Crystal Lake aunt recalls
Connecticut shooting suspect

Associated Press, by Staff

The aunt of the gunman suspected in the Connecticut school shooting says her nephew was raised by kind, nurturing parents who would not have hesitated to seek mental help for him if he needed it. Marsha Lanza, of northwest suburban Crystal Lake, said she was close with Adam Lanza´s mother, Nancy, and sent her a message on Facebook on Friday morning asking how she was doing. Nancy Lanza never responded. Marsha Lanza described Nancy Lanza as a good mother and kind-hearted. (Snip) Marsha Lanza said her husband saw Adam as recently as June

It isn´t terribly reassuring to hear the aunt say that she hasn´t seen her nephew since he was three years old.

It´s touching that the President goes on TV as a Father in response to the school shootings. He even wiped away a tear or two. It would also be nice if he would now act presidential and stop inviting into the White House rappers who make a living pushing hatred with violent lyrics. His invitation shows support of the message and the life style which have put so many young black men in prison. Stop welcoming Muslim Clerics whose home countries are told we are the great Satan. His guests are an offense to America. It´s time to clean up his act.

FTA - Ryan Lanza told law enforcement he had not been in touch with his brother since about 2010.

What was he doing the last couple years? Even family members haven´t seen him in quite a long time.

He lived at home with his mother so she at least knew what was going on with him. It´s amazing if had a serious "personality disorder" or mental health issues that she allowed him access to her gun collection.

I really want to know how he accessed her guns. The assumption is that she gave him access, but that´s not necessarily the case. We´ll never know because all the witnesses to that moment are dead.

So the AP can find the aunt of an obscure person, but cannot fnd out ´nuffin´ about President Zero? No classmates, no friends, no enemies, no nuffin.
Is that amazing, or what?

The aunt says the kid was an "honors student with learning issues".....I wonder how that works. I am looking forward to seeing something re his medical treatment.

Fact. Nobody knows nothing. Now it´s just 300 and 500 word assignments to keep the channels running. I´m going back to Angry Birds. On Monday, I´m buying another gun and all the ammo I can afford.

AP and the other MSM´s have found out more about this one sick person in a few days then they discovered about Obama in four years or so. Give the survivors and family some room to grieve and leave them alone. This isn´t about guns, it´s about a sick society.

#7, that combination isn´t unusual. Many people are brilliant in one or more areas, but struggle in other areas. For example, a person who excels at math may have trouble with written expression, or a person who excels at reading may have trouble with math. Some such learning disorders can be overcome with different types of teaching, while other learning disorders are a lifelong problem.

#4, the mother may not have fully realized what was happening. The prodromal stage of schizophrenia can look a lot like Asperger. That is why the Asperger diagnostic criteria specifically say to rule out schizophrenia first. But schizophrenia generally doesn´t strike until age 16 - 24, while Asperger is generally diagnosed in childhood. It is entirely possible that he was misdiagnosed with Asperger as a child when he actually had symptoms of early-stage schizophrenia. Unless mom knew what to look for, she may not have realized what was happening. Most parents of children with schizophrenia watch their child deteriorate for some time before they realize what is happening. And since the child is usually an adult, the parent is totally helpless under the law to get treatment for the adult child unless the child agrees to it.

I know the MSM will rush to print anything with even a faint connection to a big story. And my own family tree has some pretty twisted limbs on it.

But either I"m confused or this writer is:

Marsha Lanza is the sister-in-law of Nancy Lanza, who was slain Friday.
Her husband, Michael, is the brother of Nancy Lanza, she said.

Did Nancy, and both her sons use her maiden name?
With a simple internet search I found: Peter Lanza, a vice president of taxes for GE Energy Financial Services, is the father of the alleged shooter...

So, is "Marsha" for real?

Someone--the Aunt--isn´t keeping up with family ties; Adam has been reported as having Asperger´s syndrome. That diagnosis isn´t reached at a grocery store--a medical professional must asses it. Of course, the press might just be tossing it around to show their (dubious) smarts.

Reply 15 - Posted by: Fireball27, 12/15/2012 3:21:14 PM     (No. 9067838)

I am betting the mother bought the guns for her son. My guess is she, like many parents today, wanted to be his best friend. Parents should be parents.

Kip Kinkel´s parents bought their mentally messed up kid guns. They were teachers too. He also killed them, then went to Thurston High School and killed students.

Just my thoughts, based on what I know about what happened at Thurston. Seems like the same deal here.

Reply 16 - Posted by: Gagolfer, 12/15/2012 3:29:07 PM     (No. 9067844)

Apparently Nancy Lanza was NOT a teacher according to the school Superintendent and the shooter´s father is an exec with GE.

# 12 Perhaps Adams´ full name is Adam Lanza Fayad.

#12, I noticed that too. Nancy Lanza´s maiden name is reported to be "Champion."

Ergo it isn´t likely her brother has a last name of Lanza. Brother-in-law, maybe.

I.e. this woman (Marsha Lanza) is perhaps married to Nancy Champion Lanza´s husband´s brother.

The White House’s explanation of what it knew about the investigation into the IRS’s scrutiny of conservative political groups and how it planned for the eventual release of that information shifted once again Tuesday. Just a day after telling reporters that chief of staff Denis McDonough and other senior White House staff learned of the situation nearly a month ago, press secretary Jay Carney revealed Tuesday that White House officials had consulted with the Treasury Department on how to make the findings public.(Snip) Carney said he hadn’t revealed more information about which officials

Douglas Shulman, the former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, said today he was “dismayed and saddened” that his agency had improperly targeting conservative groups, but declined to offer a direct apology and dismissed suggestions that he mislead Congress. The testimony from Shulman, who was making his first public appearance since the IRS controversy broke into the open two weeks ago, did not satisfy members of the Senate Finance Committee. He faced more than three hours of stern questioning from Democrats and Republicans, but said “I don’t believe I was aware” when asked

For a "failed scandal," Fast and Furious sure brought out the heavy hitters at the Department of Justice to deal with a whistleblower. The department´s inspector general has released a report accusing one US attorney, Dennis Burke, of leaking a document that smeared John Dodson, a key witness in the Fast and Furious scandal, and accusing other officials in the department of coming up with a strategy to discredit him. Breitbart: The DOJ IG said it found "Burke´s conduct in disclosing the Dodson memorandum to be inappropriate for a Department employee and wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney."

Officials in the White House discussed how and when the Internal Revenue Service would tell the public that the agency had targeted political groups, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday. Carney said that Mark Childress, the White House deputy chief of staff, twice spoke with officials at the Treasury Department about the strategy for revealing conservative targeting. Childress and the Treasury officials discussed the possibility that Lois Lerner, the IRS official who oversaw the agency´s tax-exempt organization, would reveal that an inspector general´s investigation had found

They explained that some had originally been counted twice amid the chaos. Officials, who warned that the death toll could rise, said 237 people were injured in the storm and that searches are continuing

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia can finally agree on something. "He called me a whiner. A federal court in San Francisco Tuesday struck down Arizona´s ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law violates a string of U.S. Supreme Court rulings starting with Roe v. Wade that guarantees a woman´s right to an abortion before a fetus is able to survive outside the womb. That´s generally considered to be about 24 weeks. Normal pregnancies run about 40 weeks. Several states have enacted similar bans starting at 20 weeks. But the 9th Circuit´s ruling is binding only in the nine Western states

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.
