NEWTOWN, Conn.— A mournful President Barack Obama said Sunday that the nation is failing to keep its children safe, pledging that change must come after an elementary-school massacre left 20 children dead. “What choice do we have?” Obama said. “Are we really prepared to say that we´re powerless in the face of such carnage, that the politics are too hard?” In a vigil for the fallen, in a moment of grief that spread around the world, Obama conceded that none of his words would match the sorrow. But he declared to the community of Newtown: “You are not alone.”

Obama was doing a good job until he went politcal. It just wasn´t appropriate. He was there to console not to score political points.

Why does 0bama NEVER mention the carnage caused by a Muslim at Ft Hood? I guess that was not a tragedy. Oh well, I´m sure it´s just an oversight....

Obama calls the murder of 20 children a tragedy but blesses the killings of millions as a ´woman´s right to choose´.

He is a wicked man and intends to make this a wedge issue. The Democrats 2014 campaign to retake the House kicked off tonight in Newtown, CT.

As a parent/grandparent/greatgrandparent, I think we should start with the rap music/movies/video games, etc. that foster violence first!

We need to be able to defend ourselves.

I personally do not own a gun or want one, but I respect those who do and want to be able to protect themselves and their loved ones.

The disparity today that exists, that Obama has prospered through class and race warfare, helping/controlling some, and not caring about others.

We need God back in our schools and the 10 Commandments posted - Thou shalt not kill - would be good to see posted and to know that there is a God who created US and loves US, not for US to be told that we can take care of ourselves.

We have always placed our Faith/trust in God. Even our money confirms our inner knowledge.

Obama has caused more confusion/distrust in this country through his many ways of turning one against another.

Obama is more interested in his own personal well being - vacations/parties/golf courses, etc.

We need to "come together" for the betterment of everyone, knowing we are God´s creatures and He loves US.

Can we forget political correctness and just be civil and caring about our fellowman?

Pray together or the government will control every aspect of our lives. God is still our Savior!

We have become a third-world country overnight!

Answering President Obama - Are we really prepared to say that we´re powerless in the face of such carnage? We have been ever since he became president.

We need to live our Faith and not our Fear!God alone can/will free US from Obama´s self-rule!

He just can´t let go of class warfare! For him, what better way to cause rifts in the population but to call for a ban on guns and he does it through "suggestion". Why couldn´t he leave those people alone? They are suffering and all he does is put on a show. Why should we think he´s being honest and truly sorry! Don´t agree with #4. He is an evil man.

Even as he lectures our nation, Barack Obama is still hiding behind Executive Privilege regarding his role in "Fast & Furious."

Why did Obama and Eric Holder put thousands of firearms into the hands of Mexico´s most violent drug cartels?

Because Obama and Holder wanted to attack our Second Amendment rights.

What did Obama and Holder achieve by arming these Mexican drug gangs?

They got over three hundred Mexican citizens murdered, as well as getting two American law enforcement officers killed as well....

Don´t lecture me on gun control, Barky, you damned fraud. You have the blood of HUNDREDS on your hands.

You got it, Mr. President: we are indeed prepared to admit that we are powerless in the face of such carnage. And we think that symbolic, feel-good steps such as banning assault rifles are shallow, ineffective and a threat to our freedoms, since we do not for a moment believe that the banning of weapons will stop with assault rifles. We think the proposed remedy -more gun control- is far more dangerous in a different way to far more people than the disease, the use of firearms by criminals and lunatics to kill people. And we think that such emotion-driven legislation provides a false sense of security. Many of us who think this way neither own nor desire to own an "assault rifle." Many of us do not own a firearm at all. We just hate to see foolish reflex responses of emotion transformed into legislation that encroaches on our freedoms. We are prepared to accept a certain level of crime and lunatic mass killings as the price of liberty.

We are also realists. We know this game is lost. An electorate capable of putting a Barack Obama in the White House not once but twice will undoubtedly be led by its emotions and shallow thinking` to ban assault weapons. That will make them feel better - for a while, until something else happens that makes them want to ban other firearms too. They will most likely do that and keep doing it until at last they have voluntarily disarmed themselves entirely in the hope of staying safe and secure.

"WE" will have to change....? Who is this "we"? Is it all of us stupid "gun clingers"?

This statement provides another insight into the the thinking of 0bama. We´re a monolith of stupid, ignorant, uncivilized, and primitive citizens in need of a caring leader like him.

We are not powerless. There is so much to be done. But they only have one answer.

I am so UNconfident in the republicans these day - plus the news that a conservative supreme court justice wants to step down this year -- we certainly could lose more liberty, more rapidly, than even in the last 4 years.

We are not powerless to face this problem. We are afraid of the political correct crowd. The easy way is to blame the gun. The hard way is to confront mental illness and keep guns out of THEIR hands. If it means locking them up for the safety of all, then we must do it. Obama will try to come up with some liberal claptrap to solve the problem. He is afraid to face the real problem.

As usual the Blamer-In-Chief has to give gravitas to his photo op jaunt to Newtown. He made some crack about our no longer tolerating this sort of thing, as though we had been tolerating it all along and needed him to set us on the right path.

American parents have kept their children safe for a long, long time. Most of us don´t believe in destroying them in the womb, either. We know what he thinks about that. And about the ones who inconveniently survive late term abortions.

So shut up. Your speech was not comforting. It was insulting. And hypocritical coming from one such as you.

Ibragim Todashev "just went crazy," and pulled a knife during his interview with the FBI, said state and federal law enforcement officials briefed on the latest strange twist in the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing. The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. A large majority of Americans hold a bleak outlook on the state of morality in the United States, as 72% said the nation’s moral values are “getting worse,” and only 20% said that moral values are “getting better,” according to a recent Gallup survey. The poll specifically showed that Americans who attend church weekly, are married, or are Republican, were the most negative about the country’s moral direction. But even Democrats, people who attend church infrequently, and the unmarried had high negative outlooks about the nation’s moral values. In the telephone survey of 1,535 adults

Emails seeking the information date back to September 2012, six weeks before the November election. At that point, the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration had promised an update. Based on other evidence provided to the committee, the inspector general was aware of the IRS practice of targeting conservative groups

Piled high amid a trail of destruction, these tragic horses are among more than 100 thought to have been killed in the Oklahoma tornado. As well as human lives that were lost, farms around the suburb of Moore took a direct hit from the giant twister which swept up everything in its path with winds of more than 200mph and the power of up to 600 nuclear bombs. Witnesses who cowered in terror described seeing ´horses and stuff flying around everywhere´ and returning to find ´scorched earth´ and crumpled buildings. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
