| A federal D.C. district court ruled late Tuesday, just a few days after arguments, that not only can Wheaton College and Belmont Abbey stay in court, but what the Obama administration has said about fixing the religious-freedom problem they and other religiously affiliated non-profits have with the HHS abortion-drug, contraception, sterilization mandate must become real policy, and that the Department of Health and Human Services must report to the D.C. court every 60 days until they fix the problem. This is a huge step toward some restoration of religious liberty as we’ve known it.

Some good news finally. Of course these cases will wind their way to the Supreme Court. Will Roberts once again rule against freedom?

Slapdown my ascot! Obambi´s HHS has never and will never honor a court order. Obambi´s HHS is above the law and is certainly not going to take any lip from such a lowly oganization as a Federal Court. Business as ususl, full socialism ahead!

While a win for those who believe in the First Amendment, the callousness of Obama makes one realize that he used the HHS mandate at part of his War on Women lie. The mandate, like Sandra Fluke, was enough to convince single women that Mitt Romney would use his personal billions to buy & destroy every birth control device sold in the US while Bain Capital would shut down the companies that make condoms, pills and abortifacients while turning Planned Parenthood into brokerage offices. The lie worked.
The best thing about this court win is that it should prevent another Obama lie, that "ObamaCare will not pay for abortions."

Recommend for must read. Sebelius proposed this Contraception Mandate without any documented legal advice. It seems certain to fail Constitutional review. If we go over the cliff and folks react to 452 billion in new taxes in 2013 alone, this may be fodder for impeachment.

The court should threaten to send faux Catholic Kathleen Sebelius to prison for contempt of court on the 61st day if they plan on non-compliance with the judicial order.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it wants as many as 20 percent of its workers to "telework," use an "alternative work schedule," or do both, in order to "reduce green house gas emissions," decrease "employee stress," and give these government workers more time for "planning and preparing healthy meals." So says one of the HHS "performance measures" detailed in an appendix to the department´s latest strategic plan. HHS´s performance measure "4.D.05" says: "Increase the percent employees on telework or on Alternative Work Schedule." Telework means working from home via phone and computer.

Bloodletting, in the form of firings, dismissals, resignation, and expulsions, is a tribal rite in political Washington. It is most often used by the powerful on anyone less powerful as a symbolic sacrifice. Steven Miller, the now former acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, is the latest victim of ritual sacrifice. This week the Obama White House demanded his resignation to demonstrate the president’s “anger” at news that the IRS targeted conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status for added review and slow approval. Next, we’ll watch as Congress takes up the bloodletting knife.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men.
