WASHINGTON- The White House says President Barack Obama is "actively supportive" of efforts on Capitol Hill to reinstate an assault weapons ban. Obama has long backed the ban, but has failed to push for it throughout his first term. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., plans to introduce legislation to reinstate the ban early next year. White House spokesman Jay Carney says Obama would also support legislation to close the gun show "loophole," which allows people to buy guns from private dealers without background checks. The president has pledged to address gun violence in the coming weeks following Friday´s deadly shooting

Let me guess, ´´assualt weapon´´ is anything this side of a BB gun...

This country truly died on 11-6-2012. Now we just wait for the inevitable implossion of the rotting corpse...

Connecticut has an "assault weapon ban" in place already. The Bushmaster model Lanza used was not legally classed as an "assault weapon".

Why not just revoke the entire Bill of Rights and get it over with?

Make no mistake; Obama and his minions are out to destroy our way of life! These anti-American haters are now in charge thanks to a feckless and irresponsible voting block comprised of special interest groups and illegal aliens! Silent Majority/conservatives, this is no time to back down or remain silent!

Let no crisis go to waste. We have some very bad people in charge of America. They want to take away all our rights along with our earnings. Appears that a "black" man wants to enslave the population.

This very assault weapons ban was in effect at the time of Colombine.

But, I thought Obambi loved assault weapons. In fact, he loves them so much he ran them across the border to his drug buddies in Mexico.

They want to ban weapons that look like assault weapons.
Assault weapons are already illegal.
This is like unto banning brown cars.
These communists are fully in the face of the rights of man and the rights of US citizens.
We are fools to believe them, as a nation, and we deserve the govt we elect. .....these rich bastards, lawyers most of them, who do not care one whit about us, the taxpayers.
Tell them "No."

The ignorance of guns is astounding in the media. No news there, but even Fox personnel are equating "assault rifle" and "semi-automatic" either through ignorance or complicity.

Last night O´Reilly repeatedly referred to an "AK 16" until corrected, and gave a grossly inaccurate description of Canada´s gun laws. Canada, by the way, recently trashed the progressive-utopian long-gun registry after it cost taxpayers $2Billion
and never solved one crime or saved one life. That´s a lot of money when you consider the population of Canada is 10% of America.

Of course, because the first ´assault weapons´ ban worked so well!

Not one crime was prevented or solved by that stupid, ´feel-good´, law.

The fault lies with the lunatic who took a series of conscious decisions leading to many murders. Period. Anyone who tries to take the matter beyond that has his eye on another agenda, on other goals, and is dangerous in his own way, the more so by his hiding his moves.

"War is the remedy our enemies have chosen, and I say give them all they want."

General Sherman was right.

You have to see just what firearms the liberal Democrats will define as an "assault weapon".

From what little Senator Feinstein has already said, it looks like they intend to define an "assault weapon" as being any semi-automatic handgun or rifle that could possibly hold a clip or magazine holding more then 10 rounds of ammunition.

Such a overreaching definition would essentially ban just about all modern semi-automatic handguns and rifles now being sold in the USA, essentially disarming the law abiding population of the USA based upon the criminal actions of several homicidal maniacs.

No doubt the liberal Democrats and their allied anti-gun groups will go for the whole enchilada and ban as many firearms as possible, if they can quickly get a bill moving through the Congress before emotions subside.

With the House of Representatives in Republican hands the liberal Democrats may have a problem passing such a broad gun control bill. The last time the liberal Democrats pushed a gun control bill through they lose big-time in the following election.

If you really believe that the Democrats´ decades-long gun ban/confiscation efforts are about "safety," you may want to remove yourself from the debate.

And stay out of the way. It could get messy.

All the dems & their PC lsm are talking about now is this pointless ban, video games and movies, yet nothing is mentioned about arguably the MOST influential messaging venue to all youths, which is music! The hateful, brutal & vile words & ideas conveyed in the music 0bama apparently favors, along with the entertainers who choose to sing such messages to the youths, receives awards?!!! Why is that? Such music does leave an impression upon young people who listen to it continually, at least as much as & maybe more than games & movies, yet our, ´role model,´ President honors those rude & crude, ´entertainers,´ and their brutal songs, ...even a singer who has used his lyrics to attack the USA! ...And he was an honored guest performer at a Christmas program which 0bama attended recently! What a message!!!

Music influences people and so it too can be used in horrible irresponsible ways which the President of the USA, of all people, should not encourage by honoring it as does 0bama. Statist pols are political opportunists who always seem to attack the Second Amendment instead of addressing authentic needs, ...mental illness and the vile pop culture of brutality which they encourage.

WASHINGTON— US President Barack Obama set out Thursday to redefine the US fight against global terrorism. But despite calling for a more targeted and not "boundless" theater of global operations, Obama left the specifics and timelines for action, by which his success or failure can be measured, out of his big speech. Here are some critical questions Obama did not raise or answer in the address at the National Defense University. Schools and police stations were burning in Stockholm as violent riots continued for a fifth consecutive night. Emergency services were called to 70 separate incidents, including two torched primary schools, burning shops and a destroyed library building also housing a local police unit. Despite police claiming that the situation is beginning to calm down, critics say the riots were unavoidable after years of widening social gaps in a country which has the highest proportion of foreign-born citizens in Scandinavia.

As Democrats and the media continue to hammer Virginia lieutenant governor hopeful E.W. Jackson for his past comments on social issues, the Christian minister says he is battling what he calls the “mainstream media’s caricature” of him. In an email sent to The Daily Caller this week, the running mate to Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli said “every one of those comments has a context and were spoken in my role as a minister, not as a candidate.” In particular, the black Republican took issue with the media’s outrage over his comments on abortion.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping
