Obamacare and My Daughter

Elections have consequences. The president signed a law which forces citizens to purchase a product simply on the virtue that they are alive. Our Supreme Court upheld the law, giving the government the power to tax inactivity. When the law is fully implemented, we may see a shift from our role as citizens to subjects. Instead of “pay for play,” it will become “pay, if you play our way.” We are moving slowly down this path, and can begin to see the cliff before us. Still, there is time to slow the process and change course.

The endless gush of additional rules and regulations CAUSED by the initial legislation is the purpose of the whole exercise. The Dictator needs to be arbitrary and contradictory and changeable and even whimsical in his proclamations or else it´s really no fun being the Dictator.

Bad news, Justin. There haven´t been any citizens here since 1865.
Menchen: "The American people, north and south, went into the [civil} war as citizens of their respective states. They came out [of the war] as subjects and what they thus lost they have never got back."

I was really sick. I knew I needed to be in the hospital. I went into up to the emergency room counter and threw up on it (not on purpose). I was in my own bed in my own room withing 30 minutes.

This should be a must read. Nobody gets that the future of Obamacare is reduced care.

My inlaws are big Democrats and they´ll be hard hit by the ACA. They just don´t know it because they refuse to believe the sources who are trying to tell them the truth.

Unfortunately, the Repubs eem to be standing on the sidelines, howling about each and everything that Zippy and his henchmen do, yet doing nothing about it when they have the chance, other than allow it to occur and continue.

They are complicit ion every problem this nation faces today. It is time to remove them all, dissolve thenGOP, and see the birth of a new party that believes in the principles of our founding fathers. Maybe it´s the Libetarians, or maybe it is a new party, but the GOP is never going to recover the support they burned in the 2012 election, and that Boehner will finish as he caves on raising taxes and fixing nothing.

Criminal losers all.

Kind of puts the whole modern Democrat era into perspective, doesn´t it.

The first thing people must face is Obama was illegally elected and Obamacare was done in secret.

Warnings were out there and you didn´t have to search for them. I spoke to an untold number of people--every chance I had. I wasn´t popular with a lot of them. And I have a friend who passed out printed copies of warning articles by reputable writers. I wonder how many Ldotters did the same? Thousands, at least.

People didn´t believe it before the election, they don´t believe it now. It´s going to take too long for the word to spread and for people to believe there´s a serious problem.

All I can suggest is: be kind to your PCP and staff. There will come a time when you need them very badly and showing respect and appreciation will help. At least send a Christmas card. Better would be a box of candy--anything as a token of your appreciation.

I am the mom of two children who were born with birth defects. One child had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It is 100% fatal if they do not get heart surgery immediately after birth and then there is a heart transplant somewhere in the future. My son died because we didn´t know he had it.

Thanks to strides in heart surgery and promising advances in stem cell research, more children with HLHS are living, but there are none beyond the age of 30 because the technology is still so new. Baby Faye, who in 1984 received the heart of a baboon, was an infant with HLHS.

My daughter, who is now 4, was born with a sacrococcygeal (say-crow-cox-ee-gee-al) teratoma and while hers was relatively simple, there are many children I know who had incredibly complicated ones weighing anywhere up to 5 lbs at birth. About 100 kids in the US are born with these each year. If they can make it to birth....and make it through the surgery, kids with SCT go on to live fairly normal lives.....cont....

Reply 15 - Posted by: MsMontana, 12/16/2012 8:29:40 PM     (No. 9069849)

....continued from above....

However, some kids do have bowel and bladder issues and a few can have issues with walking. Again, stem cell research has shown a promising future regarding the regrowth or bowels, bladders, and in some cases nerves.

All this is going to stop because of Obamacare. There will be no more innovative research done for conditions such as these because the initial onset is very very costly. For my daughter to have her teratoma removed was around 110K in 2008, not to mention I had to fly to Atlanta from Montana in order to have her there....which was not covered by insurance....we gladly paid that.

Both of my children had conditions where abortion is routinely advised. This will become more and more persistent because there just simply will not be treatment options for children born with these conditions.

It makes me sick.

Thousands of activists rallied outside the Capitol on Wednesday to protest the IRS targeting of conservative and tea party groups, with many of the event’s speakers laying the blame for the fiasco squarely at the White House. The “Audit the IRS” rally, organized by the Tea Party Patriots organization in response to the agency’s improper scrutiny of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status, drew members and leaders of tea party groups across the country, radio personality Glenn Beck and the Senate’s tea party trio: Republicans Rand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas

The government’s chief auditor on Wednesday said President Obama’s health care overhaul is in danger of missing key October deadlines, raising concerns it could be the nightmare that Republicans and even some Democratic lawmakers have feared of late. In one study released Wednesday, the Government Accountability Office offered a mixed review of the Obama administration efforts to make sure the “exchanges” — insurance markets where individuals and businesses can shop for health plans — will be open for enrollment

DENVER — College campuses are known for proudly proclaiming their refusal to tolerate discrimination against any minority group, but try telling that to a conservative. Few would disagree that conservative professors are an endangered species on campus, which is why the University of Colorado Board of Regents is scheduled to consider Thursday a resolution that would prohibit discrimination based on “political affiliation or political philosophy.” Regent James Geddes said the proposed policy change is aimed at bringing more diversity of intellectual thought

Journalist Michael Hastings was killed early Tuesday morning in a bizarre car incident in Los Angeles. Hastings, 33, was best known for writing the Rolling Stone story that ended in Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s resignation as head of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Hastings’ final story, “Why Democrats Love to Spy on Americans,” was a searing take on the NSA snooping scandal, which Hastings described as “North Korea-esque.” Hastings pulled no punches as he linked the NSA scandal to the Department of Justice’s spying on reporters and the IRS abuse scandal. Hastings built a case that the same Democrats who turned Bush-era

An IRS supervisor working in Washington told congressional investigators that she personally reviewed applications from groups for tax-exempt status, in testimony that appears to show the agency’s scrutiny of conservative groups extended beyond the confines of the office in Cincinnati. Holly Paz, who was a supervisor in the Internal Revenue Service’s tax-exempt status division, indicated during an interview with congressional investigators that she did review such applications, but indicated that she believed “tea party” meant political advocacy in general — not necessarily conservative groups.

Political appointees at the Defense Department, the CIA and the White House brushed aside concerns from career officials about helping two Hollywood filmmakers research their 2012 movie about the top-secret Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden, according to a report from the Pentagon’s inspector general. CIA Director Leon E. Panetta, who had been nominated to take over at the Pentagon; Mike Vickers, defense undersecretary for intelligence; and politically appointed public affairs staff in both agencies and the White House helped secure

The Supreme Court ruled today in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council that federal law does not allow states the option of requiring voters to prove they are American citizens when they register to vote. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA, or “Motor Voter”) creates a standardized national system for registering to vote in federal elections. It allows for registration three ways: (1) in person, (2) when you get your driver’s license, or (3) by mail. The Election Assistance Commission (EAC, created by a later federal law in 2002)

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
