Obama Call For Change
Exploits School Massacre

By using the massacre in Newtown, Conn., to fire up the left´s anti-liberty agenda, President Obama and other prominent liberal Democrats are taking Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel´s infamous maxim — "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste" — to new depths. At a Sunday night prayer vigil in Newtown, the president delivered words that on their face appear soothing, hope-filled and decisive — exactly what´s expected of presidential leadership. "These tragedies must end," he said. "And to end them, we must change." But when Obama repeats that single-worded slogan from his presidential campaign,

I love this phoney Obama. He goes on tv and does the big tearful act. This is after he and Holder already sent real assault guns across the border that have killed thousands of Mexicans and Americans

I was bemused by the early comments on FNC as to the propriety of NerØbama´s speech. Non-political, my foot. We know what these radicals are and what to expect. They lie. They simply - lie.

As to the GOP response to this and the budget issues, I see only two outcomes: either they will grow a pair and shut down the government to assert their authority in Congress to rein in this pResident, or they will cave. The former will be painful for all of us. The latter threatens the viability of the Constitution itself, and probably spells the end of the GOP, among other things.

Not happy thoughts for this Christmas season. Be in the holiday spirit regardless, and take comfort that there is yet a Higher Authority.

The liberal Democrats and Progressives used to call for banning "assault rifles" but now they are calling for banning "assault weapons" that will essentially include all semi-automatic weapons that could possibly utilize a clip or a magazine that could hold over 10 rounds. Such a broad definition of an "assault weapon" would include just about all semi-automatic rifles and handguns.

If this tragedy can result in changes in laws to make it easier for those with serious mental illness to get treatment - then I say "exploit" away! Family members and mental health professionals have been crying for help for years...but no one has had the political will to listen. It doesn´t take more money; it takes smarter use of the money. Treat people with mental illness before they commit crimes instead of paying for their indefinite stays in prisons after they have changed the lives of victims forever. Listen to their families when they tell you that their loved one is deteriorating and needs hospitalization for his safety and for the safety of others. Amend HIPPA so that families can know when their adult children with serious mental illness are in treatment and what medications they are on. Make it easier to create housing for the seriously mentally ill so they won´t be homeless or living with elderly parents who can no longer monitor them safely.

All a gun ban would do is create an underground network for their distribution and sale. People in the inner city don´t go to Walmart or Dick´s sporting goods and buy a gun, they´re distributed in an underground network.

I think one thing you could do as part of the background check is get 3 other adults over the age of 21 to vouch for the buyer. It would be a simple questionnaire like have you seen so and so display violent behavior.

Wouldn´t have helped in this case by maybe in Va..tech,Arizona and Col.where I´m thinking they all bought stuff over the internet.

Reply 14 - Posted by: rabbit, 12/18/2012 7:43:33 AM     (No. 9072205)

#14, a questionnaire is risky. Friends may never have seen the behaviors. You could require family members to sign...but what proof would you require that the person had actually lived with the person in question and truly knew?

For starters, permit people with serious mental illness and their immediate families, as well as their psychiatrists and therapists, to put them on a "do not sell to" list. Today, a person cannot voluntarily put himself on such a list...even if he knows he has experienced psychotic breaks in the past and wants the assurance that no one would sell him a gun during a future psychotic break. That is wrong.

To answer partially one question, we and Univision know that F&F weapons were used to murder 16 teens at a party in a city near the Texas border. Holder and hussein know this too, as does fat Nadler and Axeldick.

But these weren´t "our children, in our schools, in our cities". Though they were killed by Holder and hussein´s guns, the killings were "under the radar", so there´s nothing to exploit. Not a word from the Brady bunch, or the slime-infested drive-by media.

HOW many signs of instability were there?
YET this shooter was sanctioned to have guns by the US Government ! Since he is still considered to be IN the military, he is drawing a check every month, paid for by taxpayers. 3 years and no trial!

