| Embattled U.N. Ambassador Susan E. Rice withdrew her name Thursday from consideration to succeed Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton after months of criticism over her comments about the terrorist attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, in September. Although the decision had been building for weeks, Mrs. Rice’s request was a stunning setback for President Obama, who angrily defended her in a November news conference and challenged the Republican critics that “they should go after me” over the handling of the Benghazi attack. Mrs. Rice has been

The false narrative is that the mean racist Republican Senators kept her from being Secretary of State, but they had no means to stop her. It is clear that influential Democrats behind the scenes wanted her out.

Forget Rice she was just a diversion from Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton who should have been the target by McCain and the other silly senators.
Such idiots those Senators are but then they are all part of the good old boys club which includes Clinton. She got a pass.
This country is a mess. How any GI/or good American could serve this country anymore is beyond me.

This gives His Majesty a great opportunity to throw another name in the ring - Barack´s favorite communist/Truther Marxist subversive (and MSM heartthrob!): Van Jones. Who better to represent the current anti-American state of State than Van the Man? Granted, Hillary the Miracle Worker is a hard act to follow, but Jones´ seething, white-hot hatred of the US Constitution qualifies him well for whatever mission Dear Leader would assign him.

Nothing is ever as it seems in Washington and I don´t believe for one minute that she ´voluntarily withdrew´. Since when has this bunch ever cared about anything being costly and devisive? Obama´s own party was going to balk on this one. And they can shove their racist card. Being black does not sheild you from any and all criticsm.

Let´s look at character - Obama defended her saying the Republicans were talking badly about her. (he´s defending someone who lied - lack of character). She´s the one who went on tv and lied to the nation. If she was just a mouth for someone else, then she doesn´t deserve to serve the country in any way. She should have looked into it. Again, the death of the 4 people are being side tracked by this circus.

#1 is correct. The story isn´t about the Republicans who recently criticized Rice. It´s the silence from Senate Democrats.
I wish this was about incompetence but I suspect it is mostly about personality. Over the last 20 years Rice has rubbed too many people the wrong way. It was reminiscent of what happened when Bush 41 named the abrasive John Tower to Defense.

Yeah, agree it was a group decision for her to withdraw. Bamster is off the hook, avoided the sausage grinder confirmation fiasco and Rice didn´t have to go through rejection. It´s that soft approach for getting rid of a liability.
Word had it on Foxy news that pubs sent a message to Biden last week that it was a "no way" confirmation and even democrats had contested her. Did the DC fool learn anything, that once you hire a henchwoman to make the rounds with lies and spin, they´ve lost all credibility once exposed? Probably not. His affirmative action mindset of hiring people with no record, a poor record or recently discredited is on full power. The less the nominee has done the more eligible they are.
I love the way it was spun as "taking herself off of the list", as if she had the list for the day, like a library book someone checks out! ha ha ha ha.

All the ´old white men´ garbage went away when the stuff started coming out about her oil industry investments in Canada. From the LEFT, not the right. DES MOINES, Iowa — Is the tea party getting its groove back? Shouts of vindication from around the country suggest the movement´s leaders certainly think so. They say the IRS acknowledgement that it had targeted their groups for extra scrutiny — a claim that tea party activists had made for years — is helping pump new energy into the coalition. And they are trying to use that development, along with the ongoing controversy over the Benghazi, Libya, terrorist attacks and the Justice Department´s secret seizure of journalists´ phone records, to recruit new activists incensed about government overreach.

Several major cases will be decided by the Supreme Court over the next six weeks, including historic issues such as gay marriage and affirmative action. These cases make the remainder of the Court’s term—which ends in June—one of the most carefully watched terms by millions of Americans. In addition to several significant cases that have already been decided this year, the justices of the High Court have at least ten important issues to decide before adjourning for the summer. Since his emergence as a national political figure, Barack Obama has managed to deflect accusations of wrongdoing and impropriety with ease. Republicans on Capitol Hill are determined to put that to an end by making him pay for the unfolding scandal at the Internal Revenue Service. “Ultimately responsibility lies with the president. Obama has spent the better part of the last five years doing non-stop campaigning,” says a senior Republican Senate aide who points to the administration’s larger pattern of “using political offices to intimidate and harrass” its opponents. “When bureaucrats see the leader

“And the war will end by the end of next year .?.?. ” In the elusive search for an Obama Doctrine, that struck me as a telling phrase when I heard the president deliver it last week as he and British Prime Minister David Cameron took a couple of questions from reporters. Obama was speaking about the withdrawal of U.S. and allied combat troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2014. “Our troops will continue to come home, and the war will end,” he said. In fact, the war is unlikely to end. It may well accelerate as the Taliban

When the Justice Department began investigating possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009, investigators did more than obtain telephone records of a working journalist suspected of receiving the secret material. They used security badge access records to track the reporter’s comings and goings from the State Department, according to a newly obtained court affidavit. They traced the timing of his calls with a State Department security adviser suspected of sharing the classified report. They obtained a search warrant for the reporter’s personal e-mails. The case

In early 2010, an Internal Revenue Service team in Cincinnati began noticing a stream of applications from groups with political-sounding names, setting in motion a dragnet aimed at separating legitimate tax-exempt groups from those working to get candidates elected. The IRS officials decided to single out one type of political group for particular scrutiny. “These cases involve various local organizations in the Tea Party movement,” read one internal IRS e-mail sent at the time. A few hours north in Fremont, Ohio, the owners of a drainage supply shop, Tom and Marion Bower, were wondering why it was taking so long

The White House´s chief lawyer learned weeks ago that an audit of the Internal Revenue Service likely would show that agency employees inappropriately targeted conservative groups, a senior White House official said Sunday. That disclosure has prompted a debate over whether the president should have been notified at that time. In the week of April 22, the Office of the White House Counsel and its head, Kathryn Ruemmler, were told by Treasury Department attorneys that an inspector general´s report was nearing completion, the White House official said. In that conversation, Ms. Ruemmler learned that "a small

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. (Snip) “There’s a reason Lady Justice wears a blindfold in America. That is because in America, we don’t apply the law based on who you are, who you know, or what you believe.
