| NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel, one of the most prominent and accomplished international correspondents in the world, is reportedly missing in Syria. Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports that Engel, together with Turkish journalist Aziz Akyavas, were last known to be in Syria and haven´t been in contact with NBC News since Thursday morning. While the Turkish media have been circulating the report for several days, American outlets had been operating under a news blackout requested by NBC until today. On Wednesday, at two rallies bracketing the Capitol, Tea Party and conservative activists will again take center-stage on two issues dominating the national political dialogue. Reps. Steve King, Michele Bachmann and other members of the Tea Party Caucus will host a nearly day-long dialogue and discussion on immigration reform. On the other side of the Capitol, Tea Party grass roots organizations will hold a rally to "Audit the IRS," in response to the agency´s efforts to intimidate conservative organizations. A series of shootings this weekend has Chicagoans on edge. A total of 11 separate shootings since Friday night have resulted in seven deaths and at least 30 injuries in the Windy City. The victims range in age from 16-years old to 40-years-old, according to multiple media reports. Iran is preparing to send 4,000 troops in to Syria to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the wake of America´s announcement it will be providing ´military aid´ to the country´s Muslim rebels. President Barack Obama made the pledge earlier this week after the U.S. claimed it found ´conclusive evidence´ Assad´s regime has used chemical weapons against the rebel forces--which includes the most extreme Sunni Islamists--and has called for Britain and France to back the move.
