| A poll conducted last week by an Iowa-based firm showed Americans are conflicted about whether or not to support raising tax rates on wealthy Americans to avert the so-called “fiscal cliff.” But that’s not how Bloomberg News, which commissioned the poll, reported the results Thursday. In a story headlined “Americans Back Obama Tax-Rate Boost Tied to Entitlements,” Bloomberg emphasized only that the poll showed most Americans support President Barack Obama’s insistence on increasing taxes for high-income earners.

Any published poll should be made to include the actual questions and methodology. If we can force cigarette manufacturers to contain effusive and frightening warnings on the package, we certainly should do the same for something as dangerous and addictive as the constant effort to control what we should think . As we´ve seen in the most recent election, the by-product of this results in the setting of national policy. And we thought second hand smoke was dangerous to our health.

Polls have become the propaganda "norm" of this generation of leftie/boomers....
The polls tell the one hiring the pollster -- in this case bloomberg -- what they want to hear...
I don´t trust polls and I don´t listen to them...

I don´t need to know what other people think to decide what I think is right. I thought being an adult meant thinking for yourself and forming good conclusions. This constant poll pushing just highlights the juvenile nature of the country.

We don´t need a poll to tell us this, we just had an election. In simple math, it indicated that roughly 50% favor raising taxes, 50% are against raising taxes and the other 50% don´t understand simple math.

#9, the closest numbers I could find are (based on the election):
31.5% cluelessly favor higher taxes 29% are against higher taxes 39.5% are clueless and too lazy to vote

As far as I am concerned, any political poll is suspect and considered to be propaganda. Consumer polls, where I am asked what flavor pudding I like, might be O.K., but never a political poll.

Polls are propaganda and should be treated as such . What IS important is how this dung heap Bloomburg has managed to interject himself into the lives of our entire countries citizenry . Using his wealth and performing like his kindred elitists in DC , his meddling has morphed into attacking our Constitution . We read today on Drudge his ´ take ´ on the 2nd ammendment , tho not reported that way . Can anyone living in that sewer NY tell me when we expect him to be gone ? .

#1: Don´t forget they should also include population size as well as demographics of the sample population polled.
I had two courses in Stats in college. I learned to always ask the above before I make any decision on any sampling that had been done. That gives you the clearest picture.

Nurses treating Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev say their natural inclination toward compassion makes it difficult to see the 19-year-old as a possible terrorist. And they have to make concerted effort — and buddy-system pacts — to keep from referring to him with terms of endearment such as “hon.” One 29-year-old nurse said on Gawker: “When you’re in the room, it’s just a patient. You’re here to … make sure they’re feeling better. When you step away, you take it in. I am compassionate, that’s what we do. But should I be? The rest of the world hates him right now.”

The government will use any and all information at its disposal to find journalist sources, as shown in The Washington Post´s report this morning on a Department of Justice investigation into Fox News chief correspondent James Rosen, who may face criminal charges for reporting government secrets. In June 2009, Rosen reported on CIA analysis suggesting that North Korea might respond to new UN sanctions with renewed nuclear tests. In order to determine how Rosen learned of the analysis, which had been issued by the CIA only a few hours prior, FBI investigators used every tool at their disposal: analyzing

Last Thursday, Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) started a Twitter prairie fire with his call for people to describe #ObamacareInThreeWords. (My contribution was “Sorry, Doctor retired.”) (Snip) The White House, never shy to jump into social media, responded with a flurry of tweets, including “It’s. The. PORTLAND, Ore.—In the 1950s, after health authorities began fluoridating U.S. water supplies, they faced opposition from groups like the John Birch Society, which called it "an unconstitutional mass medication of the public." Sixty years later, the fight over fluoridation has erupted in Portland, where the battle has drawn in the city´s craft-beer brewers, organic-food purveyors and environmentalists. Even some of the city´s famed indie-rock musicians are taking sides. The debate has prompted something of an existential crisis in this self-consciously liberal city, which votes Tuesday on whether to overturn the city council´s 2012 decision to fluoridate.

I first saw the headline early Tuesday on Real Clear Politics, a political news site where I generally start my morning. It´s not where I expect to see a story on breast cancer. Then I checked my e-mail messages -- they all seemed to be about Angelina Jolie´s op-ed. Students in my undergraduate class wanted to discuss it in our next session. Colleagues expressed concern and wondered what the right response was. People I don´t even know sent e-mails. One, from a research fellow at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, nicely summed up the general concern:

The late columnist William Safire once said that a good clue that someone in Washington was engaged in “an artful dodge,” i.e., a cover-up, was that they used the phrase “mistakes were made.” Safire defined it as a “passive-evasive way of acknowledging error while distancing the speaker from responsibility for it.” The phrase became infamous when both Richard Nixon and Ron Ziegler, his press secretary, deployed it to explain away Watergate without explaining who did what and when or whether any ill motive was involved. Astonishingly, the Internal Revenue Service resurrected the Nixonian expression within hours

Just when you think the news surrounding Obamagate cannot get any worse, it does. Some say U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s days on the job are numbered and that it’s just a matter of when he’ll be forced to resign. While I’ll not shed a tear over Holder’s departure, one of the replacement names being floated has me reaching for tissues: Gov. Deval Patrick. Patrick has denied he’s interested — but the job isn’t on offer yet. If it is, President Obama should not select him nor should he be confirmed by the Senate for a plethora of reasons.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:
