| Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel called for a nationwide assault-weapons ban Monday in response to the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Emanuel made his remarks at a Chicago Police Department graduation ceremony Monday morning. “It’s time that we as a city have an assault weapons ban. It’s time that we as a state have an assault weapons ban. It’s time that we as a country have an assault weapons ban,” Emanuel said. “And I would hope the leadership in Congress now will have a vote of conscience. It is time to have that vote.”

Comments: Rahm never let a crisis go to waste Emanuel lives up to his moniker. The insane leftists are coming out of the woodworks. His hypocrisy is just stunning as he presides over a city where blood runs in the streets every day.

Yeah, it worked so well last time we did it that we should do it again. And we should expand the gun free zones. But the last thing we need to do is figure out what couses these events (mentally ill wack jobs) and do something about them! Band ´em watch crime drop just like it dropped when Chciago banded all guns.

Rahm has some expertise on what constitutes mass death, it seems:

He is just mad the courts ruled the concealed carry weapons ban in his town was unconstitutional. Notice how his only option to the mass murders in his hometown is to send out fliers begging the bad boys and girls to stop. Most of them probably can´t read. Now that people can legally protect themselves again in Illinois, it will just be a matter of time before the thugs meet up with the wrong end of a gun. Then we will hear nothing but noise about racial attacks.
Mark my words.

Rahm is the idiot that keeps on giving...
So, Rahm ol´ boy...how´re those Chicago ´gun rules´ working out for ya´? Given the Chi-town murder rate is higher than the death rate in Afghanistan - and you´ve already got the toughest gun laws in the country...seems you´d have a bit more sense...
What - this is Rahm here. More sense? What was I thinking?

Why is Emanuel for robbery, rape and murder of Chicago residents? Why won´t he join the NRA in using Project Exile in Chicago which would force harsher sentencing for gun crimes? You know why.

Has anyone (including the "Press") asked Mr. Mayor of Chicago why there are so many shootings and other crimes committed by armed criminals in his fair city? Don´t they have "strong gun control laws" in both Chicago and the rest of Illinois? And, oh by the way, how do the crime stats for Chicago compare with the rest of the state?

Rahm is such a jerk! He should hide away and not whisper a sound...Chicago has as of yesterday...400 MURDERS so far in 2012 due to shootings and hundreds wounded. For a city that bans guns (and the state) this means that LEGAL guns are not the problem, it´s the illigal guns that is causing the problem and what is Rahm doing about it??? This means that even if ALL LEGAL guns were destroyed, it leaves only the illigal guns and all law abiding citizens unprotected! Obviously the Mayor NOR the police can protect them and citizens are barred from doing so. How many articles have we seen coming out of Chicago pointing out all these dead people? 400 killed and hundreds wounded??? Where has the president been on this? How about the media??? Don´t these 400 killed count? Maybe because Rahm is an anti gun jerk liberal Democrat, Chicago is a non-gun city and their inability to do anything is embarrasing to the anti-gun groups. I guess the families of the 400 killed are not political enough to bring this up to the nation. Of course the MENTAL state issue is not being played up much, what will be said when the THREE states that allow mind altering drugs to be used legally and openly begin to have doped up killers taking a toll???

Might as well ban hockey sticks too. They weren´t used in the Newtown killings either.
The nut case broke about 41 laws. Making firearms illegal to own won´t solve the problem. It only means he would have broken 42.

10 sec sound bite pile of BS to be spoon fed to the stupid voter class by the bought and paid for media whores. But just my opinion.
Rahm, what is an assault weapon? If I went to a gun show or shop and said, "I want to buy an assault weapon" I would get laughed out of the building.
I have seen everything from detachable magazines, pistol grips, flash suppressors, bayonet mounts, adjustable/folding stocks, barrel shrouds, magazines larger than 10 rounds all use to describe "assault weapons" but in the end I have yet to figure out why any of those things make any gun any more dangerous or any less useful and/or necessary when using a gun for self defense. Many an everyday gun used to defend the lives of law abiding people have one or more of those characteristics.

All this talk of gun bans is a very bad thing. The 2nd amendment is there as a last hedge against a tyrannical government. In the last 30 years (arguably) our government has mutated from one that protects individual rights into one that limits them. They tax us out of prosperity, they rig elections, they violate every single article in the bill of rights routinely. Distrust of these despots is at an all time high for good reason. They have more in common with Soviet Russia than a free America. If they keep pushing this, the cliff they force the entire nation off will make the fiscal one look like a step off a curb.

I´d add the little symbol to indicate I´m being sarcastic but my statement isn´t completely sarcastic. You know where this ban on ´assault weapons´ is going, right? First they´ll get their ban on assault weapons, then they´ll start redefining what constitutes an assault weapon. Eventually anything that shoots a bullet will be considered an assault weapon because, after all, you can assault someone with just a pistol, right? This is what these bastages do.

We now know that the Justice Department kept exceptionally close tabs on Fox News reporter James Rosen in 2010, following his trips in and out of the State Department, hacking his personal emails and phone calls. Normal newsgathering activities are being treated as criminal activities by the White House. But consider what the same White House had to say about Fox News back in 2009. You might remember the concerted effort by White House officials to brand the right-leaning Fox News as a bogus news outlet, unworthy of attention.

Abedin did not disclose either the arrangement, or how much she earned from it, on her financial report, despite a requirement that public officials must disclose significant sources of income. A federal judge in Washington ruled in 2010 that the Justice Department was not required by law to notify Fox reporter James Rosen that prosecutors had obtained his emails in connection with an investigation into a leak about North Korean plans to test a nuclear weapon. In September 2010, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth overruled the conclusion of federal magistrate John Facciola that Rosen—whose Gmail account was searched—was entitled by law to be informed. Prosecutors contended that under the statute used to get Rosen´s emails, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, they were not

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
