| ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Interior Department´s plan for managing a vast petroleum reserve on Alaska´s North Slope calls for a roughly 50-50 split between conservation and oil development plus accommodation for a pipeline that could carry offshore Arctic Ocean oil to the trans-Alaska pipeline. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on Wednesday announced that the plan will allow for development of nearly 12 million acres within the 23 million-acre National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, an area roughly the size of Indiana.

I´m guessing they did a careful examination of the areas in the area that are most likely to contain significant amounts of petroleum...and excluded them from drilling.

They eventually brought down President Nixon, forcing him to resign. Mr. Obama is the liberal Nixon — a corrupt chief executive, who is presiding over a lawless administration. Like Tricky Dick, the Obama administration has an “enemies list.” The Internal Revenue Service has admitted that its agents deliberately targeted conservative, Tea Party, evangelical and pro-Israel Jewish groups, denying or blocking their requests for tax-exempt status.

BOSTON —U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is calling on Congress to stop student loan interest rates from doubling this summer.The Massachusetts Democrat introduced a bill Tuesday which would let students pay the same interest rate on their government loans as banks. Student loan interest rates are set to jump from 3.4 to 6.8 percent in July. Warren said banks can borrow from the Federal Reserve at an interest rate of less than 1 percent.

The protesters at the Worcester funeral home are right: Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s body doesn’t belong there. He should be buried among his own people, back in the land he called home and among the people whose values he shared. That’s why I say, “Send him back to Cambridge!” (Snip) Sorry, my talk radio friends, but when I hear that a terrorist is taking a dirt nap, I don’t protest, I celebrate. I have no interest in the juvenile “wrap him in bacon and drop him in a shark tank” posturing. Let’s leave the desecration of corpses to the Islamist barbarians.

When the bombs exploded three weeks ago today, I was three miles from the finish line, running toward it. The GoPro video camera I was wearing captured the chaos as we became aware of what had happened — frantic runners scrambling for cellphones to find out whether loved ones were dead or alive, some police officers yelling that “the marathon is canceled” and others telling the throng to just to keep running. I thought that camera was gone, lost in the confusion. But just a few days ago, it arrived in the mail

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes.
