Gun limits might hurt
Flathead manufacturers

While gun sales are spiking across the country in the wake of last week’s school shooting in Connecticut, people in the firearms industry aren’t necessarily enjoying the profits. Instead, they are gripped with worry about potential gun control fallout. Just ask Brian Sipe, owner of the Montana Rifleman barrel and action manufacturing company located on Montana 35 east of Kalispell. “I’m very concerned about legislation. If they do an assaults weapons ban, I’m going to have to lay off people,” said Sipe, who is in regular communication with firearms manufacturers across the county.

If what the liberal Democrats want to do passes, and that is to ban the sale of all semi-automatic firearms, both rifles and handguns, that can "possibly" hold a clip or magazine containing over 10 rounds of ammunition, that are essentially the vast majority of modern firearms made and sold in the USA today, that action will eventually wipe out most of the current small arms industry in the USA, and with that, will eliminate thousands of well paying American jobs.

Equal time for common sense on ‘equal’ pay

I’ve written a couple of columns in a row on some of the more blatant attempts by liberals to shut down free and fair debate on topics ranging from climate change to Christianity. The techniques employed in this campaign range from name-calling (climate change “deniers,” war criminals, homophobes) to actual criminalization of thought [SNIP] Last week, we saw the big lie on full display, as politician after politician bent over backwards to promote the idea of equal pay for women. I should say liberal politicians, because so far as I can tell, the only purpose of this campaign was for liberal

The campaign to marginalize conservatives and their traditional values has many facets.Last week, we talked about the efforts in academia to restrict access to people whose beliefs are not in tune with modern liberalism, but that is just one small component of an ongoing multi-front war.Today, let’s focus on climate change and the effort by the left to lull you into peaceful acquiescence of a world view that will allow “people smarter than you” to make massive changes in our economy in order to protect you from an impending crisis. I know, I know, it sounds a lot like Obamacare

Is free speech intended for everyone?
Or just liberals?

What is it about liberals that makes them so afraid of free speech, free thought and free expression of ideas, especially on college campuses? You may have heard about the absolute terror which faculty and students at Rutgers University greeted the news that former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had been chosen as the commencement speaker at this May’s graduation ceremony. [SNIP]Conservatives, meanwhile, seem to be able to cope with the idea that liberals have differing opinions without trying to burn them at the academic stake. Take, for instance, the March 7 announcement that Montana State University in Bozeman

The best show on TV last week wasn’t “The Walking Dead.” It wasn’t “Downton Abbey.” And it sure wasn’t “The Academy Awards.” [SNIP] No matter what else she has done before, or does after, former RT-America anchorwoman Liz Wahl should always be remembered and thanked for telling the truth about “the enemy within.” Wahl had spent the last two weeks feeding the Kremlin’s propaganda to her gullible American TV audience about the Ukrainian uprising and the Russian occupation of Crimea. But finally, she couldn’t ignore her conscience any longer, so she looked straight into the camera and told her Russian bosses to

You have to hand it to Nancy Pelosi: She was dead-on accurate when she claimed Congress had to pass Obamacare before we would find out what was in it. The latest case in point is the “Shared Responsibility Payment,” which appears in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, but hasn’t been widely appreciated for its Orwellian genius until the IRS started to promote it this year. The “Shared Responsibility Payment” is the penalty U.S. citizens have to fork over to their federal overlords if they fail to accede to the government’s order that they purchase health insurance for themselves

Chalk one up for the good guys — well, sort of. After a week of mockery, derision, and disdain, the Federal Communications Commission has announced that it won’t put observers in newsrooms after all. FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai’s op-ed in the Wall Street Journal on Feb. 10 had alerted the public to the dangers of having government representatives querying news bosses about how they decide what stories to cover — and which ones not to cover. The implicit threat of such heavy-handed research is that the government could be on the verge of announcing that IT will decide what stories are important to

Just what we needed — another item to add to the ever burgeoning file labeled “Things that can’t possibly be true in America, but are anyway.” Consider this monstrosity: Our formerly constitutional government, in the form of the Federal Communications Commission, has developed a plan to put observers in the nation’s newsrooms in order to better understand “the process by which stories are selected.” Of course, they won’t just “understand” the process; they will most assuredly and dangerously alter it, merely by the implied threat of their presence in the formerly sacrosanct newsroom. Just ask anyone who ever worked for a newspaper

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No
