Democratic California senator Dianne Feinstein announced today that she will be introducing a bill that would ban assault weapons. “He is going to have a bill to lead on,” Feinstein said of President Obama on Meet the Press, “because as a first day bill, I’m going to introduce in the senate and the same bill will be introduced in the house,a bill to ban assault weapons. It will.ban the sale, the transfer, the importation, and the possession –not retroactively, but prospectively. And it will ban the same for big clips, drums, or strips of more than ten bullets.”..

What a dim opportunist. Watch gun sales skyrocket!

Feinstein should work on her reading skills. Lanza used two handguns for his spree and left the rifle in the car. It was not used in the murders.

Of course, facts don´t matter to liberals, it´s the emotions that are important.

Slightly off topic but why is all of the police talking about tracking the "whole history" of each weapon from manufacture until it´s use in Newtown. They are saying that they want to trace any use of each weapon in any other crimes.
Do they know that they will find evidence of this? Thinga that make you go Hmmmmm.

There has been an escalation in weapons purchases since the kenyan klown was elected and now reelected. Feinstein is demonstrating why that is.
Instead of focusing on guns, she should be focusing on mental health availability, with qualified, trained professionals providing the service, not kids straight out of undergraduate school, with a lack of coursework to support the job of counselor.
She should also be reconsidering the privacy laws that stop parents from being part of their adult child´s treatment.

Her definition of assualt weapons match my varnmit air rifle.
My definition of assault weapons encompansses the tool box the abortion murders employ on precious babies.

Posturing. You can´t eliminate the so called assault weapon without eliminating the most popular deer rifles, the Remington Nylon 66, and all pistols and revolvers. Good luck with that.

Go ahead, ban them. It won´t make an ounce of difference. What Feinstein needs to ban is mental illness. Somehow, I doubt she will tackle that problem. Come to think of it, the liberals already tackled that problem and it no longer exists. All those terrible asylmns are gone.

How about we attach an abortion ban on the bill and watch it die in committee.

What Feinstein needs to ban are her botox treatments.

Reply 12 - Posted by: ann_n_GA, 12/16/2012 4:31:02 PM     (No. 9069566)

Sure, go ahead and ban them. Law-abiding people will not have them but the drug dealers, crooks, robbers and looters will. Then, the bad guys will continue to just take what they want.

This is such a simple and logical thought. Why don´t liberals and people who shout gun control understand this? The bad guys will have all the power.

Sort of sounds like Zippy and his plans for the US...

Feinstein needs to be banned. No assault weapons were used in the killing. Last I heard the .223 rifle was left in the car. Now, is the story changing to fit their version of events? Is Eric Holder going to be arrested for Fast & Furious which caused hundreds of deaths at least? Is Obama going to be impeached for treason right along with Holder?

The USA is dead. It died Nov. 6th, 2012.

Last time she wanted to ban any rifle painted black or that had a pistol grip.

Outright ban? What happened to the ´conversation´ we were supposed to have?

Chicago kills 20 people every two weeks, all year long.

Abortion kills 3,300 EACH DAY.

The family has broken down.

Hollywood continues to make violent movies glorifying violence.

Loners sit in the basement playing violent video games.

Union thugs beat up people that they disagree with. Their leaders threaten the state leaders.

Let´s have that ´conversation´ you hypocrite.

Sorry, #2. You are the one who doesn´t have the facts. The State Police announced YESTERDAY that ALL the killings were done with the assault rifle, not the handguns. Each victim was hit between 3 and 11 times fired from the rifle. All the autopsies proved that. That information was repeated at the press conference today. The only time a handgun was used by the killer was to commit suicide. Try to get the facts before posting criticism of others.

Good point post 10. Here is my two cents. Close to a million illegals sneak across the border every year. If "assault" weapons are banned the demand for those guns could easily be fulfilled by illegals packing guns in with them. Therefore a liberal ban on "assault" weapons would make liberals feel good but the ban may actually multiply the number of such guns in circulation. So in addition to the post 10 suggestion how about attaching an appropriation of $50 billion to close the border. Make liberals prove just how badly they want their gun grab.

How can Obama really create a police state when we still have an armed citizenry. Its the last step. The good news is where I live they can´t buy ammo fast enough. The above article concerning the ACLU forcing through a ban on forced mental help confinement for violent people will get lost in all this. Wonder how all those hunters in Ohio and Michigan are going to like their President and Senators. Everybody I know has been waiting for this shoe to drop, thought we would get through inauguration first. As Obama ties the Hangman´s noose and grins from ear to ear standby it only gets worse.

Feinstein should get a law passed saying that crazy people can no longer possess guns. That should get the job done as we all know that crazy people obey all laws.

Crazy people can also vote in the USA, and you can safely bet that the crazy people who do vote support liberal Democrats who certainly have more in common with them then conservative Republicans. That´s why liberal Democrats never blame crazy people for their criminal and irresponsible acts. On the other side of the coin, liberal Democrats always blame guns anytime a mass shooting occurs, of course guns can´t vote, so that is the safe thing for the liberal Democrats to do in the short term.

Real "assault weapons" have automatic actions, which are not legal in the US, although illegal modification kits can be purchased under the counter. The Bushmaster is not an assault rifle.

Reply 43 - Posted by: mamafrog, 12/16/2012 9:09:55 PM     (No. 9069886)

I am not a gun owner. I have noticed that one factor we have often seen in the most publicized mass killings with guns is a mentally deranged teen or young adult whose parents were unable to get treatment for them. I suspect one of the positive results that could come from a national conversation on gun violence is measures to limit the ability of the mentally ill to have access to guns. There are too many guns in our country for them to be ever removed, we could however change the way we treat violent young people.

Look, California is a state whose legislature and moron Governator banned the .50 cal bolt action due to fears that it could "shoot down an airliner". Given idiocy on that level, the definition of "assault rifle" can be expanded to include a slingshot.

BTW, Barrett got around the ban with the .416. Our lawmakers are fascist, but very very stupid.

Liberals used to love to quote the (apparently apocryphal) line from a Sinclair Lewis character “When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and waving a cross.” Wonder if they’re reflecting on that this week? We knew that early in the first term, the White House attempted to exclude a news agency from pool reports. Now come revelations that the Justice Department engaged in sweeping eavesdropping on AP journalists; that the IRS targeted conservative private citizens while favoring liberal ones; that the EPA charged fees to conservatives groups while waiving them for “green” activists;

MOORE, Okla. — Spotlights bore down on massive piles of shredded cinder block, insulation and metal as crews worked through the night lifting bricks and parts of collapsed walls where a monstrous tornado barreled through the Oklahoma City suburbs, demolishing an elementary school and reducing homes to piles of splintered wood. At least 51 people were killed, including at least 20 children, and those numbers were expected to climb, officials said Tuesday. The storm stripped leaves off trees and left scores of blocks in Moore barren and dark. Rescuers walked through neighborhoods where Monday´s powerful twister flattened home after home

Perhaps no other IRS official is more intimately associated with the tax agency´s growing scandal than Lois Lerner, director of the IRS’s Exempt Organizations Division.
