While gun sales are spiking across the country in the wake of last week’s school shooting in Connecticut, people in the firearms industry aren’t necessarily enjoying the profits. Instead, they are gripped with worry about potential gun control fallout. Just ask Brian Sipe, owner of the Montana Rifleman barrel and action manufacturing company located on Montana 35 east of Kalispell. “I’m very concerned about legislation. If they do an assaults weapons ban, I’m going to have to lay off people,” said Sipe, who is in regular communication with firearms manufacturers across the county. Headline split by staff

If what the liberal Democrats want to do passes, and that is to ban the sale of all semi-automatic firearms, both rifles and handguns, that can "possibly" hold a clip or magazine containing over 10 rounds of ammunition, that are essentially the vast majority of modern firearms made and sold in the USA today, that action will eventually wipe out most of the current small arms industry in the USA, and with that, will eliminate thousands of well paying American jobs.

On Monday May 6, I stumbled across an Internet news story in the Washington Times about a threatened cyberterror attack that was scheduled to occur on Tuesday, May 7.According to this story by Shaun Waterman, the Department of Homeland Security had sent a bulletin to “the private sector” [SNIP] I am not a bank, a major corporation or a government agency, so although I found the story interesting, I promptly put it out of my mind—at least until I woke up the following morning, May 7, and discovered that my Internet service was down

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,/But in ourselves, that we are underlings.”—Shakespeare, “Julius Caesar” (Act I,Scene ii.)The ambiguity of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy about the end of the Roman republic and the onset of dictatorship teaches us that no matter how much we yearn for clarity, there is always an element of uncertainty in the fate of nations.Motive is subjective. Intention is debatable. Facts are elusive.[SNIP]But when you get right down to it, the fault for the nation’s general ignorance about the Benghazi coverup does not belong to the media;it belongs to ourselves.

I got an e-mail from Democratic lobbyist John Podesta last week that began “Dear Friend,” so I knew it had arrived at my inbox by accident. Podesta was the last chief of staff during the Bill Clinton presidency, and is currently the chair of the Center for American Progress, which as you can tell by the name is one of those groups trying to undermine our nation’s values and traditions under the guise of marching us into the 21st century’s version of “1984.” (Are we there yet?) One of the best levers the progressives have found to muscle us

On Friday, we were warned by Sen. Chuck Schumer not to “jump to conclusions” about “the events in Boston” or “to try to conflate those events” with the immigration reform bill hammered out by Schumer and the other seven senators who have appropriately identified themselves as gangsters. Schumer, a N.Y. Democrat, and the bipartisanly incorrect “Gang of Eight” unveiled their massive, 844-page immigration “reform” bill last week and hoped to rush it to a vote before anyone even knew what was in it.[SNIP] so let’s call it what it is: The Illegal Immigrant Legalization Bill.

Before the rise to power of the Nazis in Germany — which was arguably Europe’s most civilized country — there were approximately 9.5 million Jews living in Europe. As a result of Hitler’s genocidal policies, two out of three Jews were killed over the next 20 years. [SNIP]Which brings us to the carpet under which the contemporary world is sweeping the remains of murdered Christians, along with their living cousins — the falsely imprisoned, persecuted, and tortured — who survive for now among an increasingly hostile Muslim population in the Middle East and elsewhere.

When I was a kid, women were demanding “Equal Pay for Equal Work.” Somewhere along the way in the last 50 years, that has been conveniently truncated to “Equal Pay— Period.”At least, that SHOULD be the slogan — if truth in advertising laws could be applied to political posturing — because Equal Pay Day, which falls on Tuesday, April 9, is not about equal pay for equal work, but just about increasing women’s pay arbitrarily as a form of Marxist social engineering. The press release I got from the (George Soros-funded) National Partnership for Women & Families lamented

Last week, I somewhat audaciously proposed a “Restoration Amendment” to free the U.S. Constitution from decades of judicial precedent and neglect and return it as much as possible to the original intent of our nation’s founders. Many readers were grateful for the effort and pitched in with their own ideas for how the federal leviathan could be tamed, but many others were dismal and dismayed — certain that any honest effort to reform the nation was already a lost cause, and that the Constitution was already good enough if only people would follow it. Probably all of us who are concerned about

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. But when it came to their own accomplishments and sense of purpose, they had no time for excuses. Every one of you has a grandma or an uncle or a parent whose told you at some point in life

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) concerning the Internal Revenue Service scandal Sunday (video follows with transcript and commentary):CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: Moving on to the IRS problem at this moment, which is really sort of in its infancy. There will be lots more hearings coming up this week

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

WASHINGTON – White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday Republicans owe Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an apology for alleging she played a part in formulating the White House’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, last year that killed four Americans. Pfeiffer said on ABC’s “This Week” that the release of more than 100 pages of Benghazi emails and notes show “beyond a shadow of the doubt” that accusations she tried to change the narrative of what happened in the attacks was false. "And, frankly, I think that many of the Republicans
