Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said there are serious “mismatches” in U.S. immigration policy in terms of “our economic needs, our law enforcement needs and our values.” “I think that, having dealt with border enforcement and immigration enforcement for the last 20 years, I can say it is time to look at the entire system,” she said on PBS last night, expressing optimism that immigration reform may come after the fiscal cliff is negotiated. “As Congress begins to take this subject up — and we hope they will — we would be there to provide them real assistance and
Comments: Because they don´t want to. They want more Democrat voters. It´s just outrageous.
"...our economic needs," What the heck is she talking about? Our economy needs for ALL immigration to stop and business can employee Americans at a proper wage just like they used to (and many still do). Our unemployed and special needs citizens can pick fruits and vegetables or other low skill jobs that are suitable for their abilities. Everybody can start somewhere and work up from there. And our capable illegals can go back home and try to fix their own countries.
Which is why one needs a meaningful, quick, and effective deportation policy in place. In addition to drying up the jobs which lure the illegals here. And the freebies and the automatic citizenship insanity.
Anytime you hear a proposal that trades ´´enforcement´´ for amnesty, know that is just hot air. The 1986 law was not so much a deception as a political reality - enforcement is very difficult.
Two 6ft high livestock fences, 100 yds of open field in between -randomly seeded with claymore mines. Oh, and of course, lots of warning signs on the south side. I´d only charge $1mil/mile for construction and $50000 month thereafter to move the mines around every once in a while.
You are never going to stop speeding, yet we give out a zillion tickets and have all sorts of laws. You are never going to stop murder, but it is still against the law and we prosecute people who do it. Using Napolitano´s rationale we shouldn´t outlaw anything.
More then half of the current illegal alien population who actually came from many third world countries, initially came into the USA by walking through a US port of entry after being issued and showing some sort of a temporary visa or border crossing card that allowed them into the USA for a temporary period of time. To all those intending illegal aliens the amount of security along the borderline was irrelevant.
After gaining entry to the country those intending illegal aliens traveled to some interior location, perhaps a sanctuary city, overstayed their alloted visa time period, procured fraudulent or otherwise false ID, enrolled their foreign born children in US public schools, and took an American job to which they were not legally entitled, after showing the employer their bogus ID and making false statements on the US Government Form I-9, perhaps even falsely claiming US citizenship.
Remember it is Obama Administration policy, administered by this Napolitano lady that no effort should be made to arrest and deport those millions of illegal aliens until after they are finally convicted of some very serious violent crime, many times after they have murdered or otherwise seriously assaulted some innocent US citizen.
Common sense would tell you that such a non-enforcement policy favoring illegal aliens will only encourage more mass uncontrolled illegal immigration. That will not change as long as the Democrats tout very liberal visa issuing policies and have cause to believe that just about all illegal aliens are prospective Democrat voters.
If they really wanted to bring mass uncontrolled illegal immigration to a close and get rid of most of the illegal aliens here now, they would re-issue the social security card to everybody under age 55 who is qualified to have such a card. They would put a digital photograph, along with other electronic identifiers on the card, and make the new card verifiable through electronic means.
Then anytime anyone is hired it would be the employer´s responsibility to examine the card to ensure that the person being hired is the same person depicted on the card, and then verify that the card is a valid card through a government electronic database.
If that were to happen most all illegal aliens would no longer be able to get a job worth having in this country. After that, an awful lot of illegal aliens would leave and the job magnet that draws them here would no longer exist.
Then all you have to do is force the politicians to turn off the welfare faucet and provide no government benefits and services other then emergency services to the remaining illegal aliens. All the above is pretty much just good common sense.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was hospitalized early Friday morning as a “precaution” after feeling ill, a spokesman said, adding that doctors concluded "everything is normal" after testing. “Early this morning, Senator Reid was not feeling well and as a precaution decided to go to the hospital. Tests have been conducted and everything is normal. He is alert, resting and feeling better,” spokesman Adam Jentleson said in a statement. "Doctors have asked that he remain in the hospital for observation so he will not be working today." The Senate is set to finish its business for the year on Friday.
