We aren´t having babies because women are taught to hate men. No man wants to have babies with a hateful feminist shrew.

Please allow me to play devil´s advocate to poster #1. Perhaps not enough babies are being produced because too many men won´t commit to the relationship. Few women want to raise a child alone.

There will always be enough babies -- just not the local brand we used to prefer.

Having a child is an investment in the future, the future beyond your own life time. This requires a system of belief that values the future and sees your foregoing of some current pleasures as well worth it to build a family and a legacy. Our previous Christian world view supported this value system. Our present secular humanist world view does not.

The ´necessity´ of the two-income paradigm is a real family-formation damper. How we got there - and why we seem to be stuck there - is a topic deserving of a long public discussion. However, it seems to be more of an urban/Blue-State problem.

On the topic, if one is in a stable marriage and somehow thinks that having just two (or 2.1) children is all that the planet can handle - consider that so many folks are not in stable marriages - or too old to have kids safely. So you folks (including my three adult daughters), having three - or four - kids should be considered the new normal. And luckily here in Red State paradise that view seems to taking hold among the ´´affluent´´.

Well thank heavens that the dems made sure that we all get free birth control. That should solve everything. Wait....

Liberals in the USA could care less about all the figures in the article. As they know that all they have to do is open up the US borders to the third world, and a multitude of young people and babies will appear to help transform America to a liberal utopia.

Any society which has given itself permission to kill its own babies has placed Evil at the core of its being. Death begets death.

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free is an old saying which is right on target today. I blame it on feminism. And I´m a woman, married 32 years. Got the ring, the wedding, the commitment, the responsibility and the future because I value myself enough to accept nothing less.

There are plenty of babies, they´re just the wrong kind.

What gets me is the fact that we all scoffed at the campaign ad, Life of Julia. Little did we realize that such a huge voter base existed. You want a dog whistle to your potential voters? This was barely heard by conservative humans, but too late to reverse the effect.

When you have irresponsible men planting the seeds of irresponsibility into women who don´t want to take care of a 20 something Baby Daddy along with their Baby Babies, and are willing to let the gov´t. take care of them while they troll for the next breed stud, we got a problem. To say nothing of the fact that the gov´t rewards such behavior while dictating the foods we should ingest, the medical procedures we are allowed to obtain, the acceptable use of private property, and the proper locations we might celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus.

In my own life, I don´t see this as a problem. "Feminism" isn´t even on the radar in 2012. Both the 20-something males and females are perfectly willing to commit and most find someone.

I´m going to go closer to home. The economy. It´s not affordable to raise more than a couple kids who have a decent chance to grow up and not be part of the economic underclass. Not only do you and your wife have to get educated and established and pay off your student loans, at which point you´re getting pretty old, but you have to have enough $ for the kids to be raised properly to have a high chance of getting in the correct schools, and getting through grad school, etc.

I´m not being classist, but realistic. A service economy is not something you really want to pass down to the next gen. It wasn´t always that way. The next gen used to automatically do better than you.
