Am I a Threat?
American Thinker, by A Marine Officer

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 12/21/2012 8:16:37 AM

I am a Commissioned Officer currently serving on Active Duty in the United States Marine Corps. I have deployed five times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I have been granted a Top Secret security clearance three times during my career after thorough background investigations (and polygraph tests) by various Federal agencies. I have never in my life been treated for any type of psychological disorder. I am also the owner of several firearms; I own two "assault" rifles, a shotgun, and three handguns.

Of course you are a threat. Not a threat to your neighbors, me, my grandchildren, but a threat to an oppressive government. You are the very threat our founders knew was essential for the survival of our constitutional republic. Anyone who considers you a threat based on what you have shared, has something in mind other than our republic in it´s intended form as designed and defined in our founding documents.

The nation is now facing the tyranny of a new "King George" in the form of Barack Obama and his army of looters, moochers, the Democrat Party and the Media. The odds are not good. It took 50 years to get to the mess the nation is now in and it will take another 50 to recover. I won´t be around to see it. Thank you for your service, sir, from another vet and assumed threat to the current government; S/SGT USAF-SS, 1963-1967.

FTA: "New and stricter gun control legislation.... would be like punishing all Muslims just because a small few choose to commit acts of terror."

To battle the progressives where they live, this is a meme that can have several positive political permutations. For example, tie accepting the ban on "assault rifles" to active Muslim profiling at airports and a ban on terrorist breeding grounds known as mosques. The progressive MO is to say something over and over long enough that the low information crowd begins to accept it as if it were an original thought.

Even non political school kids reject the tyranny of he government when they dump the school lunches forced on them by a liberal knows best government.Bloomberg thinks getting rid of salt, big sodas and trans fats are the big answer to obesity when I bet NY is still one of the most obese cities in the country.

I´m not sure the psychiatric community is up to this task either. They´re mostly trained in liberal perspective schools ripe with group think and the culture of throwing a pill at a problem.

But anyway, this marine speaks for millions of people with simple common sense.

Armed law-abiding Americans are a threat.

They´re a threat to tyranny.

They´re a threat to criminals.

They´re a threat to those who seek to do this nation harm.

So far no one thinks it odd that the firearms that are among the least likely to be used in a homicide are those most villified by those on the Left and those who haven´t any idea about how a firearm is operates or employed?

The Founders of this nation had experienced the attempted confiscation of the most modern firearms of their time, and made sure that when such threats to liberty would inevitably come to the levers of power with the belief that the individual exists for the well-being of the state that the individual would have the means to serve as a check and balance to counter such a threat.

Tyrants, dictators and both sides of the socialist coin - national socialists and communists - have always feared an armed citizenry, and the reason for that is such philosophies do not respect the rights of free men, but instead rely on compulsion at every turn - and the lives of 100 million killed last century are stark evidence of this fact.

Compulsion, control, and dominance over the spirit and beliefs of the individual is made far tougher when those individuals have the means to resist.

If you live in flyover country, lay in a supply of popcorn and get ready to watch a continuing comedy drama being staged for your amusement by the progressives of San Francisco. The driving force is the classic dirty little secret of progressivism, greed and envy, and these deadly sins are amply on display in Baghdad-by-the-Bay these days.(snip)Yesterday, hundreds of SEIU members rallied in front of Twitter HQ to denounce the greed of the company that provides jobs and plenty of other tax revenue to assorted governments that employ SEIU members. Last week we witnessed repeated efforts by Democrats to polarize the country along racial lines. Eric Holder, speaking at Al Sharpton´s conference, implied that he and the President are being treated harshly because they are black. They embraced me warmly, treated me respectfully and supported me enthusiastically. The liberal media on the other hand set out to destroy me. My white Democrat opponent was even caught on camera

Harry Reid’s jihad against the Koch Brothers has already yielded a hilarious video compilation of his 134 mentions of their name. But now with new information, his Koch addiction can become a potent tool in the hands of Republicans. Call it karma, if you like, but the former boxer now leading the Senate majority has left himself wide open. It turns out that Koch Industries employees and PACs have donated to quite a large number of Congressional Democrats.(snip) The ads practically write themselves: Mary Landrieu’s Majority Leader says the Koch Brothers are un-American. The internal contradictions of the progressive alliance that dominates San Francisco have erupted into violence, and there is every sign it will continue. Conservatives have an opportunity if we are clever. (snip)I had not set foot on Hayes Street for at least a couple of decades when I went there last week. I was utterly shocked by the transformation, and more than that, by the hostility of some of the people I was with toward the newcomers. Alas, another reporter asked me the same question I have been repeatedly asked for the past five years. “As an African-American, why are you a member of the Tea Party?” It dawned on me to ask the reporter, “If you are a thinking patriotic American, why are you not a member of the Tea Party?” It is stunning that reporters cannot see the absurdity and racism against white voters in their assumption that Tea Party membership (pushback against Obama's agenda) equals racism. For the first time in U.S. history, are Americans required to submit to their president's agenda or suffer the mainstream media and Democratic party branding an R on

Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens penned a putrid op-ed in the Washington Post claiming he knew how to fix the Second Amendment to end controversy over its true meaning. The first 10 amendments to the Constitution placed limits on the powers of the new federal government. (Snip) As Second Amendment expert and activist Clayton Cramer says, Stevens is pushing a bunch of hornswaggle. I wish that I could say that Justice Stevens was engaged in an accurate although misleading statement. But it is not even that. It is both inaccurate and misleading – and not even in a very clever way.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you
