Obamacare could drive Little Sisters
of the Poor out of the US

Daily Caller, by David Martosko

A religious order of nuns is concerned about its future presence in the United States because of Obamacare’s impact on its charitable operations. The Little Sisters of the Poor told The Daily Caller that it may not qualify for a long-term exemption from Obamacare’s healthcare mandate. The law requires the order to provide government-approved health insurance to its 300 sisters who tend to the elderly in 30 U.S. cities. The exception is needed, said Sister Constance Carolyn Veit, the Little Sisters’ communications director, because Catholic teaching opposes contraception and medical treatments that cause sterility or can cause abortions.

Consolidate the needy into one large group, remove all other means of assisting them, except the government, and you have a class of slaves. How ironic that obama would be the one executing this action.

At last. An order of nuns who respect and follow the Church´s teachings.

Obviously, this order isn´t like the nun who sold her soul to Obamacare (head of the Catholic Health Assn.).

Mother Teresa´s order is the Missionaries of Charity (MC). This order is Little Sisters of the Poor, which was established in France in the aftermath of the French Revolution.

One nun noted their order had survived in the US for 151 years, through the Civil War, the Great Depression, epidemics, floods, and social upheaval but now may have to curtail its mission.

“What war and disease could not do to the congregation, the government of the United States will do. It will shut us down."

#6, Mother Teresa´s are the Missionaries of Charity I believe, another group that will be affected by this. There are far too few nuns left in this world, especially in America. It will be a great shame to lose them, not all nuns are liberal crazies... I hope they stand their ground.

Havn´t heard anything from the Nuns in the area where I live. They are an extension of a nationally known college and have their own nursing home/hospital for retired nuns, yet they continually bashed former Pres. Bush in letters to the editors, some were arrested for tresspassing and they support Obama.

´X-Men´ director accused of

A new lawsuit alleges that “X-Men” director Bryan Singer sexually abused an underage boy at a lurid California sex party. The bombshell suit claims the director of blockbuster hits like “Superman Returns” used his position in Hollywood to exploit young men by taking part in a sex ring. The lawsuit, filed by attorney Jeff Herman, charges that Singer attended parties at a mansion in Encino, California where adult males did drugs and had sex with teenage boys. The teen mentioned in the suit never consented to sexual relations with Singer and often persisted, it states, according to a press release from Herman’s

An 89-year-old Navajo woman wants the land she´s lived on all her life to be left to her family once she dies. But here´s the catch; she lives inside a national park, and age-old conflicts between the family and the National Parks Service may prevent that from happening. Stella Peshlakai Smith, who barely speaks any English, was born in what is now the Wupatki National Monument north of Flagstaff in 1924, a month before the land became part of a national park. Her daughter, Helen Peshlakai Davis, says it´s home to her. "There´s no other place that I want to call

The TCM (Turner Classic Movies) cable channel celebrated its twentieth anniversary yesterday. It did so in grand style, rebroadcasting movies from its first day on the air (Gone With the Wind and It Happened One Night). After GWTW, TCM broadcast an interesting interview with host-for-life Robert Osborne conducted by Alec Baldwin. I have been a high volume consumer of TCF roughly since day one. I am a little vague on Ted Turner’s acquisition of the rights to just about every worthwhile movie ever made, but with TCM, he is putting them to good — even ingenious — use. The films

Authorities said Monday that a pair of sex offenders suspected of raping and murdering at least four women probably wore their court-ordered GPS devices during the crimes. Franc Cano, 27, and Steven Dean Gordon, 45, had been required to wear the devices after serving time in prison for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14. Police on Monday also said that they are now “confident” that there is a fifth victim -- and perhaps more -- in a string of slayings that has been tied to a pair of registered sex offenders. The men were formally Monday charged

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.

Three pictures in the

The most decadent Beltway publication yet conceived, Washingtonian, has outdone itself with its latest celebration of what life is like inside the city fueled by your forcibly confiscated money. The publication recently ran with a profile of White House Press Sec. Jay Carney‘s wife, ABC News personality and working mom Claire Shipman. Carney’s two beautiful children are also profiled in the piece, but the profile itself is largely irrelevant. What is worthy of dissection are the three featured images that add value to the profile. And by “value,” we mean guffaws galore.

Deaths at Phoenix VA hospital

The chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs said Wednesday that dozens of VA hospital patients in Phoenix may have died while awaiting medical care. Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., said staff investigators also have evidence that the Phoenix VA Health Care System keeps two sets of records to conceal prolonged waits that patients must endure for doctor appointments and treatment. "It appears as though there could be as many as 40 veterans whose deaths could be related to delays in care," Miller announced to a stunned audience during a committee hearing Wednesday. Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No
