Embattled U.N. Ambassador Susan E. Rice withdrew her name Thursday from consideration to succeed Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton after months of criticism over her comments about the terrorist attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, in September. Although the decision had been building for weeks, Mrs. Rice’s request was a stunning setback for President Obama, who angrily defended her in a November news conference and challenged the Republican critics that “they should go after me” over the handling of the Benghazi attack. Mrs. Rice has been
The false narrative is that the mean racist Republican Senators kept her from being Secretary of State, but they had no means to stop her. It is clear that influential Democrats behind the scenes wanted her out.
This gives His Majesty a great opportunity to throw another name in the ring - Barack´s favorite communist/Truther Marxist subversive (and MSM heartthrob!): Van Jones. Who better to represent the current anti-American state of State than Van the Man? Granted, Hillary the Miracle Worker is a hard act to follow, but Jones´ seething, white-hot hatred of the US Constitution qualifies him well for whatever mission Dear Leader would assign him.
My first thought was´Hooray for our side´ but on further thought, that monster in the WH will just propose someone equally odious, like another Van Jones kind of person. (He knows so many of those.) Hey, why not one of the Kardashians?
Nothing is ever as it seems in Washington and I don´t believe for one minute that she ´voluntarily withdrew´. Since when has this bunch ever cared about anything being costly and devisive? Obama´s own party was going to balk on this one. And they can shove their racist card. Being black does not sheild you from any and all criticsm.
#5 ty i asked the same thing...why didnt she just keep her mouth shut.........wanted more of her 15 minutes i guess......and ty mccain but honestly i think susan collins put the real squeeze on her...who would have thought that one....in any event.....time to get on the next candidate that hasnt been nominated.,..john francois skerry..................
Let´s look at character - Obama defended her saying the Republicans were talking badly about her. (he´s defending someone who lied - lack of character). She´s the one who went on tv and lied to the nation. If she was just a mouth for someone else, then she doesn´t deserve to serve the country in any way. She should have looked into it. Again, the death of the 4 people are being side tracked by this circus.
#1 is correct. The story isn´t about the Republicans who recently criticized Rice. It´s the silence from Senate Democrats.
I wish this was about incompetence but I suspect it is mostly about personality. Over the last 20 years Rice has rubbed too many people the wrong way. It was reminiscent of what happened when Bush 41 named the abrasive John Tower to Defense.
Yeah, agree it was a group decision for her to withdraw. Bamster is off the hook, avoided the sausage grinder confirmation fiasco and Rice didn´t have to go through rejection. It´s that soft approach for getting rid of a liability.
Word had it on Foxy news that pubs sent a message to Biden last week that it was a "no way" confirmation and even democrats had contested her. Did the DC fool learn anything, that once you hire a henchwoman to make the rounds with lies and spin, they´ve lost all credibility once exposed? Probably not. His affirmative action mindset of hiring people with no record, a poor record or recently discredited is on full power. The less the nominee has done the more eligible they are.
I love the way it was spun as "taking herself off of the list", as if she had the list for the day, like a library book someone checks out! ha ha ha ha.
She isn´t out because of Republicans. She is out because the media started printing stuff put out by the lefty base. All the ´old white men´ garbage went away when the stuff started coming out about her oil industry investments in Canada. From the LEFT, not the right. When you lose that base, nothing left to do but pull back and regroup. The Pubs had nothing to do with this.
Deflection, misdirection, street theatre and simple BS.
Stay on topic.
1. Arming al-Queda 2. Tearing down other nations 3. Embassy without armed guards 4. Stand Down! 5. Locals for "protection" 6. Inexperienced Brits with batons 7. Where were Benghazi police for seven hours? 8. Where was the Libyan military for seven hours?
We have to oppose Obama at every turn. There is no one that can do the job. Hillary is/was a disaster and frankly flying all over the world doing what she does(exactly what have been the results of her tenure there)really hasn´t helped the US at all. We are being ruled by morons and children and we have to figure out a way to stop this. I guess demandining answers from the Preezy is the first step. No more letter writing. He needs to be stopped. He is the one that allowed our people to be killed. We know it. He must be accountable with a punishment.
