Will Benghazi Haunt Hillary in 2016?
Commentary Magazine, by Jonathan S. Tobin

Original Article

The three State Department officials who resigned today in the wake of the release of a scathing report on the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya will probably be the only ones held accountable for that disaster. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is conveniently laid up due to a concussion and won’t testify before a congressional committee on the issue, just as she avoided being called to account in the aftermath of the murders even though she issued a statement saying she took “full responsibility” for what happened.

Comments:
I cannot imagine a 70-ish Clinton running in 2016. But I couldn´t imagine the nation would give Barack Obama two terms, either.

Liberals are very forgiving people when it comes to their own kind. This report hinted around at the poor leadership on Benghazi without mentioning Hillary by name. there´s other people in the 2016 mix that would lov eto sabotage Hillary and the main culprit is MO.

There´s million of Clinton worshipers that believe this concussion story 100%. If it was a republican ducking out on testifying, you´d see a parade of doctors saying a concussion shouldn´t keep her from testifying.

The Libs have no long term memory. Sort of a political Alzheimers so to speak. My guess is HRC will say something like, "you´ll have to as BHO about that. 20

No. It will disappear down the memory hole of the media ASAP as does anything with a D after it´s name.

No. If the idiot voters can send obama back to complete his job of destroying America this "bump in the road" will mean nothing.

Benghazi will only haunt her if the MSM does its job. Oh wait! No it won´t.

The low information voters that flock to the Dem party don´t know Ben Gazy and don´t care. If they are told to vote Hillary to get their freebies that is what they will do.

Currently America has reached the tipping point, and now the Democrats can place anyone in any office whether qualified or not. Obama being the prime example. If they desire the drunk Hillary as POTUS, it´s a done deal. The nation is screwed. It will take decades, if ever, to overcome this insanity and bring America back. If something doesn´t happen soon and quickly, America will never be the same.

Actually, I think so.

I think the Obama regime has neutralized the Clinton´s while keeping them involved enough too.
And Biden seems to want to be "Obama´s third-term" in similar way as Bush 41.

Bill was used in this election to help, but I suspect that´s the extent of him being needed anymore by this regime.

Are you kidding me. This will not even touch the PIAPS when she runs in 16. Notice I said when. This power hungry harridan knows that Benghazigate will not be a problem because the same brain dead voters who gave Obumbler 4 more years have no long term memories. I guess it´s the radio waves from those Obamaphones doing damage to their tiny little brains. Anyway the presstitutes will also give ole Hillarious a pass just like they did Odingleberry. Now if God forbid the First Wookie runs it could be a whole new ball game.

Hillary is a coward. The Republicans should develop a mantra and use it - if Hillary is too cowardly too testify, she is too cowardly to be president. The last thing the US needs in a president is a coward. Eight years of zippy should make that patently obvious.

The MSM will "let this pass" and then work full time in erasing the "incident" in the general masses minds - aren´t the tarnished memories of Teddy, Buba, Gore merely just faded bookb marks of the past! (Remember there was only one person killed and Teddy´s laptop "journalist friends" smoothed that over with a little bit of time).

The IRS scandal was always about politics. In the very month that ObamaCare passed, March 2010, the groups of Americans that were organizing to fight against ObamaCare were targeted by the agency that will implement ObamaCare. That’s the essence of the scandal. But it is not the full extent of it. IRS workers union chief Colleen Kelley had access to President Obama and, according to White House logs, met with him on March 31, 2010. The abuse of Tea Party, conservative, Hispanic, pro-life, Christian, and Jewish groups, which must have been in the works for weeks or even months prior,

See for yourself. Issa’s committee was told last year that the report would be ready in September, two months before the election. Eight months later, the bomb finally dropped. Why? Did the IG initially underestimate the volume of malfeasance and how long it would take to dig it up? Or are there other, more cynical reasons? Even if the report wasn’t ready, Issa claims the IG had a statutory obligation to keep Congress updated on its findings as they were made. He didn’t. Why not? Issa is referring to part of the Inspector General Act

Revelations concerning Benghazi, the IRS, and government probing of the Associated Press make it increasingly clear that Barack Obama was led astray by his friends in the media. They intended no harm to the president, needless to say. But by withholding the criticism that prods public officials into doing a better job, by choosing not to print negative stories and commentaries about the Obama administration, the press corps tempted the president and his staff with visions of invincibility. The pro-Obama news crew—with a boost from the Nobel Peace Prize committee—confirmed the president’s exalted view of himself.

They are getting the band back together. In the well-burnished legend of its founding, the Tea Party movement sprang to life at grass-roots rallies, a spontaneous protest against government overreaching that grew and grew until it stunned Democrats and many moderate Republicans in the 2010 midterm elections. On Tuesday, rallies across the country to protest the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of Tea Party groups seeking tax-exempt status recalled those glory days, drawing colorful crowds in three-cornered hats, with members singing patriotic songs and waving provocative signs like “Fire the Liars”

U.S. Navy Lt. Mike McGrath was just 27 years old, with a wife and two toddler sons in the U.S., when he was shot down and taken prisoner on his 179th bombing mission during the Vietnam War. McGrath spent almost six years in North Vietnamese prisons, enduring torture and beatings before he was released in the spring of 1973 with nearly 600 men whose plight united a nation otherwise bitterly divided by the drawn-out war. On Thursday, McGrath and 200 of those men, almost all of them former pilots, will reunite for a three-day celebration

There’s a huge red flag in the Benghazi mess, but conservatives are letting the media get away with using a red herring to avoid it. Give the establishment media credit for obstinacy: Once it settles on a standard narrative or explanation for a particular subject, it shows remarkable discipline in explaining away any evidence that contradicts its own approved spin. So it has been with the media’s 250-day old determination to downplay the scandalous nature of the Obama administration’s treatment of its outpost in Benghazi before, during, and after the terrorist attack there that took four American lives.

Lawmakers across the country are tussling over the Obama administration´s plans to create a small army of assistants to guide millions of Americans as they sign up for new health-insurance options available this fall. Backers of the health-care overhaul face an uphill battle to spread the word about the law, in the face of consumer research that suggests most uninsured people know little about it and are skeptical about the value of health insurance generally. Some Democrats have openly worried that the administration is doing too little to make sure the enrollment process goes smoothly. That is where the "patient navigators"

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble. There is a very clear thread running through all of the administration’s actions: The U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya, Gregory Hicks, says that he was told not to speak to a member of Congress about Benghazi without a State Department lawyer present, that he received a phone call from Hillary Clinton’s
