DEVELOPING: Jon Hammar, the U.S. Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a gun charge, will be released today, his mother told Fox News Radio. Olivia Hammar said the judge hearing Hammar´s case issued a ruling in his favor and that her son is to be released at a time on Friday yet to be announced. No more details were available. Hammar, 27, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been stuck in a notorious, drug cartel-controlled prison just 15 miles south of the U.S. border since Aug. 13, after he crossed into Mexico and declared an antique shotgun

Wonderful news, Merry Christmas to him, and to his family.
PS
I am still not going to Cozumel in 2013.
Mexico and the people from that country do not show respect for America.
There are many other wonderful places for vacations.

Coincidental with the call for a tourism boycott? Possibly the only thing that scares the "land of the shake-down artist". They can´t rob or extort you if you don´t cross the border. Like the cops robbing the downed private jet, many Mexicans have thievery in their genes.

Just read this and have a couple of thoughts.
1. I´ll celebrate when I know he´s safe. When he´s on American soil and totally free. I wouldn´t put it past our own authorities to make under-handed deals that take his rights away from him.
2. Soft boycott of Mexico for the rest of my life.
3. Why the heck was more attention not given to this story by right leaning bloggers?
4. To the mainstream media this never happened. They didn´t report it so it just didn´t happen.
5. When someone finally (after months) asked the Whitehouse about this publicly, Hammar gets released. Tells me the WH turned a blind eye because they don´t care.

Wonderful news for this Marine and his family. This should be a wake up call to all Americans. We are held in contempt by most of the world, including those we help the most. That´s what left when respect and fear is removed from political reality.

Thank you, BOR. The world understands strength. The Obama regime hasn´t got a clue about strength. Bullying, yes. Strength, no.

And to think that Barry and Hillary´s crack State Dept told Jon Hammer´s parents that nothing could be done for their son.

I travel to Mexico frequently and disagree with many postings here. The Mexican´s I work with are smart and hard working, but I can tell you they are really POed about fast and furious. I was there when the story first broke. If anything the treatment of this marine was a slap back at America for F & F. The gun was perfectly legal to take across the border with the proper paperwork and everyone in Mexico knows that.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are hundreds of Americans still being held in Mexican jails(mostly on trumped up charges). We need the State Dept to look into all of them, not just those that make the news. We cruise to some Mexico ports but never get off the ship till we reach another country.

But I am still never setting foot in Mexico again. The decline of Mexico saddens me as the country is beautiful, the food outstanding, and it´s people are generally kind and friendly. We had many a wonderful vacation in Mexico but no more.

Great news to be sure, but let´s be careful about the Mexico bashing. Yes, they are inherently corrupt and unable to support their population... They deserve a heap of criticism for their failure as a state. But the corruption has been greatly multiplied and the horror of Mexican ultra-violence on a terrorism level is financed, lock stock and barrel by AMERICAN drug users giving billions every year to the Mexican drug lords. Mexico´s a mess and we´re, as a nation, by no means an innocent bystander.

Bill can be a blowhard but when he uses HIS bully pulpit and star power for causes such as this, ya gotta love him. Others have it and do not lift a finger. I loved BOR´s obvious irritation at having to spar with such a nitwit yesterday. (Beckel). MERRY CHRISTMAS JON!

When a video of high school student Jeff Bliss calling out his teacher went viral, a lot of people started talking about the state of our education system and ways to improve it. However, almost a year since the video was posted, not much has changed. Take this attempted explanation of Common Core’s approach to math: (Letter & Charts) How is this helping? It´s not just carriage horse drivers saying neigh to plans for vintage cars tooling around Central Park. The Central Park Conservancy, the nonprofit organization that manages the city’s most famous greenspace, is coming out against a proposal backed by Mayor de Blasio to replace the horse-drawn carriages with replica old-time cars. Doug Blonsky, the conservancy’s president & CEO, told the Daily News that introducing the electric vehicles to the park would be a bad idea. “Forty million people visit Central Park each year, including runners, bicyclists, kids and dog owners,” Blonsky said Wednesday. “Adding vehicles to the mix will make the

Shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, a 19-year-old in a hoodie and baggy jeans was captured on a grainy black-and-white surveillance video urinating into a reservoir that slakes the thirst of Portland, Ore.’s 600,000 or so residents. (Cue the disgusted “Ewwwwwwwws!” right here.) But really, Portland Water Bureau officials, do you have to flush 38 million gallons of potable water for the sake of a cup or two of human urine? That’s how much the bladder comfortably holds, although the bladder in question obviously wasn’t comfortable. We get the fact that Beervana prides itself on its water supply. The water bureau

BISMARCK, N.D. — A federal judge on Wednesday overturned a North Dakota law that bans abortions when a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks into pregnancy and before many women know they’re pregnant. U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland said the law is “invalid and unconstitutional” and that it “cannot withstand a constitutional challenge.” The state attorney general said he was looking at whether to appeal the decision by the Bismarck-based judge. North Dakota is among several conservative states that have passed new abortion restrictions in recent years, but abortion rights supporters called

After devoting 15 minutes to a Barack Obama interview in the last 24 hours, CBS piled on with another seven minutes devoted to a "scary powerful" top aide. Charlie Rose offered a puff piece on Alyssa Mastromonaco, Obama´s deputy chief of staff. The CBS This Morning co-anchor on Thursday offered no tough questions and instead repeatedly underlined just how important she is. Rose marveled, "You know what somebody called you? Scary powerful." The co-host narrated, "We recently spoke to her about her low profile, high power role. Every time I read a piece about you, it talks about power."

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes.
