| New Jersey heavyweights Cory Booker and Chris Christie will not face off for the governor’s mansion next year, the Newark mayor confirmed Thursday. Booker said that he is exploring a run for his fellow Democrat Frank Lautenberg´s U.S. Senate seat in 2014, rather than taking on the popular New Jersey governor in 2013. Booker, who has been publicly flirting with a gubernatorial campaign, would have had an uphill battle against Christie, whose popularity soared in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Lautenberg, 88, has served five terms in the U.S. Senate since 1982, interrupted by a brief retirement.

Comments:
For those with short memories, Lautenberg was stuck on the ticket in New Jersey to run for the Senate, after the deadline for being able to do so. In other words, the union-led dRATS smacked the GOP again and won.

Good luck, Mr Mayor. As we know, Dimocrats stay in office until they get carried out in a zip-up rubber bag [Robert Byrd, Ted Kennedy, etc].

As a black politician, why get stuck in New Jersey politics when one can get elected to the US Senate and then end up as President in a few years?
It´s pretty clear now that the Democrats must always run and nominate a minority candidate in the future to win national elections, or the big black vote that they need to win might just stay home. More bad news for the likes of Hillary Clinton.

Booker will run and win. When Christie`s time is up a dem will take back the governorship and NJ will revert to the liberal hellhole it was pre-Christie.

Booker once spoke the truth about BO then was cowed, threatened, or chicagoed back to the plantation followed by his groveling at the feet of BO. His opposition should pound him on that.

Lautenberg is to NJ as Byrd was to WV. Highway funds galore. King of pork. If he wants to run again he´ll beat anyone. He´s already greased too many palms. Booker should challenge Christie in the Democrat primary for Governor.

I probably dont agree with him on much, but This guy is very, very impressive. It´ a shame he wants to waste his talents in the Senate. Christie needs to be defeated.

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
