More than 30 Michigan schools have closed two days early for the holidays because of a string of “rumors” running rampant throughout the neighborhoods that a) there might be violence against students; and b) the Mayan calendar predicts apocalypse on Friday morning. Detroit’s NBC affiliate WDIV reported that Lapeer Community Schools superintendent Matt Wandrie said that the doomsday “rumors” are adding to fears about gun violence resulting from last week’s massacre in Newtown, Conn. “Given the recent events in Connecticut, there have been numerous rumors circulating in our district, and in neighboring districts,

This a perfect example of the state of public education and educators. There are many fine teachers and administrators, but I think they are in the minority. The politically correct educators out number them.

We live in the west side of Michigan and my son is in High School. He said some of the kids are skipping tomorrow and their parents are taking off work because of this Mayan stuff. Really?

As I told my wife last night, I am not worried about the end of the world.

But I am worried about those who might be worried about the end of the world and what they may do.

This bandwagon hysteria by the gullible further explains how Obama got re-elected.
Too many gullible, ignorant and stupids abound.

It´s time for people to grow up and reinstate the proper education for children and send the liberal/marxist/socialist packing out of this country.

Remember when the iconic image of an American was John Wayne?

Non-deportation rate
drops — to 99.2 percent

The Homeland Security Department has granted legal status to 99.2 percent of all illegal immigrants who have applied under President Obama’s new non-deportation policy for young adults, according to the latest numbers released Friday. That’s a slight drop from the 99.5 percent approval rate reported last month. The policy, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, grants legal status to most illegal immigrants under the age of 31 who came to the U.S. before age 16 — usually brought by their parents. They are allowed to remain in the U.S. without fear of deportation, and are given work permits.

President Obama on Sunday summoned the graduates of historically black Morehouse College to “transform the way we think about manhood,” urging the young men to avoid the temptation to make excuses and to take responsibility for their families and their communities. Delivering a commencement address at the all-male private liberal arts college in Atlanta, Obama spoke in deeply personal terms about the “special obligation” he feels as a black man to help those left behind. “There but for the grace of God, I might be in their shoes,” Obama said. “I might have been in prison.

Washington - Veteran journalist Bob Woodward accused Obama administration officials of invoking the worst instincts of former President Richard Nixon in their response to last year’s deadly attack on two U.S. compounds in Benghazi, Libya. “This is not Watergate, but there are some people in the administration who have acted as if they want to be Nixonian, and that’s a very big problem,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” The longtime Washington Post journalist, whose reporting on the Watergate burglary led to the resignation of Mr. Nixon in 1974, questioned the Obama

White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer made the Sunday show rounds this week, including a stop at Fox News Sunday, where Chris Wallace pressed him on the administration’s handling of and response to the Benghazi attack. Wallace persisted on the topic of the emails about the talking points in particular — but the two couldn’t manage to agree. Wallace began by questioning Pfeiffer about what President Obama did the night of the attack and whether he was in the situation room — but Pfeiffer said Obama was kept updated, and didn’t provide specifics, contending that which room

"Partisan fishing expeditions" - like the amplifying clamor around news that the Internal Revenue Service targeted for excessive review conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status - White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday on "Face the Nation," won´t "distract" President Obama from doing his job. Pfieffer did admit, however, the the IRS´ conduct was wrong and should be fixed. "It´s inexcusable conduct that needs to be fixed," Pfeiffer said. "It was an incredible breach of the public´s trust, and we have to repair that breach; no question about that." But "this is a Republican

CNN Poll: Obama approval

Even as his administration has faced intense scrutiny over a trio of controversies, President Obama’s approval rating hasn’t suffered, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released Sunday. Fifty-three percent of Americans said they approve of the job the president is doing, while 45 percent said they disapprove. That’s virtually unchanged from an early April survey in which Obama’s approval/disapproval split was 51 percent to 47 percent. The poll is one of the earliest indicators of how Obama’s image has been affected during one of the worst weeks of his presidency.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. He said he didn´t reveal conclusions of the probe, which was in its early stages, and his disclosure came as part

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.
