| As Britain drifts away from the EU, like a man quietly sidling towards the exit during an embarrassingly disastrous play, the US has begun to express concern.[Snip]The funniest aspect of this story is the thought that somewhere Barack Obama and senior State Department officials might actually be having a conversation about Nigel Farage, who I always thought of as one of those strictly not-for-export national figures, like Cliff Richard. Ed, you fail to realize that Obama makes decisions based on what is in Obama´s interest, not what is in American interest.

Ed´s point is that a divided Europe is more democratic than the EU. The link to the map of Palestinian recognition will make it clear we need all the allies we can get.

The writer assumes Europe has something to offer as a military ally. No way, Jose. As seen repeatedly, the Eu is a gaggle of impotent, socialist governments, fighting hard to maintain their welfare states. They have no useful military capability. And have absolutely no way to project their pathetic military beyond their own borders. Let them hang themselves. The U.S. is rapidly sinking to their level of capability. China might very well beat the U.S. and the EU like tied up dogs. Hope you like the change.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has delivered some harsh criticisms to President Barack Obama over recent controversies surrounding his administration in a speech. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