Covered California mailed out more than 100,000 botched letters to confused consumers in late November and early December, and now this story from the president´s home state: Illinois officials are emailing and calling thousands of people, advising them to start over on their health insurance applications if they believe the federal government mistakenly referred them to Medicaid. The latest wrinkle in the troubled enrollment process for the nation´s new health insurance system was announced Wednesday, just days ahead of a key enrollment deadline. The federal HealthCare.gov website received more than 30,000 applications from Illinoisans who may be eligible for Medicaid, the
Just as cigars sometimes can indeed be just cigars, so too can jokes. Yet this is a point which seems to be lost on several left-wing media writers who have taken great umbrage at the mockery that conservatives are making at the expense of one Ethan Krupp, better known as “PajamaBoy.” The crew on MSNBC’s Morning Joe proved today that not everyone on the left has missed the absurdity of the Obama administration putting forward a grown man in children’s pajamas with a cup of hot chocolate as the public face of Obamacare to young people. Still, there appear to
One of the eight federal prisoners granted sentence commutations by President Barack Obama Thursday is a first cousin of Gov. Deval Patrick (D-Mass), one of the president´s most devoted supporters on the national political scene. Reynolds Allen Wintersmith Jr. was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted in Illinois federal court in 1994 of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute cocaine and cocaine base and possession with intent to distribute crack. He was 19 at the time of his arrest and 17 at the time he got involved running drugs for the Gangster Disciples gang. He is
The D.C. health exchange says it is launching an Obamacare blitz this weekend and knows where to go to find “young invincibles” — in line to buy the latest edition of Air Jordan sneakers. D.C. Health Link announced on Thursday it will seek out shoppers this weekend — the last retail spurt before Christimas — to educate them about enrollment options under the Affordable Care Act on its city-run health exchange. It will kick off its strategy at Safeway grocery stores on Friday in the city’s eastern wards. On Saturday, exchanges assisters will work the lines that will likely form
Rep. Peter King said fellow Republican Sen. Rand Paul owes the nation’s top intelligence official an apology after saying he should resign for “lying” to a Senate committee about a controversial surveillance program. The New York congressman also said that Paul´s comparison of National Intelligence Director James Clapper to NSA leaker Edward Snowden is "absolutely disgraceful." "For Senator Paul to compare that patriot, General Clapper, with someone like Snowden, who is a traitor, who has put American lives at risk - Senator Paul should be ashamed of himself," King said Thursday on CNN’s “The Situation Room.” "It´s an absolute disgrace.
Duck season may soon be over for A&E. The Robertson family released a statement late Thursday that raises doubts about the future of one of the most popular shows on cable television. “We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm,” the Robertson family said in a prepared statement. “We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.” The family said it has “spent much time in prayer” since learning A&E had suspended Phil Robertson,
Is this man simply expressing his beliefs or spewing bigotry?Either way, Phil Robertson, the patriarch in A&E´s "Duck Dynasty," won´t be duck calling on air anytime soon. The network suspended him after slamming gays in a magazine interview. In the January issue of GQ, Robertson said homosexuality is a sin and puts it in the same category as bestiality and promiscuity. "It seems like, to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man´s anus. That´s just me. I´m just thinking: There´s more there! She´s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know
A&E broke its silence on Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments late Wednesday. The cable network announced Robertson is off the hit show for the time being. The network issued the following statement to EW: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”
For a few hours, it looked like Americans would quietly accept the suspension of popular “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson for his unfiltered opinions about sin, sex, gays and blacks in a magazine interview. But then, as if on cue, hundreds of thousands of fans of the openly Christian, duck-hunting businessman took to social networks and started their backlash. As of Thursday night, more than 1.1 million people “liked” the “Stand With Phil Robertson” Facebook page, while about the same number had clicked their support for another Facebook page called “Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson Is Put Back On Duck
The Obama administration Thursday night significantly relaxed the rules of the health-care law for millions of consumers whose individual insurance policies have been canceled, saying they could buy bare-bones health plans or entirely avoid the requirement that most Americans have health insurance. The surprise announcement, four days before the Dec. 23 deadline for people to choose coverage that begins on Jan. 1, triggered an immediate backlash from the health insurance industry and raised new fairness questions about a law intended to promote affordable and comprehensive coverage. “This type of last-minute change will cause tremendous instability in the marketplace and lead
O ne year removed from re-election, President Obama´s approval rating has sunk to the lowest level of his presidency. Furthermore, Obama´s popularity among the Democratic Party base — whose rejuvenated support proved crucial last November — took a huge hit this past year. Only 54 percent of self-described liberals "very strongly" approve of Obama´s job performance, according to a Pew survey released this week. That´s down from an all-time high of nearly 90 percent, and a significant decline from the 73 percent who strongly approved of the president back in June. Why the steep drop? Well, the first year of Obama´s second term
John Podesta was just named as a new senior-level adviser to President Obama last week, but he´s already ruffling Republican feathers. In a profile published late Tuesday night by Politico Magazine, Podesta is quoted comparing Republicans to the infamous cult led by Jim Jones, who was responsible for the 1978 cyanide poisoning of more than 900 of his followers in Guyana. "They need to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress," said Podesta of what Obama´s White House team faces.
Hours after we reported that Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson dropped some illogical “logic” on homosexuality during his GQ interview, his home network A&E decided to indefinitely suspend him from the show. While Robertson’s comments were hilariously ignorant, they were predictable — especially given his family’s socially-conservative, Bible-loving image. Suspending the lead character for his wholly predictable comments is not only an overreaction but a gross misstep. To recap: The Duck Commander patriarch remarked to the men’s magazine that homosexuality is on par with bestiality, and used fifth-grade “logic” to imply that homosexual men should give up their ways of choosing a
