Reports have emerged that Adam Lanza had visited Sandy Hook Elementary the day before Friday´s massacre during which he was involved in an altercation with four members of staff at the school - three of whom are now dead. The fourth teacher - and only survivor of the altercation - wasn´t at school yesterday and is currently being interviewed by investigators. It hasn´t been revealed what the argument was over or if it was reported to authorities. The staff member’s testimony might be an ´important piece of information´ for discerning motive in this case, reports NBC. Scroll down for video
If they got into an altercation with Lanza last Thursday, you have to wonder why the teachers did not call the police. If they did, the ensuing police intervention might have saved a lot of lives. It is easy to Monday morning quarterback!
"Another victim has been named as six-year-old Jesse Lewis. His father Neil Heslin told the New York Post that he dropped his son off at school that morning and planned to return in the afternoon to join parents in the holiday tradition of making gingerbread houses."
This precious little boy looked so happy in the photo. I just saw clips of his grieving father from yesterday on FOX News. My heart is terribly heavy today.
A press conference just took place. The coroner just said that most of the victims were shot twice.
All schools are surrounded with windows. Even if they had had a reinforced door that he could not have broken down all you have to do is shoot out a window. Or even stand outside the classroom and shoot through the windows. If a school is to be reinforced so no one could ever possibly breech it´s security it would have to be run like a prison. I have to assume that all people who do something this hideous has some type of mental condition. I feel that Chicago thugs shooting each other on street corners is much different than this kind of murder. We threw open the doors of mental institutions in the 60´s and 70´s and pretty much have left these people to fend for themselves. While medication has allowed millions to lead normal productive lives it is not the answer for all. Some people need to be in locked facilities to protect themselves and others. I don´t know who draws up the guidelines or how they are enforced or who pays for them but something needs to be done.
This is crazier by the minute. They´re saying he shot out a window to get in but the day before he casually walks in and argues with 4 people and they don´t call the cops.So that means the kid got buzzed through at the front door. Why wouldn´t the accosted people tell the person at the front desk not to allow him in anymore?
There´s someting coming unglued in white America and i think it´s the poison of liberalism creeping in.We keep hearing about young suburban kids getting easy access to black tar heroin and of course pot is readily available now after the big left declared it a safe drug.
Then you have to look at the degrading career opportunities in Obama´s anti capitalism movement and the war on job creators.Kids are becoming disillusioned about their future so what the hell,go shoot up a theater or school.
What is a mystery to me is why that mother had assault weapons in the house, in the first place, and worse, not under lock and key.. A hand gun for protection I can see, but not the arsenal she had. And knowing her son had serious issues and had been in trouble many times, it seems to me she is culpable as well, and she sure paid the ultimate price for her stupidity/malfeasance.
This woman had a right to own guns, but she had extremely poor judgment to allow her mentally-challenged son to have access to them. As someone pointed out here yesterday, responsible gun owners don´t allow two-year-olds to play with them and they don´t put them in the hands of Alzheimers patients. It´s extremely irresponsible to allow mentally ill/mentally disabled people to get them as well.
Once upon a time in America, the criminally leaning mentally ill could be institutionalized. It was in their best interest and society at large. I know everyone has rights, but there are some people that just can´t function. They need 24/7 supervision. When the time comes and they prove a "danger to themselves or others", it usually is too late. And try to understand the perverse world mentally ill people live in. Reality is unknown to them. They have mental pain and anguish we can´t begin to empathize with.
Seems like it was personal; Not knowing what the argument was... it could have been an employment interview that went bad. The MSM should be able to get ahold of a more recent photo from his facebook page...
But then again.. Instead of using Treyvon Martins gang banger photos on his facebook, they used a 10 year old pic of him.
I must have missed the part where Mom let her son have unauthorized access to guns. One certainly does NOT allow young children, untrained adults or otherwise unstable people access to guns. EVER. At least not around me if I´m expected to stay around.
Absolutely heartbreaking, tears bring no relief from this. Children so young they still had baby teeth slaughtered in a mutilating way by a maniac whose incompetent parents couldn´t/wouldn´t control. I cannot get my mind around this.
Yesterday a blonde girl of about 6 ran in front of my cart at the supermarket; tears just started steaming down my face. Cannot imagine how the families of these kids will get through this.
WASHINGTON- For months, the talk was all about computer code. About response times. About glitches and bugs. People who didn´t know a URL from an http were blithely expounding on software snags and web design, thanks to the clunky launch of healthcare.gov, the insurance marketplace for the government´s big health care overhaul. With the website improving and tech chatter settling down, the conversation about the Affordable Care Act, or "Obamacare," is turning in other directions. (Snip) Or an agenda? The debate over President Barack Obama´s health care law has gradually morphed into a broader discussion about
George Zimmerman´s girlfriend is asking a Seminole County court to lift a no-contact provision against Zimmerman so the couple can "talk and be together," according to a court document obtained by CNN on Monday. Zimmerman was arrested on November 18 at his girlfriend Samantha Scheibe´s Apopka, Florida, home after the two had a heated fight. According to a police report about the incident, Scheibe said that after an argument, Zimmerman broke a table with a shotgun and then pointed it at her "for a minute." Zimmerman is charged with aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of domestic violence
She wakes to the sound of breathing. The smaller children lie tangled beside her, their chests rising and falling under winter coats and wool blankets. A few feet away, their mother and father sleep near the mop bucket they use as a toilet. Two other children share a mattress by the rotting wall where the mice live, opposite the baby, whose crib is warmed by a hair dryer perched on a milk crate. Slipping out from her covers, the oldest girl sits at the window. On mornings like this, she can see all the way across Brooklyn to the Empire
On Sunday´s NBC Meet the Press, host David Gregory used the death of former South African President Nelson Mandela to lecture American politicians: "Mandela refused to be consumed by hatred and insisted on working toward a common purpose with his political foes. That, seems to me, is what is missing from this era of argument in Washington." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump] However, Gregory portrayed President Obama as the victim of such polarization, rather than one of its instigators: "The election of our 44th president was similarly an example of how countries can overcome
The top 40 percent of households by before-tax income actually paid 106.2 percent of the nation’s net income taxes in 2010, according to a new study by the Congressional Budget Office. At the same time, households in the bottom 40 percent took in an average of $18,950 in what the CBO called “government transfers” in 2010. Taxpayers in the top 40 percent of households were able to pay more than 100 percent of net federal income taxes in 2010 because Americans in the bottom 40 percent actually paid negative income taxes, according to the CBO study entitled, “The Distribution of
All three networks on Monday morning highlighted the appearance of the Obamas at the Kennedy Center Honors, but only ABC fawned over "fashion win" of First Lady. Lara Spencer enthused that " one of the stars of the show was Michelle Obama." An excited Spencer explained that Mrs. Obama looked "absolutely ravishing in a flowing teal gown as she accompanied President Obama." The co-host declared, "Another big fashion win for the First Lady. CBS This Morning offered a full report on the various performers who were honored, but co-anchor Charlie Rose avoided ABC´s superlatives.
BANGUI, Central African Republic — Dozens of young men stood waiting for storm clouds to pass, as wind stirred up swirls of red dust on the largely deserted street in Central African Republic’s capital. Through the drizzle, they spotted a man in a flowing white robe traditionally worn by Muslims, hand-in-hand with his adolescent son. The style of dress was enough to confirm that this was their enemy. Hungry for revenge, the crowd descended upon the pair. The man’s terrified son broke away, and fled on foot, abandoning his father as the knife-wielding mob clutched the middle-aged man. Muslim rebels
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
