| DEVELOPING: Jon Hammar, the U.S. Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a gun charge, will be released today, his mother told Fox News Radio. Olivia Hammar said the judge hearing Hammar´s case issued a ruling in his favor and that her son is to be released at a time on Friday yet to be announced. No more details were available. Hammar, 27, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been stuck in a notorious, drug cartel-controlled prison just 15 miles south of the U.S. border since Aug. 13, after he crossed into Mexico and declared an antique shotgun

Wonderful news, Merry Christmas to him, and to his family. PS I am still not going to Cozumel in 2013. Mexico and the people from that country do not show respect for America. There are many other wonderful places for vacations.

Coincidental with the call for a tourism boycott? Possibly the only thing that scares the "land of the shake-down artist". They can´t rob or extort you if you don´t cross the border. Like the cops robbing the downed private jet, many Mexicans have thievery in their genes.

Just read this and have a couple of thoughts. 1. I´ll celebrate when I know he´s safe. When he´s on American soil and totally free. I wouldn´t put it past our own authorities to make under-handed deals that take his rights away from him. 2. Soft boycott of Mexico for the rest of my life. 3. Why the heck was more attention not given to this story by right leaning bloggers? 4. To the mainstream media this never happened. They didn´t report it so it just didn´t happen. 5. When someone finally (after months) asked the Whitehouse about this publicly, Hammar gets released. Tells me the WH turned a blind eye because they don´t care.

Wonderful news, if it comes to pass. That said, stay out of Mexico. Do not go to Mexico. It is a criminal state and it´s people hate Americans.

O´Reilly will take the credit, but all of Fox News was all over this. Any doubts about the power of mass media?

Wonderful news for this Marine and his family. This should be a wake up call to all Americans. We are held in contempt by most of the world, including those we help the most. That´s what left when respect and fear is removed from political reality.

Thank you, BOR. The world understands strength. The Obama regime hasn´t got a clue about strength. Bullying, yes. Strength, no.
And to think that Barry and Hillary´s crack State Dept told Jon Hammer´s parents that nothing could be done for their son.

I travel to Mexico frequently and disagree with many postings here. The Mexican´s I work with are smart and hard working, but I can tell you they are really POed about fast and furious. I was there when the story first broke. If anything the treatment of this marine was a slap back at America for F & F. The gun was perfectly legal to take across the border with the proper paperwork and everyone in Mexico knows that.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are hundreds of Americans still being held in Mexican jails(mostly on trumped up charges). We need the State Dept to look into all of them, not just those that make the news. We cruise to some Mexico ports but never get off the ship till we reach another country.

What #5, #11 & #12 said. Bill O´Reilly does deserve credit for helping to get Jon Hammar released for Christmas because Cpl. Hammar´s parents said they could get NO help from the hillary-clinton-obama-"state-department"..

Good... thrilled for this young man and his family.
But I am still never setting foot in Mexico again. The decline of Mexico saddens me as the country is beautiful, the food outstanding, and it´s people are generally kind and friendly. We had many a wonderful vacation in Mexico but no more.

Great news to be sure, but let´s be careful about the Mexico bashing. Yes, they are inherently corrupt and unable to support their population... They deserve a heap of criticism for their failure as a state. But the corruption has been greatly multiplied and the horror of Mexican ultra-violence on a terrorism level is financed, lock stock and barrel by AMERICAN drug users giving billions every year to the Mexican drug lords. Mexico´s a mess and we´re, as a nation, by no means an innocent bystander.

Bill can be a blowhard but when he uses HIS bully pulpit and star power for causes such as this, ya gotta love him. Others have it and do not lift a finger. I loved BOR´s obvious irritation at having to spar with such a nitwit yesterday. (Beckel). MERRY CHRISTMAS JON!

Appearing on MSNBC´s Andrea Mitchell Reports on Wednesday, NBC´s chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd came up with a long list of excuses for President Obama´s poor speech performance in Berlin: "I want to give you a little context here....there was an attempt to shrink the crowd size....Maybe they would have gotten 25, 30, 40,000 people....President Obama feeds off a crowd very well." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump] Todd then grasped at other reasons for the lackluster event: "...you had that very distracting glass and you could just see that the President

Another Republican Super PAC is jumping into the increasingly nasty Massachusetts Senate battle, going after Democrat Ed Markey’s biggest weakness — his $1.3 million Maryland home. The America Rising PAC, recently founded by Mitt Romney’s former presidential campaign manager, is planning to deliver a letter today to Maryland’s comptroller urging the state to investigate why Markey has never paid state income taxes there despite living in the upscale Chevy Chase suburb for two decades, the Herald has learned. Markey’s residency status has been dogging him throughout his career, ever since the Herald reported in the early 1990s

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was “starting to get nervous” about passing immigration reform, suggesting that opponents of the bill were gaining momentum. "I certainly wouldn´t presume to speak for Harry Reid, but I think he´s starting to get nervous," Cruz said in an interview with conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. The Senate this week is debating the Gang of Eight’s bipartisan immigration reform proposal. Reid (D-Nev.) is hoping to pass the measure before the July recess. Cruz suggested that Reid hoped to move the bill quickly to avoid scrutiny

Los Angeles County coroner´s officials said Wednesday the body recovered from a fiery, single-car crash in Hollywood that apparently killed journalist Michael Hastings will likely undergo an autopsy Thursday. But an official cause of death and closure of the case is not likely for four to six weeks or perhaps longer, they said. Coroner´s officials are hoping the results will answer why the accident happened. Officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification. The death of the 33-year-old Hastings was announced Tuesday by his employer, BuzzFeed,

Meet the Women for Weiner. The former congressman, who apologized for the lewd picture scandal that ended his House career before launching a bid last month for New York City mayor, is holding a fundraiser hosted by “Women for Anthony” next week at the Manhattan home of an education activist and philanthropist. The host committee is led by his wife, Huma Abedin, and includes her sister, Heba; Rory Tahari, wife of designer Elie Tahari; and Cheryl Saban, the wife of California-based mega-donor Haim Saban, who funded a short film lauding Hillary Clinton’s tenure at the State Department

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

Celebrity chef Paula Deen admitted in a recorded deposition to telling racist jokes, using the N-word, and planning a slavery-themed wedding, according to multiple reports. The May 17 deposition where she made the alleged admissions is part of a $1.2 million lawsuit brought by Lisa Jackson, the former manager of a Savannah, Georgia, restaurant run by Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. Jackson alleges in the suit that Deen used the N-word at the restaurant and that Hiers sexually harassed her. According to the reports, in the deposition, Deen replied “Yes, of course,”

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete
