NFL legend Dick Butkus on Wednesday did not express enthusiasm for the idea of banning kickoffs from professional football, but he did not totally reject the proposal either. CNSNews.com asked him what he thought of it. “Well, it´s just the sign of the times," said Butkus. "I guess the game is really changing. "If they have statistics, which they claim they do, that a lot of concussions happen on the kickoff--I mean, you’re taking away one of the most exciting parts of the game,” Butkus told CNSNews.com in an interview Wednesday. Butkus said that the ban could really affect his Chicago Bears,

If you´re going to eventually ban the entire game you have to start somewhere.

Ban the Kick-Off?? and for an on-side kick we do what precisely? Flip a coin to see who gets the ball?

The liberals have decided to eliminate football. Will Americans care? They don´t seem to care about anything else.

Might as well stop wasting time and just turn it into flag foot ball. I can´t quite see a lot of people wanting to watch professionals play it. Maybe make it co-ed and they have to play in under wear, PG-18.

Should probably mean better design of helmets, and shoulder pads, and some limits on the use of mass/strength enhancing steroids, etc. Football is a rough sport, and is understood as such by all participants!

Just hang pretty flags off their pants......We can all watch "Flag" football !!!!

Then nobody will get hurt !

Maybe, we can also eliminate the scoreboard, as you don´t want to hurt the feeling of the fans by losing !!!

Who, exactly, is calling for this? Soccer moms? Lacrosse dads?

#7, I believe it is the media so they can report on it for a while. This will not stand!! We can always start a new league without the idiot Goodall or whomever is running the NFL. I nominate Rush Limbaugh and Condi Rice to be the President and CEO of the new league!!

The game of football is on its way to becoming a game of the past. Just like everything that is eventually outlawed, it is a step by step killing of the game until it is no longer played.

Here´s an idea - how about we let football go. They are the PR products for cities that are ruining the country anyway. Think about it - is there a NFL franchise that is not attempting to put an attractive face on a lying, cheating, taking, socialist, liberal-controlled municipality?

Same with the dang universities. They do everything they can to denigrate everything good and decent, and we are seduced into supporting them because of their football or basketball teams?

Let´s let it go - there was life before football and there will be life after.

What is currently happening and what is being contemplated in the NFL perfectly reflects our risk-averse, nanny state society. No one is forced to play in the NFL. It´s a high-risk/high-reward gig; every player should have to sign a document waiving claims against injury. The NFL is a ruthless meritocracy, something else the nanny staters can´t stand and aim to destroy.

Compare the size of football players in 1965 to today´s size. Get rid of steroids. Less mass means less injuries.

Over the years, a lot of lower round draft choices and free agents made teams and went on to great careers by proving themselves on special teams, mostly kickoffs. Sad.

Indeed, the pussies are taking over.

#5: One of the contributing factors to brain damage in football has been the advanced design of helmets. And strength enhancers, I´m sure. They just hit each other harder now. Many football players suffer several concussions in a season.

I don´t see us going back to the old days with leather helmets and softer hits, though.

Reply 19 - Posted by: Judith, 12/13/2012 8:17:34 AM     (No. 9063033)

When are the football officials going to start enforcing the "use your words" and always say please, thank you and may I, code?

A new rule....mandatory to wear tin foil hats. If enjoyment is aplenty, one can be certain the dems will find a way to delete the enjoyment. Buffalo wings, chili fries, salt, redneck jokes, black humor.....all make us laugh or offer entrainment. All frowned upon by the dems. You´ll get hurt (no longer able to make money)....then they will be unable to take your money and their revenue would decline.

In 2007, then Senator Barack Obama appeared on CNN´s Larry King Live and called on U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign. Obama said Gonzales was acting more like the president´s attorney than the people´s attorney and viewed himself as an "enabler of the administration." "Well, I voted against Alberto Gonzales confirmation for precisely the reason we are seeing now. I said this on the floor of the senate, that although he seemed to be a capable attorney, he seemed to conceive his role as being the president´s attorney instead of being the people´s attorney," Obama said.

The way to prevent abortionists like convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell from occurring again is to build more Planned Parenthood clinics, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Thursday about legislation that would prevent abortion after 20 weeks nationwide. “I would urge my colleagues to think about the extent to which he, Dr. Gosnell, represented the poor quality of health care services available in poorer communities,” Nadler said at the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice hearing. “We should be working to make sure that high quality

House Speaker John A. Boehner on Thursday flatly ruled out chances of the House passing the Senate’s immigration bill, saying his chamber will debate its own bill instead. The Ohio Republican and his top lieutenants in the party issued a joint statement that seemed designed to tamp down some of the momentum behind the Senate bill, which emerged from a committee on a bipartisan 13-5 vote this week, and to stake out a House GOP position. “While we applaud the progress made by our Senate colleagues, there are numerous ways in which

During friendly questioning from Rep. Hank “I fear that Guam will capsize!” Johnson in Congress last week, Attorney General Eric Holder offered the following statement. In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy. He made that statement before the facts about the sweep on Fox News’ James Rosen were known. Since then, it’s come to light that Holder himself approved the subpoena that, among other things, named Rosen as a criminal co-conspirator.

As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you’ll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to threaten them into silence. Cuomo invited

The National Council of La Raza (translation: The Race) has partnered with the Office of Personnel Management to encourage Hispanic activists and members to burrow into the federal government. A workshop sponsored by La Raza/The Race will take place in New Orleans on July 23, 2013. Senior Executive Service (SES) employees are federal government employees in special executive management positions, often with salaries approaching $200,000 per year (and well past that with benefits). Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.

A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week. The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep.
