| A yacht built for Apple´s late co-founder Steve Jobs has been impounded in Amsterdam because of a dispute over an unpaid bill to designer Philippe Starck, a lawyer said on Friday. Jobs, who died last year, never got to use the yacht – called Venus – but had commissioned the French designer to work on the vessel, which cost more than £80m to build. A lawyer representing Starck´s company, Ubik, said his client had received €6m out of a €9m commission for his work on the minimalist vessel and was seeking to recover the rest

After seeing the picture of it, I can´t say I blame him.

I keep a picture of my late father on his old forty-two foot wooden Casey cutter. The "Instantaneous" was sleek, graceful, just beautiful to look at, and forgiving to sail. He could single-hand it, though I couldn´t.
Who would want to bother with "THAT THING"?

Doubt Mr. Jobs cares anymore...
The marinas of Florida and California are filled with repossessed, impounded boats. I´m thinking the estate wants publicity for it so that some Russian or Asian mogul will pick up this ugly beast simply to boast that they own Jobs´ yacht.

The side view in the article is ugly to the max. Reminds me of Pre-WWI military ships. Wonder what the plan (top) view would show?
Notice the wheel house is all the way to the rear where the view is drastically obscured. I suspect it would be a real handful to navigate even if it has camera´s for those blind spots.

I don´t think it´s ugly. It´s different but still has cachet, IMO. You know it´s amazing inside. It reminds me of The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand...a different perspective than tradition dictates. But not ugly.
It does look a bit like a floating iPhone, which amuses me. But hey...the iPhone is an icon. =).

WASHINGTON — Schoolchildren from New Jersey shore communities battered by Superstorm Sandy will join Michelle Obama for a garden harvest next week. The White House says the first lady will also be joined Tuesday by students who helped plant the crops last month. The New Jersey students are from Union Beach Memorial School in Union Beach and Long Beach Island Grade School in Ship Bottom. Both schools were damaged in last October’s storm. TRENTON — President Barack Obama will return to New Jersey on Tuesday to survey Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts with Gov. Chris Christie, according to a statement obtained by The Star-Ledger. The visit will mark Obama´s second trip to the shore since the storm hit about six months ago. “As residents and businesses prepare for a busy summer season, President Obama will visit the Jersey Shore with Governor Christie on Tuesday to view the ongoing recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy devastated areas of the coastline last fall," the White House statement says.

In a long-awaited speech at the National Defense University, Barack Obama claimed that the nature of international terror attacks threatening the United States has changed since Sept. 11, 2001, with ´no large-scale attacks´ on America occurring since then. But his definition of ´large-scale attacks,´ his speech made clear, doesn´t include the 2013 Boston Marathon attack that wounded hundreds, the 2012 Benghazi terror attack that injured dozens and killed four, and the 2009 attack at Fort Hood that killed 13 and injured 30. All those attacks had the potential to leave far more American bodies in their wake than they actually did.

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. Longoria, 38, took home a real degree (not an honorary one) in Chicano studies from Cal State Northridge, where she physically attended classes for three years, according to TMZ. "Big day today!!!
