FTA: "You didn´t build that"—wasn´t just an inartful turn of phrase. It implied he is blind to the moral difference between what is earned and what is unearned.
He has never earned anything in his life. He lived with his bank vice president grandmother and got into an exclusive private school on scholarship, so granny didn´t pay the full ride.
We don´t know if he used "foreign aid" or "Affirmative Action" to get into college, but from observing his speech and actions, he must have gotten at least some AA help with his grades...but we aren´t allowed to know anything about his history.
He has never said a single word that indicates even a passing knowledge the hard work of earning anything...even an allowance from granny.

I took the author to say we are happier if we earn our money and things. I´m not sure I totally believe him. Most of us have worked hard, and earned what we have. If someone were to give us a few million, and we knew we could secure mom and dad´s future, we could be comfortable in our old age, our kids could get educated, and we could support a few charities, we would probably still be happy. Maybe we didn´t "earn" that few million, but we know what it is to earn our way.

The happiness of entitlement takers does not even remotely fit into Obama´s or the liberals´ equation. What drives the equation is greed, prestige, and power. They want money for themselves. They want people to want to hear what they have to say. They want to be able to tell people what to do whether they like it or not. Happiness? Libs, and Obama particularly, don´t care about happiness (except for themselves.)

Agree with #2 How you put new found wealth to use will matter for a lot.There have been lottery winners who squandered considerable sums of money and filed for bankruptcy within a few years of getting the money.Others have put the money to good use and probably derived much satisfaction from their efforts.The difference between the two types is character and that counts.

I think the Obamas themselves are dissatisfied.. Look at the bitterness just below the surface during the campaign. You didn´t earn that. (They didn´t either.)

If you couldn´t handle money before winning the lottery, you won´t be able to afterwards.
Why there are never stories about those those won the lottery, lived very well and helped good causes ? We had one in this area.
Any figures on just how many dollars richer the gov is from so many big winners in the past ten years ?

A story in the Washington Post yesterday about the Internal Revenue Service’s Cincinnati office, which does most of the agency’s nonprofit auditing, clearly contradicted earlier reports that the agency’s targeting of Tea Party groups was the result of rogue agents. The Post story anonymously quoted a staffer in Cincinnati as saying they only operate on directives from headquarters: As could be expected, the folks in the determinations unit on Main Street have had trouble concentrating this week. Number crunchers, whose work is nonpolitical, don’t necessarily enjoy the spotlight, especially when the media and the public assume they’re engaged in partisan villainy.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
