-action six-shooter.
Kindly define "assault weapon" for us.
Are they the same weapons policemen use in thousands of American cities?
Ever notice that the police usually arrive after something horrifying has already happened?

"There should be more strict background checks," said Abernathy, a Dallas resident. He said there should be a 30-day waiting period to buy weapons and a thorough background check that includes five references.

Schools and police stations were burning in Stockholm as violent riots continued for a fifth consecutive night. Emergency services were called to 70 separate incidents, including two torched primary schools, burning shops and a destroyed library building also housing a local police unit. Despite police claiming that the situation is beginning to calm down, critics say the riots were unavoidable after years of widening social gaps in a country which has the highest proportion of foreign-born citizens in Scandinavia.

The lawyer picked Thursday to succeed Patrick Fitzgerald as Chicago´s U.S. attorney is a former federal prosecutor best known for taking on corrupt politicians and powerful institutions such as the University of Notre Dame. Zachary Fardon would take over an office that has made its mark nationally by putting crooked government officials behind bars but increasingly faces pressure to do more to help in the fight against Chicago´s violent street gangs. The Democratic National Committee is accusing the GOP of "making up so-called ´scandals´ out of thin air." In an email to supporters, DNC Spokesman Brad Woodhouse writes that Republicans´ accusations of scandal aren´t legitimate — a claim that´s sure to draw howls from the right."Getting in President Obama´s way has been the top priority for Republicans in Congress since day one. Gracin’s handler quickly stepped in, nodding to the recording device in my hand and helpfully reminding him that he was on the record.

The Obama Administration fought to keep a search warrant for James Rosen’s private e-mail account secret, arguing to a federal judge that the government might need to monitor the account for a lengthy period of time. The new details are revealed in a court filing detailing a back and forth between the Justice Department and the federal judges who oversaw the request to search a Gmail account belonging to Rosen, a reporter for Fox News. A 2009 article Rosen had written about North Korea sparked an investigation; Ronald C. Machen, Jr., the U.S. Attorney who is prosecuting Stephen Jin-Woo Kim,

As Democrats and the media continue to hammer Virginia lieutenant governor hopeful E.W. Jackson for his past comments on social issues, the Christian minister says he is battling what he calls the “mainstream media’s caricature” of him. In an email sent to The Daily Caller this week, the running mate to Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli said “every one of those comments has a context and were spoken in my role as a minister, not as a candidate.” In particular, the black Republican took issue with the media’s outrage over his comments on abortion.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose
