Full tex of NRA CEO Wayne La Pierre´s remarks delivered at 11a.m. Friday EST. The National Rifle Association´s 4 million mothers, fathers, sons and daughters join the nation in horror, outrage, grief and earnest prayer for the families of Newtown, Connecticut ... who suffered such incomprehensible loss as a result of this unspeakable crime. Out of respect for those grieving families, and until the facts are known, the NRA has refrained from comment. While some have tried to exploit tragedy for political gain, we have remained respectfully silent. Now, we must speak ... for the safety of our nation´s children.

As usual, Wayne LaPierre and the NRA have the guts to tell it like it is.

"..one week after.."

you see this FOREVER with commies and their MSM..
"one month after a child in Belize choked to death on an apricot seed, radical Rush Limbaugh said he thinks apricots do NOT contribute to.."
"ten years ago, this month, Paul Wellstone was killed in a plane.."
the communists are GREAT at creating pseudo holy/holidays commemorating ANYTHING secular or anti-freedom..
and.. continuing to bring them up in the form of "one week/month/year..."

Perhaps our communist masters are waiting for a Beslan here in the USA.

Perhaps an Opera House as in Moscow to further their ´gun control´ agenda.

Are we going to stand by and allow our kids to be exploited by these ignorant elected officials.

You will be able to judge the reason in his statement by the shrillness in the outcry by the left and the media.

Now we need to stand by them, whether you own a gun or not, whether you shoot or not. The NRA stands or and fights for our LIBERTY. Renew today. Join them today.

Obama, Holder, and the ATF have provide assault rifles to the Mexican drug cartels, then allowed them to immigrate into the USA. A law should be passed against Obama, Holder, and the ATF (Ruby Ridge, Waco, Fast and Furious). Obama promoted a muslim to Major then set him loose with assault weapons at Fort Hood. When will Obama and the democrats be stopped?

Thanks for the much needed frank and truthful remarks, Wayne. I will now renew my lapsed NRA membership - to a Life Membership. Keep fighting the fight against the ignorant, those who believe Obama´s socialist ideals and those who would try to rewrite our beloved and sacred Constitution.

Some posters on other threads are pooh-poohing the idea of putting armed guards in every school - it would be too expensive, it wouldn´t work, it´s not practical, it´s impossible.

In my county there is an armed deputy sheriff stationed full time in every high and middle school. Not sure about elementary schools. They patrol the halls wearing bullet proof vests and their official cars are parked at the front entrance to each school. Not only do they deter attacks, the deter bad behavior of any kind both inside and outside the school.

All it takes for the funding is a change in priorities by the county government. And you know that there is waste in any government no matter the size. If they get serious they will find the funding.

An armed professional in every school would be an answer provided they were not under the jurisdiction of Janet Napolitano and Homeland Security. We sure as hell don´t need their form of security.

Reply 11 - Posted by: rabbit, 12/21/2012 5:01:21 PM     (No. 9078407)

And you plan to put an armed guard on every playground? On every soccer field? At every birthday party? Have one accompany every group of 3 kids who goes on a bike ride? Every neighborhood barbecue?

The NRA could have come up with something coherent. It chose not to. Sad.

#11: You obviously did not read or at least did not understand the NRA´s position. Armed guards at schools was just one of many items mentioned in the full text. Let´s enforce the existing laws and let´s protect our children as well as we do our fatted politicians - especially the ones like the idiot Lilliputian Bloomberg. How did he ever get rich?

Hey #11, go ahead and impress us; What do you suggest? I really want to know.
Point is, with an active shooter on site every second or so means more bodies pile up. Having officers on site eliminates several minutes of response time, and lives WILL be saved.

Appearing on MSNBC´s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Wednesday, NBC´s chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd came up with a long list of excuses for President Obama´s poor speech performance in Berlin: "I want to give you a little context here....there was an attempt to shrink the crowd size....Maybe they would have gotten 25, 30, 40,000 people....President Obama feeds off a crowd very well." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump] Todd then grasped at other reasons for the lackluster event: "...you had that very distracting glass and you could just see that the President

Another Republican Super PAC is jumping into the increasingly nasty Massachusetts Senate battle, going after Democrat Ed Markey’s biggest weakness — his $1.3 million Maryland home. The America Rising PAC, recently founded by Mitt Romney’s former presidential campaign manager, is planning to deliver a letter today to Maryland’s comptroller urging the state to investigate why Markey has never paid state income taxes there despite living in the upscale Chevy Chase suburb for two decades, the Herald has learned. Markey’s residency status has been dogging him throughout his career, ever since the Herald reported in the early 1990s

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. Coroner´s officials are hoping the results will answer why the accident happened. Officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification. The death of the 33-year-old Hastings was announced Tuesday by his employer, BuzzFeed,

Meet the Women for Weiner. The former congressman, who apologized for the lewd picture scandal that ended his House career before launching a bid last month for New York City mayor, is holding a fundraiser hosted by “Women for Anthony” next week at the Manhattan home of an education activist and philanthropist. The host committee is led by his wife, Huma Abedin, and includes her sister, Heba; Rory Tahari, wife of designer Elie Tahari; and Cheryl Saban, the wife of California-based mega-donor Haim Saban, who funded a short film lauding Hillary Clinton’s tenure at the State Department

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Celebrity chef Paula Deen admitted in a recorded deposition to telling racist jokes, using the N-word, and planning a slavery-themed wedding, according to multiple reports. The May 17 deposition where she made the alleged admissions is part of a $1.2 million lawsuit brought by Lisa Jackson, the former manager of a Savannah, Georgia, restaurant run by Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. Jackson alleges in the suit that Deen used the N-word at the restaurant and that Hiers sexually harassed her. According to the reports, in the deposition, Deen replied “Yes, of course,”
