Letter from Mexican Ambassador
Dampens Hope for Early
Release of Jon Hammar

Any hope that Jon Hammar, the Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a disputed gun charge, might be freed in time for Christmas has apparently been dashed by a terse letter a top Mexican diplomat sent to Hammar’s congresswoman.(Snip) "As you know well, Mexico has had very stringent gun-control laws in place for many years, and have reinforced their application as a result of the flow of weapons illicitly purchased in the U.S. and then trafficked into Mexico and into the hands of transnational criminal organizations," Sarukhan wrote.
Headline resplit and Snip added by staff.

Comments:
Put the "Hammar" down. Close the border and ban travel.

Just tell old stupid prez that every mexican they find in the US will be put in outdoor prisons and fed bread and water until out Marine is free. The hubris is astounding, their thousands pour over our border to mooch on us and bammy is dumb enough to give them freebies. Enough!!

Boycott Mexico for vacations, go to Jamaica instead. How about we send back 10 million of the illegals here if you don´t release him by midnight?
Obama spent one million dollars for a state dinner for the Mexican President. I suggest he get on his phone right now, OR wait to start his luxury vacation until Hammar is released.

Put the blame where it belongs. Holder and fast and furious.

I am angry at the Mexican Governbment as well but posters please put your anger onto the correct culprit. This is a very thinly veiled reprimand for fast and furious. Hammer has had the incredible misfortune of becoming a disposable pawn in a nast dispute between Mexico and The US over Fast and Furios. Wasn´t it only a few days ago that another fast and furious gun was found at the seen of a drug cartel shootout? One in which a young mexican beuty pageant contestant was killed?

Mexico has been angry about F&F for some time but has been completely ignored while the One ran an election campaign that could not be marred by hundreds of innocent dead bosies.

The MSM had no problem ignoring dead women and children across the Border. Now Zippy is in for four more and Mexico is going to get hois attention one way or another.

Pray for this fine young man, he is going to need all of our prayers. The Mexicans are holding him accountable for the crimes of the Holder Justice department and our disgusting MSM and Leftist administration is just fine with that.

As a1957-1961 USAF vet I have asked the American Legion to lead the effort to instantly request US Citizens vacation in some other place then Mexico since the ruling class in Mexico is smitten with anti-US stands of all kinds...including holding US Marine Jon Hammar.

What´s wrong with a few sanctions? Our gunrunning President and Attorney General aren´t going to touch this and are abetted by the wuss MSM. Words and outrage are getting public attention but, a corrupt and lawless country like Mexico couldn´t care less. Why not introduce legislation to impose sanctions if this Marine isn´t released such as imposing travel restrictions to the Yucatan. Cancun and Cozumel would be fishing villages again in a year.

Sad as this situation is, the reality is you don´t bring weapons or even ammo into Mexico. I have no idea what this guy was thinking. Who needs a shotgun to vacation in a Central American country? Bottom line, you don´t mess with Mexican authorities. Ask any border state resident.

Sounds like revenge for Fast and Furious. Which I don´t blame the Mexicans for. Afterall, they can´t get to Holder or the others except to hold this poor jarhead in the prison. They won´t starve him or hurt him, but they´ll keep him long enough to get what they want. Holder better be ready to cough up whatever it is too

Reply 11 - Posted by: jasmine, 12/20/2012 4:39:29 PM     (No. 9076618)

An innocent American Marine is in jail, paying the price for the Fast and Furious stupidity cooked up by this administration.

Aren´t you proud, America?

The President of your once great United States doesn´t carry enough clout to get an innocent American Marine out of a Mexican prison.

Belize is cleaner, prettier, safer for the family, and far friendlier. Great diving sites. Costa Rica is also worth a look -- surprisingly cheap airfare and no drug war going on.

Wonder what would happen if a bunch of Marine vets formed a posse? This prison is just a few miles south of the border.

Reply 16 - Posted by: bighambone, 12/20/2012 6:07:11 PM     (No. 9076703)

Well, if President Obama made a friendly telephone call to the new Mexican Presidente and said that he was going to issue an Executive Order stopping the issuance of US visas to Mexican citizens until this US citizen was released and returned to the USA, it would be no time before the guy was on a commercial jet heading back to the USA, probably in a first class seat.

If that does not happen, chances are that he will have to mark time in Mexico until his Mexican judicial hearing in January, at which time he will be ordered deported to the USA. The Mexicans already tried to extort money from the guy´s family but that failed, so the Mexicans are quickly running out of money making options, and the guy is causing the Mexicans a lot of bad PR in this country.

If you think their gun laws are very stringent, check out their illegal immigration laws. They do NOT hand out drivers´ licenses to illegal immigrants in Mexico! They make the US look like a wussy country.

#9: he was given bogus information from OUR border patrol. The gun he had is actually NOT a military weapon according to Mexican authorities. What happened? He neglected to bribe the right person.

Our government is ignoring this. They are allowing this man -- this hero who has served tours of duty for our nation -- to rot in prison and done nothing. Barack Obama´s administration does not care about Americans. Does not care about military.

Call your congress people and let them know you will boycott Mexico and its interests until Jon Hammar is free. And also let your congress people know that you will boycott their interests until they make a concerted effort to bring this about.

Andrew came a-courting one day. He had been introduced to my daughter, Susie by my son Max, her brother. Max and Andrew were best friends. Just out of college, Max worked as a busboy at a high-end restaurant called 72 Market Street. Andrew was a waiter (higher status) at a nearby diner called Hal´s. Susie brought him home to seek her father’s approval. My wife, the actress Alley Mills, and I had them to dinner. Andrew sat at the table in front of a window. The battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party has begun. On one side is the Tea Party. On the other side stand Karl Rove and his establishment team, posing as tacticians while quietly undermining conservatism. Yesterday, the New York Times reported that the “biggest donors in the Republican Party” have joined forces with Karl Rove and Steven J. Law, president of American Crossroads, to create the Conservative Victory Project. The Times reports that this new group will dedicate itself to “recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts ..

I was having a really good day yesterday when it call came crashing down when I read a post on a friend and colleague’s Facebook page. We had lost a mutual friend and colleague. Lee Rodgers died early yesterday morning after many long hours of heart surgery and attempts to save his life. I immediately began to shake and then the tears flowed and flowed as I buried my face in my hands. He was not only a friend of mine and a former co-worker. Lee was instrumental in my pursuit of talk radio as a career.

If present trends continue, the Republicans will likely soon fall out of political viability; and the Grand Old Party will be the Grand Defunct Party. They are well on their way to becoming the 21st Century incarnation of the Whigs.Let’s consider: At the national level, Republicans have lost four of the last six presidential elections; if one measures the popular vote, they have lost five of the last six. Indeed, over the last six elections, the GOP has averaged approximately 44.8 percent of the popular vote, whereas the Democrats have won 48.8 percent.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
