LOL!! The ´ditto´ picture reminded me of some decorations I saw a few years back around here. Twelve houses in a small subdivision were each decorated as one of the ´twelve days of Christmas´. They were very nicely done and fun to look at but at the end of the street was one more house with no decorations - just a sign in the yard that said ´Scrooge´.

Thank you for posting these. ´Hunting´ Christmas lights is one of my favorite family traditions.

There used to be a neighborhood in Phoenix where the whole street went over the top, except for one house who just put ´Oy Vey´ in huge lights on his roof. LOL

I am one of the few "vintage holdouts". I pass on the white icicles lights, twinkle lights, or those dim, slightly depressing inflatable decorations.

To me, it´s all about bursting color. I use ONLY c-9 OPAQUE bulbs, mixed in with oddball colors, and vintage ones as well. These are no longer sold in most stores, although you can still get some of the replacement bulbs. Fortunately, online you can find them all, and there is STILL one place that makes blow-molded Santas and Nativity scenes, bright and colorful.

Call me old fashioned, but that is the Christmas look for me.

There is a farm near me which is completely covered in lights each Christmas - all of the fences and out buildings, the trees and shrubs and the main house. We jokingly call it the Bah Humbug house. It´s beautiful at night and people come from all over the county to see it.

Along with lights on the palm trees and bushes, there is a Nativity set in our front yard that DH´s parents started using in 1957. They bought the original pieces, then when we started using it in 1977, we added the wise men, a shepherd and some sheep. Some of the faces have been faded by the Florida sun but it still looks pretty good to be so old. Neighbors always look forward to seeing it.
