income beats U.S. average

| Personal income grew faster in Texas than the national average during the third quarter, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Wednesday. The state´s total personal income grew 0.8 percent from the second to the third quarter compared to 0.5 percent nationally. Personal income is the sum of all income sources including wages, property and transfer payments such as Social Security, food stamps and unemployment benefits. Texas´ income growth rate was seventh in the nation during the third quarter, according to the bureau. North Dakota´s was highest at 1.4 percent, while neighboring South Dakota´s dropped by 1.6 percent,

And that is with natural gas prices in the cellar. If those were higher, small producers would be doing very well.

One of the reasons that natural gas prices are in the cellar is that it is co-produced with oil from tight oil formations. Tight oil formations have allowed TX to double its oil production from 1 million to 2 million barrels per day. They´ve pretty much quit drilling for dry natural gas, but will take it when it comes with the oil.

Social Security, food stamps and unemployment benefits, don´t do much toward a rise in personal income. But hard work and low taxes can lead to that rise. If I wasn´t so old, it would be "Texas, here I come"!

My "pay raise" will be gone once SSI with holdings go back to normal. Once all the other Obama surprises kick in, I´ll be back to balancing mortgage payments with groceries.

Europe´s largest economy Germany, which has been criticized for not doing enough to help struggling euro zone countries, has topped a poll as the world´s most popular country. The survey carried out for the BBC, polled 26,000 people in 25 countries, and asked them to rate 16 countries and the European Union, as a whole, on whether their influence on the world was mainly positive or negative. Germany came out on top, with 59 percent of the survey´s participants awarding it a positive rating. The country moved up three percentage points from its 2012 position.

COLLEGE PARK, Md- In the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal and others, Washington and the media are obsessed with the question: What did the president know and when did he know it? That misses the point. Barack Obama´s presidency is much more damaging to the nation than the mistakes of subordinates now coming to light. Most recently, we learned Obama met with anti-Tea Party IRS Union President Colleen Kelley just before the tax agency began targeting conservative groups. Is that the smoking gun? Was the president in on the plan to harass opponents of big government?

LONDON- Two British men of Nigerian descent accused of hacking a soldier to death on a London street in revenge for wars in Muslim countries were known to security services, a source close to the investigation said Thursday. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide.There are a lot of numbers out there.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
