| The Egyptian arena is witnessing a great political, intellectual, popular and media battle. Different sides are fighting over authority, positions, history and the future. The disputed proposed constitution has caused bloodshed on both sides, but could anyone have expected people to die just for constitutional differences? Worse still the battle is about the future of Egypt; its political camps, trends and issues, and it could possibly lead to further tensions. We are in the third quarter of the Egyptian revolution. Asharq Al-Awsat means "The Middle East." This editorial makes it clear that Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood, who have a singular Sharia Law interest, are at odds with the majority of people who put them in power because they did not want this form of government. Since they just fought to replace one dictator, they are still ready to oppose having their freedoms through government controlled.

I wonder if anyone in the Egyptian elite has read Catherine Drinker Bowen´s "Miracle in Philadelphia"?
I wonder if the author of this piece has any knowledge of the struggle in 1787 that produced the Constitution of The United States of America?
How many new wheels must be invented? How many of those new wheels are truly round?

BS. Sorry, the Brotherhood and associated Islamist parties make up more than 50% of Egypt. The future of Egypt is as an Islamist state with sharia as the final word. There´s no dispute over this. What´s ironic is that in the near future we will look at the Brotherhood as the moderates. How the world changes and it never seems to get better.
