"No set of laws can eliminate evil from the world, or prevent every senseless act of violence in our society. So said President Obama in words of comfort in Newtown. The president was right to speak of evil, but mistaken when he called the massacre "senseless." For this was a premeditated and purposeful act of mass murder, and the devil that did it knew exactly what he was doing and why.(Snip) Before he went into that school to shoot 20, 30 or 40 children, barely more than babies, he knew his slaughter would be so stomach-turning and heart-wrenching that Snip added by staff.

Comments: It is all about ratings because ratings=money. If we truly lived in an intelligent society, like we would like to think, the names and faces of these monsters would never be seen or known. He should have been labeled the "Coward Child Killer from Newtown" and never have his picture published. Just look at Jared Loughner´s mugshot if you don´t believe me. The monster looks like he just won the lottery.

Pat usually manages to say something useful before he spins off into the weeds, but not so much here.

This is pretty good by Pat.
All these losers crave the flame-out with mass media publicity.
He may be mistaken that it´s any more common. Jon Fund´s article yesterday gave the data on past slaughters. It´s gone on a long time.
Remember Lizzie Borden? Fewer victims, but a slaughter unexplained to this day, if I recall accurately.
I think the Bible mentions that Cain slew Abel. But I could be wrong. Apparently part of the human animal condition is to kill one another.
Which may be why it was mentioned in the Thou Shalt Not´s of the Ten Commandments. The Commandments are a list of human failings. Not much will change on Planet Earth. (Unless maybe the "Mayans were right.")

I usually pay little attention to Mr Buchanan; however his premise, if true, sends chills up my spine. Will future sensation seekers try to outdo this evil?

Pat echoes my comment to wife several days ago. This brain dead kid wanted to be famous. By killing first graders and an all female staff, he had a better chance of not being taken down.
Gun laws will do nothing to prevent these atrocities. Forced commitment is needed for dangerous people.

Another stupid rant by Buchanan. The young man was psychotic. His mother was trying to get him committed to a mental hospital. He was an adult; the law makes this process difficult unless he shows unambiguous signs of being an "imminent" risk. The only way a judge can know if the risk is "imminent" is for a crime to be committed. So in spite of mom´s efforts, he was still at large - and killed 26 people.
This has nothing to do with wanting to be famous or dead souls or any such stuff. Serious mental illness, untreated, and the law blocking efforts to get treatment. Put the blame where it is due...tell legislators to change these laws.

Imagine U.S. Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana attacking fellow Democrats Diane Feinstein, Chuck Schumer and Richard Blumenthal over their unconstitutional gun control proposals. Further, envision Manchin granting an interview with conspiratorial radio talk show host Alex Jones, during which the senator calls Feinstein, Schumer and Blumenthal “wacko birds.” Picture the harrumphing that would emanate from the elite media…

I think I have the Progressive/Socialist/Communist movement figured out, and the answer is God. Surprised? Read on. Humans have an instinctive desire to believe in something bigger than themselves—something all-knowing, all-seeing, all-powerful, that can make everything right when nothing seems to go right. Ask any anthropologist or archaeologist, and he or she will tell you that pretty much every culture in the history or humankind has had a set of beliefs regarding a god or gods.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. But when it came to their own accomplishments and sense of purpose, they had no time for excuses. Every one of you has a grandma or an uncle or a parent whose told you at some point in life

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) concerning the Internal Revenue Service scandal Sunday (video follows with transcript and commentary):CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: Moving on to the IRS problem at this moment, which is really sort of in its infancy. There will be lots more hearings coming up this week

WASHINGTON – White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday Republicans owe Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an apology for alleging she played a part in formulating the White House’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, last year that killed four Americans. Pfeiffer said on ABC’s “This Week” that the release of more than 100 pages of Benghazi emails and notes show “beyond a shadow of the doubt” that accusations she tried to change the narrative of what happened in the attacks was false. "And, frankly, I think that many of the Republicans