How many of these tragedies have taken place with this horrible man in office? Three? Four? (Not that anyone ever points that out.) And the gun-control crowd still thinks he´s actually serious about doing something? Please. Ultimately, nothing will actually get done because Democrats in Congress know they´d lose their seats if it did -- and because gun sales go through the roof after one of these horrible incidents. They fear the millions of law-abiding gun owners more than the evil and/or insane people who commit these atrocities.

Where is the outcry to more closely monitor patients who have been given prescriptions for psychotropic meds?
Why is dem´s answer always seem to involve removing my ability to defend myself?

Reply 21 - Posted by: trapper, 12/18/2012 9:18:40 AM     (No. 9072367)

Obama is absolutely correct. We do need to change something.

When faced with an active shooter, standard police procedure used to be to wait for the arrival of a SWAT team. Columbine turned that on its head. Modern police training now says the first officer on the scene should hunt and eliminate the shooter as quickly as possible. Much like the military, officers are trained to run to the gunfire. To attack without delay. Perhaps it is time to rethink our school procedures as well.

Perhaps schools, even elementary schools, should train their students to attack the attackers, rather than to run away and hide and wait to become victims. They don’t have to take out the shooter, just delay him long enough for the gym teacher to arrive with a baseball bat. If a potential shooter, even a deranged one, knew that attacking a grade school meant arousing 300 raging little killer bees, it might make him think twice about it.

Women have been taught for decades in self defense classes to bite, scratch, pinch, poke eyes, everything BUT be passive. Fight for your life. Why not give our children the same chance?

Yeah? Why do you say that?

504 murders of young black men so far 2012 just in Chicago. Up 25% from 2011.

Since 1976, the number of young black men age 14 and up murdered in America? 220,000. By other young black men

Add in black females 14 and up killed by other blacks same time period and the total rises to a staggering 300,000. 8,500 per year. 23 per day for 35 years.

A Newton Conn school shooting every day in Black America. (crickets)

No word from Obama or Feinstein on this.

Just fiery rhetoric political talk talk when white suburban kids are killed.

Never let a tragedy go to waste...

I hate to admit I have reached the point where I even think this, but I find the timing and nature of this attack kind of suspicious.

Obama didn´t even wait a day after the election to restart the UN gun ban treaty talks, and it was massacres of young children in schools that finally pushed Australia and (formerly) Great Britain to practically ban all hand guns.

Could this have been a setup to further Zippy´s gun ban agenda? Before you say I´m insane, remember this admin had no problem killing hundreds of Mexicans for just that purpose.

Ok, I´ll go adjust my tinfoil hat now.

Oh, no. It´s so hard to remember which guns we don´t like! Help me remember, Valerie: killing Chicago children nightly--that´s okay, right? And sending guns into Mexico to kill our own border agents--that´s fine, too right? And it´s okay to sell arms to Syria through Libya, even if our own diplomats and soldiers die to cover it up, right? It´s those weapons legally sold in our country to our own citizens that I want to get rid of. Is that right? Valerie? Valerie?

#15.. and when a divorce or relationship goes really bad, when someone simply holds a grudge, when humans act like the selfish nasty petty souls they so often are and "put" someone on your list that doesn´t belong there, then what? The government gets involved, homes get invaded, children get taken away, rights get tossed out the window, people get harassed and labelled and worse. The only ones that profit are the lawyers. This has happened to parents when a neighbor with a grudge reports them to government child protective services for child abuse that never happened. It is a nightmare.

Sorry, your plan is shortsighted and in the end in no way takes into account that as much good as your plan might do, it has just as much possibility for being exploited for evil.

Speaking at Ohio State University this month, Barack Obama urged students to pay no attention to those paranoid types who "incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity." Oddly enough, in recent days the most compelling testimony for this view of government has come from the president himself, who insists, with a straight face, that he had no idea that the Internal Revenue Service had spent two years targeting his political enemies until he "learned about it from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this."

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.
