Senator-to-Be Tim Scott: ‘Our
Second Amendment Right is a
Fundamental Freedom’

Rep. Tim Scott (R.), whom South Carolina Gov. Nikke Haley has said she will appoint to replace retiring Sen. Jim DeMint in the U.S. Senate, has been an opponent of Obamacare´s sterilization-contraception-abortifacient mandate, and a defender of traditional marriage, the right to life, and the Second Amendment. “The Constitution grants all law-abiding Americans the right to bear arms, regardless of what some would lead you to believe,”

Does he promote guns for 2 year olds? If not, then he should be okay with restrictions on those people who have no business handling guns - including those with serious mental illness with bouts of psychosis.

You go, Tim! We need you!

We heard two men on the elevator today chortling over the fact that the NRA took down its Facebook website. It is as if the NRA killed those little kids in the ´minds´ of liberals but the murder of thousands of babies every year by the scalpel means nothing to them.
This is what we are dealing with.

Rep. Scott needs to get this right if he´s going to be among those idiots in the Senate. The Constitution does not "grant" the right to bear arms. That right existed long before the Constitution. The Bill of Rights affirms and enshrines pre-existing rights, among which is the right of free men to bear arms. I´m tired of everyone getting this wrong, including people who take an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.

Reply 5 - Posted by: strike3, 12/18/2012 6:05:19 PM     (No. 9073309)

The Constitution doesn´t even say that a person has to be law-abiding to own a weapon. The courts have been known to deny firearms rights for very minor infractions, or no infraction at all. For the liberal crowd, any excuse will do. Firearms should only be denied if a crime is committed using a firearm. Yeah, I know that´s after the barn door is open but the alternative is much worse. Self-protection is a God-given right. Any man who voluntarily gives up his weapon deserves what comes next.

You beat me to it #4 as I was recovering my password. (I do not think I have posted since the 2004 elections).

I never miss a chance to correct anyone who is under the delusion that the Constitution grants anything. I never had to write a Senator before on the matter....

Another one that really bugs me is when someone thinks the government has rights. The government has powers, not rights. It is the right to bear arms. Not the power to bear arms. It is *our* right.

Back to sleep for another 9 years

#2, so you agree that the real root of the problem is the ACLU? After all they forced society to unleash these sick people. It was the barriers they set up that delayed committing the maniac who was burning himself. The mother was in over her head fighting the system, but she paid for her mistakes AND the system with her life.

Most of the people commenting about new gun laws have NO idea what is required to follow the many thousands of laws already out there. This monster violated many, many laws after he murdered his mother. Make new restrictions that criminals and maniacs will ignore, if it makes you feel better about making it harder for people in dangerous situations to get a gun for self defense. It sure would be nice if someone stepped up and pointed out that if you tell someone you have a gun free zone, you also have the means to enforce that with more than a sign or a lock.

#4, yahoo!, bravo!, *clap-clap-clap*, yesserie, and let´s hope Senator Scott knows the difference and will stand tall for our Constitution. There is always hope, unless McPain or Miss Lindsy twist his ear.

Rabbit troll alert. No he does not advocate gun rights for the mentally insane or 2 year old. How idiotic. But since you and your ilk are going to start the attacks, lets hear the dumb memes. Ready:

he´s against women´s health rights
he is not black enough
he wants to pollute the water
he is for big oil
he´s against healthcare

That the marxists democrat party has convinced 50% of the nation with these lies is a testament of how dumb the people have become.

I hope he is a fighter like Allen West and Rubio.

Tim Scott hit the ground running this week--an e-mail from his office yesterday requests $10 (or more) donations to feed the momentum.

See Scott´s Issues page and click on his full statement re the 2nd Amendment.

http://timscott.house.gov/issues

Notice that right under 2nd Amendment is "American Values." Ten bucks to Tim would be a nice little Christmas gift to yourself. (Fifty gets you a signed, special edition bumper sticker!)

At least nine cars were torched and two schools and a police station were set ablaze as riots swept through Stockholm´s immigrant-dominated suburbs early Friday for the fifth straight night, police and firefighters said. The riots, which have shattered Sweden´s image abroad as a peaceful and egalitarian nation, have sparked a debate about the assimilation of immigrants, who make up about 15 percent of the population. Many of the immigrants who have arrived due to the country´s generous refugee policy struggle to learn the language and find employment, despite numerous government programmes.

The plane, flight number PK709, took off from Lahore with 297 people aboard and had been due to land at Manchester airport at 2pm. However, the Guardian understands that the pilot, concerned about a disruptive passenger who had started shouting, asked to divert to Stansted, London´s third airport, as a precaution. The pilot was then satisfied the incident had been resolved. However, the passenger is likely to be escorted off the plane at Stansted.

Giving a speech on counter-terrorism policy at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., today, President Barack Obama explained that when deciding whether to target terrorists with drones—whether or not the terrorists are U.S. citizens—he has set a “high threshold” of respect for human life. “But the high threshold that we have set for taking lethal action applies to all potential terrorist targets, regardless of whether or not they are American citizens,” Obama said. “This threshold respects the inherent dignity of every human life.”

After a British soldier wearing a Help for Heroes charity T-shirt was run over, stabbed and slashed with machetes and a meat cleaver, and beheaded, the Tory government advised its soldiers that it is probably best not to appear in uniform on the streets of their capital. Both murderers were wounded by police. One was photographed and recorded. His message: "There are many, many (verses) throughout the Quran that says we must fight them as they fight us. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
