Even without Congress,
Obama could act to restrict guns

Washington - Unburdened by re-election worries and empowered by law to act without Congress, U.S. President Barack Obama could take action to improve background checks on gun buyers, ban certain gun imports and bolster oversight of dealers. (Snip) Having just won a second four-year term, Obama does not need to fear alienating voters who favor gun rights and he could press ahead without lawmakers on fronts where federal law enables executive action. Speaking in Newtown, where a gunman on Friday killed 20 children and six adults in an elementary school, Obama vowed late on Sunday

Comments:
This is chilling to read. If an Executive Order can be issued, what court can stop it? And, if it does, 0bama has shown that he will ignore it and Congress.

It´s simple, just ignore him and his EOs! They don´t have the force of law behind them and they are nowhere supported by the constitution only by tradition. This president only follows tradition when it suits him and he´s no better than I am.

The long overdue national Just Say No campaign should start right here. The GOP won´t act. We can. Just tell Obama to pound sand.

To hell with this POS who thinks he´s king. He´s ruler of the 47%. Not me!

"Obama does not need to fear alienating voters who favor gun rights"

That´s true enough -- none of them would have voted for him, anyhow.

I hope that President Obama will "lead from the front" on this issue and set an example for the rest of the country.

Imagine the moral impact that simply banning firearms among his Secret Service detail could have.

It may seem small thing to do, but the impression it would make here and on the rest of the world would be profound.

True enough. But the rest of the pond scum in house and senate most certainly do. And they do love their perks!

If restrictions are put in place for the sale of "assault weapons", does that mean the United States of America Federal Government won´t be able to sell them to Mexican drug dealers - or will they be exempt from the law like Congress is exempt from 0bamacare?

Reply 10 - Posted by: steveW, 12/18/2012 1:36:50 AM     (No. 9071975)

Obama must now lead by example. He could start by declaring the area around Himself - say, a 100 yard radius - to be a "gun-free zone". Within this zone, wherever He may roam, no one, not even the Secret Service, would be allowed to carry any manner of firearm, especially for the purpose of protecting and defending Dear Leader. Thus, by His compassionate example, would we know that He cares, sincerely and truly cares, for the lives of innocents. Not like those bitter clingers, clinging to their guns like deranged madmen.

I´m thinking that very many of us would back this "gun-free zone" proposal, with enthusiasm.

Barack Obama is Mexico´s biggest gun dealer.

Obama´s "Fast & Furious" has resulted in, what, over 300 murdered Mexican citizens?

All hail Wise King Barky!

When he isn´t complaining about gun ownership, he´s selling weapons to Mexican drug cartels!

This Brady foundation is one of the biggest left wing nag groups in the country who see a golden opportunity here. They didn´t even allow parents time to mourn before exploiting the tragedy.

Whether Obama doesn´t have to worry about relection doesn´t matter that much. He´s already reviled by half the country and all this would do is make people hate him more and possibly explode into another civil war.

If a president has the authority to impose his will on people without the consent or oversight of congress,we may as well dissolve congress and make the president the dictator.

For Obama to over rule a constitutional right, out of thin air means the Constitution is worthless also.Free speech is already on it´s way out along with the freedom of religion. What´s to stop Obama from declaring himself eligible for a 3rd term?

Roto-Rooter and the vast majority of citizens of the several States are Constitutionally illiterate. The President does not have law making authority, as noted above EO´s are not Constitutional, nor are Court decisions law. Take time to do a little studying friends, our enemies really do make it so very easy for us.
Keep the faith, we will survive this as a culture and as patriots. Won´t be pretty or fun, but we will survive.
Prayers and Best wish´s for Miss. Lucianne and all you fellow l-Dotters.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Washington - A key committee in the Republican-led House has taken up a tough enforcement-focused immigration bill, but the proceedings were immediately interrupted by protesters shouting "Shame, shame!" More than a dozen protesters began chanting as soon as Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia gaveled the committee hearing open Tuesday. Goodlatte stopped the proceedings until the protesters were ushered into the hall, where their shouts could still be heard. Goodlatte said the bill under consideration, which empowers local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration

It’s been two years since NASA’s space shuttle program came to an end, but thousands of Americans still dream of becoming astronauts. Eight of them – four men and four women – were introduced Monday as NASA’s astronaut candidate class for 2013. (Snip) The bios of the eight people selected will probably make you feel like a bit of a slacker. Two of them have PhDs and one is a physician training in sports medicine. Four have experience as test pilots for the Navy or Air Force. One person is working at the Pentagon on ways to defeat the homemade bombs that have plagued troops in Iraq and

Washington - After Republicans lost the presidential election and seats in both the House and the Senate last year, many in the party offered a stern admonishment: If we want to broaden our appeal, steer clear of divisive social and cultural issues. Yet after the high-profile murder trial of an abortion doctor in Philadelphia this spring, many Republicans in Washington and in state capitals across the country seem eager to reopen the emotional fight over a woman’s right to end a pregnancy. (Snip) The bill stands no chance of becoming law, with Democrats in control of the Senate and the White House.

Tehran - President-elect Hassan Rowhani of Iran, speaking Monday for the first time since his election victory, said he wanted to reduce tensions with the United States but ruled out direct talks between the two estranged nations. In his first news conference after winning Friday’s presidential election promising more freedoms and better relations with the outside world, Mr. Rowhani called the issue of nonexistent relations between Iran and the United States “an old wound, which must be healed.” Iran, he said, wants to reduce tensions between the two countries, which have no diplomatic relations and are

Washington - Pharmaceutical companies that pay rivals to keep less-expensive generic versions of best-selling drugs off the market can expect greater federal scrutiny after a Supreme Court ruling on Monday. In a 5-to-3 vote, the justices effectively said that the Federal Trade Commission can sue pharmaceutical companies for potential antitrust violations, a decision that is likely to increase the number of generic drugs in the marketplace and benefit consumers. Specifically, the justices threw out lower-court rulings that said the agreements were legal, provided that a deal did not keep a generic

Washington - Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who exposed the U.S. government´s top-secret surveillance programs, fought back against his critics on Monday and denied allegations that he was a spy for China. Snowden told an online forum run by Britain´s Guardian newspaper that he revealed the programs in part out of disappointment with President Barack Obama, who he said had expanded "abusive" government programs while in office. A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest.