Interstingly enough the entire Rice thing was kabuk. She was never officially appointed or "name-placed-in-nomination" all smoke in mirrors to give cover hand bamboozle the american people. Several layers to control the news cycle and to thwart any meaningful converstion on The sinking of the USA. Imo, these murderers are programmed and they have help. Help that just fades into the woodwork, to wit becomes a postman, a groundskeeper, a bum, a guy dressed as a nerd, anyone that would not be noticed by most people.
Rice was a willing liar....Hillary, that PIAPS, always lies....Obama is a FRAUD....Kerry is a traitor, Biden is a doofus, Reid and Pelosi are crooks....so why do I feel similar indignation when McPain shows up on tv babbling some incoherent message? I pray for a leader that we conservatives and veterans can look up to and say..."SAVE MY COUNTRY"!!!
A year that began with President Barack Obama riding high after his re-election victory and inauguration ends with him in the biggest hole of his presidency. A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds the president with more Americans disapproving of his job performance than ever before; with half saying they’re either disappointed or dissatisfied with his presidency; and with 54% believing he’s facing a long-term setback. Perhaps more significantly, Obama has seen a drop in key presidential attributes, such as being honest and straightforward, being able to handle a crisis and being able to achieve his goals. “These are
The federal health-care law is becoming a heavier political burden for President Barack Obama and his party, despite increased confidence in the economy and the public´s own generally upbeat sense of well-being, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll suggests. Disapproval of Mr. Obama´s job performance hit an all-time high in the poll, at 54%, amid the flawed rollout of the health law. Half of those polled now consider the law a bad idea, also a record high. The survey of 1,000 adults conducted between Dec. 4 and Dec. 8 found a sharp erosion since January in many of the
House and Senate negotiators announced Tuesday evening a $1.012 trillion two-year budget deal to replace some of the automatic spending sequester budget cuts and avert another government shutdown in January. Rep. Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, said the two-year plan is a win for Republicans since it reduces the deficit by $23 billion without raising taxes or sacrificing core conservative values. “As a conservative, I think this is a step in the right direction. What am I getting out of this? I’m getting more deficit reduction. So the deficit will go down more by passing this than if we did nothing,”
More than half of Senate Republicans facing reelection next year face potentially viable tea party challenges — a historically large threat to the GOP establishment that could, once again, kill the party’s chances of taking back control of the chamber. A surprise challenge to Sen. John Cornyn, the No. 2 GOP leader, emerged at the last minute before Texas’s election filing deadline late Monday, and on Tuesday a conservative group with deep pockets threw its financial support behind a radiologist, who has never run for office, in a primary against Sen. Pat Roberts (Kan.), a 16-year veteran. Many of the
The current continuing resolution on federal spending expires in January, and Paul Ryan (on behalf of the Republican House) has been negotiating with Patty Murray (on behalf of the Democratic Senate) for an agreement to set spending levels for the remainder of FY 2014. It is not hard to understand the political considerations that drive House Republicans: the Democrats have been threatening to shut down the government again, as a means of diverting attention from the Obamacare fiasco. Republican understandably don’t want that to happen. But in policy terms, today’s agreement, while not terrible, represents a step backward. Spending levels
Senator Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) was quick to announce his opposition to the Murray-Ryan budget deal: We need a government with less debt and an economy with more good paying jobs, and this budget fails to accomplish both goals, making it harder for more Americans to achieve the American Dream. Instead, this budget continues Washington’s irresponsible budgeting decisions by spending more money than the government takes in and placing additional financial burdens on everyday Americans. In the short run, this budget also cancels earlier spending reductions, instead of making some tough decisions about how to tackle our long-term fiscal challenges
Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) walked out of the memorial service for Nelson Mandela when Cuban “president” Raúl Castro began speaking. “Senator Cruz very much hopes that Castro learns the lessons of Nelson Mandela,” said Sean Rushton, Cruz’s communications director. “For decades, Castro has wrongly imprisoned and tortured countless innocents. Just as Mandela was released after 27 years in prison, Castro should finally release his political prisoners; he should hold free elections, and once and for all set the Cuban people free.” Earlier in the day, President Obama shook hands with Castro.
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
