| Before he set off on his heinous rampage, Connecticut school shooter Adam Lanza tried to cover his deadly tracks by smashing the hard drive of at least one of his cherished computers, according to investigators. The shattered drive was recovered during a search of the home of Nancy Lanza, the killer’s doting mom — and his first victim. Forensics experts were trying yesterday to piece the broken hard drive together, hoping it will help reveal clues about the horrific Sandy Hook Elementary School slaughter, which left 20 little kids and six educators dead.

How many other parents are harboring children who they know are crazier than a shat house rat and pose a danger to the surrounding community?

If the quotes in this article are true, Adam Lanza should have been placed in a very restrictive home for the mentally ill. His parents had the money to afford a good setting that would have better met his needs than a huge, empty house and just his mother.

#3, just where do you think he was supposed to be? Nothing in the article qualifies a person for in-person psychiatric treatment. A parent can´t force an adult child into treatment. Where do you think these places are that you would have put Adam? Caring parents look all over the country for facilities to care for their adult children; they are few and far between. Most have years-long waiting lists.

#1, just what are the parents supposed to do? Mental health professionals told me that I should let mine be homeless on the streets. What do you think of that advice? The article over the weekend - the mom said they recommended that he commit a crime so the criminal justice system could deal with her 13 yo son. Do you want to be the victim of that crime so the kid can get help?

Who decided to close all the mental institutions in this country, and why?
How´s that working out?

#6, the ACLU led the way. Here´s proof:

Ah, yes, #6 and #7 -- but few people know that. The libs continue to spout that Reagan closed all of the facilities (because he was a mean Republican, of course). So they continue to get a free pass for everything.

I didn´t want to comment until I had something new to add to the discussion. None of us really knows what was in the kid´s mind, but I know a family who has a son about the same age dealing with developmental problems. He knows he´s different from others, but he handles himself clumsily in social situations. He goes on talking jags, because so few people talk to him. He has been diagnosed with Asperger´s. His parents, who deal with him all of the time, feel that if he worked in a structured environment with a routine he would have more self confidence & be more "normal." The problem is, that even though there are programs & employers that will put these people to work - there is no way to force their participation. More emphasis needs to be put on keeping them BUSY & making productive citizens of them instead of handing them "crazy" checks & otherwise ignoring them.

The ACLU needs to be held accountable for contributing towards laws that limit or prevent institutionalization. I also hate to say that there is precedence against mental institutions and historical abuses.
There have been cases where people have been put in mental hospital for confinement or punishment by a relative wanting the person´s wealth or a husband wanting to get rid of the ´crazy´ wife. On the other side of the coin are willing administrators needing the money in the form of more patients to keep these facilities open considering the lack of gov and insurance money. Insurance companies don´t believe in schizophrenia which is probably why daddy kept throwing money at it hoping to make the problem go away.
It appears the mother had been dealing with a very sick son ´by her lonesome´ and didn´t know how to channel the 22K a month she was getting. She would have had to physically commit him with no backing from the authorities or touchy feely psychiatrists. Her drawing him into guns shows she was losing it herself. There are many more out there like Adam and Nancy.

A religious group spewing what the owners of One Liberty Place call hate speech against women, whites and gays can no longer demonstrate immediately outside the building´s entrance at 16th and Chestnut Streets, a judge ruled today. The owners of One Liberty Place in Center City Philadelphia filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge. The group is frequently seen perched on Center City street corners shouting at passersby through bullhorns. Liberty Place Retail Associates, which owns the building, has asked the state court to bar the group from gathering in front of the entrance

WASHINGTON — Schoolchildren from New Jersey shore communities battered by Superstorm Sandy will join Michelle Obama for a garden harvest next week. The White House says the first lady will also be joined Tuesday by students who helped plant the crops last month. The New Jersey students are from Union Beach Memorial School in Union Beach and Long Beach Island Grade School in Ship Bottom. Both schools were damaged in last October’s storm. Both also teach their students about healthy eating, which is one of the first lady’s causes. The students who helped plant lettuce, broccoli and various other crops

TRENTON — President Barack Obama will return to New Jersey on Tuesday to survey Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts with Gov. Chris Christie, according to a statement obtained by The Star-Ledger. The visit will mark Obama´s second trip to the shore since the storm hit about six months ago. “As residents and businesses prepare for a busy summer season, President Obama will visit the Jersey Shore with Governor Christie on Tuesday to view the ongoing recovery efforts after Hurricane Sandy devastated areas of the coastline last fall," the White House statement says.

Thursday morning on Chris Jansing´s MSNBC show, Politico Senior Reporter Lois Romano referred to Guantanamo Bay as a "really bad political tar baby" for President Obama: JANSING: Lois, let me start with Guantanamo Bay. Everybody knows [Obama] made this campaign pledge the first time he ran. Again to the question ´why now?´ -- was he pushed by the hundred prisoners who are on hunger strikes? ROMANO: I think it just came to another boiling point right now. [Obama] ran on this in 2008, and if you recall, when he came into office, there was a lot of turmoil

There have been a number of new revelations this week in the ever expanding scope of the IRS scandal. However, even with so many developments in the investigation of this egregious scandal, there was extremely limited coverage of the unfolding of this affair in the morning news of many more liberal stations like ABC, NBC, and CBS. In contrast, Fox News devoted almost 15 minutes in their programming on Thursday morning’s Fox & Friends show to enlighten the public of all of the new information in the scandal. The only other station to provide any coverage

In a long-awaited speech at the National Defense University, Barack Obama claimed that the nature of international terror attacks threatening the United States has changed since Sept. 11, 2001, with ´no large-scale attacks´ on America occurring since then. But his definition of ´large-scale attacks,´ his speech made clear, doesn´t include the 2013 Boston Marathon attack that wounded hundreds, the 2012 Benghazi terror attack that injured dozens and killed four, and the 2009 attack at Fort Hood that killed 13 and injured 30. All those attacks had the potential to leave far more American bodies in their wake than they actually did.

Another major political speech, another Code Pink heckling. During President Obama‘s counterterrorism policy speech at National Defense University on Thursday afternoon, Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin interrupted when the topic turned to the closing of the military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. “I’m about to address it, ma’am,” Obama said as Benjamin went off about the hunger strike currently taking hold amongst Gitmo detainees. “Why don’t you sit down? But you’ve got to let me speak.” “You are commander-in-chief! You can close Gitmo today!”

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state
