Boehner: Failure to get
´serious´ about spending cuts
holding up budget deal

House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday that talks over the looming fiscal crisis have failed to produce a deal because President Obama will not get "serious" about spending cuts. In a fresh bid to energize support for major entitlement cuts as part of any agreement, Boehner rolled out a chart that showed federal spending skyrocketing between now and 2041 -- to 40 percent of the nation´s total economy. The chart showed that revenue from Obama´s push to increase taxes on the top 2 percent will only fill in a sliver of that amount.

Stay strong Boehner. No serious spending cuts - no deal. Period.

Saying "Boehner and STRONG" in the same sentence is just wrong. He is a RINO of the FIRST STRIPE and should be relieved of his position as Speak of the House. I am ashamed of him, the majority of the republicans who support him and EVERYONE who voted to retain the embarrassment currently residing in MY White House...

Ditto #2. This man should have been gone over a year ago.

From the man that is the leader of the House which is where all spending bills come from. All the Speaker should be doing is send the best cuts he can get passed up to Obama/Reid and let them go over the cliff.

Uhhh, would someone please point out to Boehner that he´s being jerked around like a half-pound bass, and he ought to be really ticked off about it [while the rest of us go about getting his replacement lined up and installed]?

Reply 6 - Posted by: curious1, 12/13/2012 3:55:58 PM     (No. 9063924)

The house can implement any spending cut it wants by simply not making the money available. Cut off treasury and the WH and EPA and DOE and whomever they want.

Boehner never talks to the American people face to face. It`s always a question an answer period with the CrapMedia.

Hey John, how about asking the networks for airtime and tell the American people what`s going on from a different perspective other than hearing from Obama all the time...

Stop talking in public. Just get spending cuts or go Cliffwise. Obama does not negotiate or compromise. Shut off his funds so he cannot spend.

#2, amen. I do not understand the support for Boehner. The man does NOT have the basic PR skills required of Speaker of the House. He gets out there, reads a weak, factually-challenged and empty-sounding statement every darn time. He is embarrassing!!!

Pass a bill in the house to extend existing taxes & go home for Christmas... You will be blamed for whatever happens anyway. GOPers, go home... celebrate Christmas.

Even as reports break about the size and scope of the National Security Agency’s vast data storage center in Utah, new details are emerging about a second massive NSA center in San Antonio, Texas. According to the Houston Chronicle, “Satellite and aerial imagery show that massive air conditioning units and backup generators have been added to the facility, which is now ringed by barbed-wire fencing. City permits and property tax records show that the complex has been dramatically expanded.” According to sources, the plant will supposedly translate intercepted communications from the NSA; the communications are then forwarded to Maryland

They may have headed to the ´Land of the Free´ for a better life, but a set of poignant black and white pictures illustrate the brutal hardships endured by immigrant families in 19th century New York. The images captured by Jacob A. Riis provide a window into the squalor, deprivation and poverty of a bygone age. The stark photos of sweat shops, shanty towns and slums provide an image of an unrecognisable city. For many immigrants the new life was a tough one- some of the streets where they had made their home

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) subpoenaed documents from a controversial ObamaCare program on Friday after charging that the Obama administration had denied his request several times. Issa is seeking information on a federal attempt to boost nonprofit health plans, known as CO-OPs (consumer oriented and operated plans), which compete with traditional health insurance. The Affordable Care Act created a $3.4 billion federal loan program for CO-OPs that Republicans say might never be repaid because of some applicants´ financial troubles.

U.S. Rep. Edward J. Markey, who has boasted in his U.S. Senate campaign about bringing high-tech jobs to Massachusetts, backed one of the biggest telecom busts in his own hometown, funneling $35 million in taxpayer dough to a 17-year project that’s failed to create a single Internet job.The planned Telecom City — re-named Rivers Edge after the site failed to become a dot com boomtown — was supposed to attract at least 7,500 high-tech jobs. The 200-acre site that straddles Malden, Medford and Everett instead has produced only 300 jobs so far, none of which are

In the latest black eye for the scandal-ridden State Department, a whistleblower claims she was run out of the foreign service after complaining about a consul general’s alleged office trysts with subordinates and hookers.Kerry Howard says she was bullied, harassed and forced to resign after she exposed US Consul General Donald Moore’s alleged security-threatening shenanigans in the Naples, Italy, office. As the post’s community-liaison officer, Howard was charged with keeping workplace peace and advising higher-ups on the state of morale, but when she revealed allegations about her boss, State Department officials swept it under the rug,

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

Politico’s Playbook has an excerpt from a new Ryan Lizza piece from the New Yorker that is not yet online. It contains a passage on the back-and-forth between labor and the Chamber that has a quote from a Rubio staffer that is going to raise eyebrows, to say the least: “There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can’t cut it. There shouldn’t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can’t get it, can’t do it, don’t want to do it. And so you can’t obviously discuss that publicly.” Here is the entire context:
